Sea Fishing on the Taf Estuary in Carmarthenshire, South West Wales - The Bristol Channel.

South West Wales Sea Fishing on the Taf Estuary in Carmarthenshire, which flows into Carmarthen Bay/Bristol Channel. I'm staying in a beautiful grade II listed holiday come called Pilgrims Rest, which is on a working Dairy Farm. It's only a short walk down to the Estuary itself.
Thank you for watching, it is much appreciated!

    Great videos Gareth, love the mind full moments, its what fishing is all about. As you might guess, I love fishing for mullet, and there are no videos about catching Bristol Channel mullet that I can find. I fish Devon's clear waters, and would love to see how you would tackle them 👍

    Thank you Steve, much appreciated, I'm pleased you've been enjoying the videos. Yes I just enjoy being out there, spending a few hours next to the water, any fish that turn up are a bonus. I sometimes fish for Mullet locally, although they're not easy to catch in the coloured water. I might do a Mullet video at some point, could be on the cards. Cheers 👍

When I fished this estuary, I stayed on a working dairy farm in a property called Pilgrims Rest as I was on holiday. I fished the farm stretch and am not familiar with other parts of the estuary unfortunately and so I can't advise on parking. Not sure where you're from but some of the Newport marks are good if you can't walk far, for example the Transporter Bridge, St Brides and Goldcliff, you can park up and fish with only a very short walk required 👍👍

    QQ: how far up an estuary can from the beach can you fish without a license?

  • @riversidewithme

    @riversidewithme

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's different on all estuaries. For example, on the Taf (this video), you don't need a permit until you reach lower St Clears, which is approximately 5 miles from the mouth of the estuary. From then on, it's controlled by St Clears Angling Association. I always check with the local angling clubs before I go but generally speaking, you usually get a few miles of free fishing. No rod licence needed either as you're fishing for saltwater species 👍
