This game is definitely on my watchlist. Yasunori Mitsuda has never made a bad soundtrack, and the game gives off a lot of classic Square vibes.

this is setting a new standard for pixel art rpgs. so beautiful day and night cycle, love the battle transition, just overall beautiful visuals. if the gameplay is top notch it will probably be one of my fave games of 2022

I keep coming back to this trailer waiting for it to release😭 it looks amazing

The combat happening in the over world, the positioning of party members, the way enemies fade red when defeated. Yeah this is call back to Chrono Trigger for sure.

The developers said that they are inspired by the classic jrpg and their main inspirer is Chrono trigger. They even invited the composer chrono trigger to write the soundtrack.

I’m not a huge into JRPG’s, but after playing Chrono Trigger 25 years ago, it stands as not only my favorite JRPG, but one of my favorite video games of all time. It’s great to see games made in CT’s image, and I’ll gladly support those games. Looking forward to this game!

Apparently it's very hard to make a decent sequel. Look at secret of mana. Amazing games. All the follow up games are increasingly worse. Same goes for setlers 2, gta San Andreas and final fantasy 7.

looks absolutely gorgeous and really gives off some old school rpg vibes.... This game reminded me of the Lunar series of rpgs. I so badly wish they would make another Lunar or Golden Sun game!

altough im late, i also want to express my feeling of the golden sun vibe that the trailer gave me. (also, if they make a golden sun game, the name of that wouldnt be something like silver moon?)

Having supported this game on Kickstarter and followed its development for the past two years, I can't even begin to describe how excited I am to play it. Especially on the Switch!

I backed this on Kickstarter as well. I also backed Goodboy Galaxy.

This game looks so good! Definitely something I have my eye on, just wish it was not a full year out still.

This hits me right in my chrono trigger feels, can't wait to play this. That concert bit at the end, literally chills, the music is fantastic.

The messanger was such a sick game, I’m still playing through it but it is wildly dope. If it’s those creators then I’m down for it for sure. It looks amazing from everything it’s offering, finally an RPG that just captures me like nothing. Even cooler that this is set in the same world and a supposed prequel like cmon that’s so sick. Cherry on top.

I like the look of this game. I'll keep an eye out. Loved the Xeno series shout out, glad Mitsuda's contribution to that are being recognised.

Any game with fishing is a good game

I backed this on kickstarter and I remember when Yasunori Mitsuda was announced as a guest composer. It says a lot when Mitsuda was so impressed by the game's concept that he actually asked to be a guest composer, rather than the team reaching out to him.

This looks incredible! Strong Chrono Trigger vibes for sure

To be honest, seeing the state of "AAA" games, I feel the Indie qualificative is out of touch. Most "indie" project are way better in terms of quality.

@@Spaggers But then they stop being original and quality goes down because of higher up interference from the big bosses. Sure they'd have a higher budget, but very strict deadlines and guidelines too. The higher the budget the more you need to sell and thus you have to cater to modern audiences alot more with barely any room for creativity or vision anymore. Look at all the big companies. It's basically all Multiplayer shooters and Battle Royale and copy/paste Open World games that they make.

Honestly, this game looks quite intriguing. I think I’ll have to give it a try when it comes out. I’m always on the lookout for genuine oldschool feeling role playing games, and this one seems to hit every target.

Im not really a 2d RPG person but after playing the messenger, I feel like these guys can’t miss

I want this game more than any game I've seen in the last 10 years.

This game feels like everything I’ve ever asked for. So stoked!

I saw this on Kickstarter and it looked really good. I wasn't able to support it, but really glad this game got funded. Definitely on my watchlist.

I loved The Messenger, and this type of game is right up my alley. However, even though I knew both games were being made by the same developers I was not aware Sea of Stars was a prequel to The Messenger?

How fantastic! I've been excited for this ever since The Messenger! Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Normally I despise these sorts of "retro" RPG games as I never found the appeal, but this actually not only intrigued me, but I got so hyped for this as well, cannot wait to start playing this game!

My husband and I backed this game on Kickstarter several years ago now, and we've played it ourselves last year (demo only for backers), the combat is really good, the music is outstanding, the art is perfect... Aaaaand it's also in the same universe as their previous game "The Messenger"! You guys are gonna love this one ^_^

I absolutely loved the Messenger so on that basis alone, I'm sold, however, I'm not the biggest fan of JRPGs but I'll be happy to buy it, check it out and support the development team.

My husband and I had dinner with the creators of this game and had a chance to play an extended demo. The combat is fantastic, the music is sublime and the art is gorgeous... We got a "behind the scenes" peek at their dev process. And as you'd said, it's in the same universe as their previous game "The Messenger"! You and your husband will love this game ;)

Easily one of my top 5 anticipated games of '22. I've been eyeing this one for almost a year now! Also WHAT?!!? I had NO IDEA Mitsuda was gonna be involved. The hype just doubled.

It’s a really fun/beautiful game

The animations are so crisp it reminds you it’s 2022 despite the chrono trigger throwback

You know I can't say I was ever expecting someone to make a spiritual successor to Chrono and Golden Sun at the same time, while clearly also knowing and respecting the Xeno series, but I'm sure not complaining!

This was definitely the best game of the direct for me. I am highly anticipating this game.

Looks interesting though as a long time Star Ocean fan it's gonna be hard to not have that game in the back of my mind since the titles are just two different ways to express the same concept.

I ordered the soundtrack to Chrono Trigger from Japan when I was a kid. This looks great. Also, that Lavos looking enemy. Well done.

Apparently this is prequel to The Messenger, set hundreds of thousands of years before. Insanely distant. Also seems like different vibes, this seems more serious. Super excited

I dont usually like oldstyled like square rpgs or other basic turned based rpgs but the pixel style looks great. It's not just SNES it looks very gameboy advance or ds era and I love that. Also the enemies look very unique and not like your basic goblins and slimes. I loved the messenger too so its definitely on my wishlist.

I dont like the style of graphics of old Final fantasy (compare to advanced game graphics). But I like the game play. Why are they constantly forcing old school graphics. The reason they was loved back then is because they was CUTTING EDGE back then. Now they are trailing far behind.

GBA and SNES graphics are the same thing. The GBA is basically a portable SNES.

@@rpg_haven nah it's slightly better. You can see the graphical difference between games like earthbound and mother 3, link to the past and minish cap, kirby super star and amazing mirror. The SNES must have not had much data because the animations there are pretty limited while on gameboy advance everything can be way more polished without cutting any corners. Also I think the sound on gameboy is improved compared to SNES. I also said it was more best of gameboy advance/ds graphics and ds definitely had way better graphics.

It was a completely different game tho,rather than a JRPG it was a platformer....it was a really good game in its own ways but different genre

I’ve seen this game on Twitter before and I was already interested then. But I had no idea Yasunori Mitsuda was doing the soundtrack! That like doubled my interest on its own!

This type of game is my cup of tea, day one for me

The visuals are definitely feeling pretty underwhelming to me after playing Octopath Traveler but it looks like there’ll be some more interesting mechanics in this game
