    In Turkey, we can get these between 250 to 300 USD with easy access to parts and service. A Benelli M4 costs around 2200 USD. So for us this makes a lot of sense. I agree it is not an actual M4 but they are improving their quality. Great detailed review!

    Thanks for sharing that information. All of that makes sense. I'm sure with some more effort and refinement, your manufacturers will probably be able to reach close to the same level of quality and durability as the real M4/M1014 for well under $1000 USD. Thanks for watching. - Drake

    I'm glad to see the final chapter on the S4. I agree with your assessment. These are fun project guns that give you the look and feel of a M4 and 25% the retail price. You don't get Benelli long term reliability but I'm never gonna put 10K shells through it. For the $440 I paid for it I'm happy.

    Great Video! (I did subscribe!) I have the Four Peaks Copolla T4 (M4 copy), and generally overall happy with it. The only problem I've had was a soft bolt carrier early on deforming from the piston rod impacts. Contacted them with pics and was quickly given a new properly hardened carrier. I dumped alot of rounds through it ASAP when I got the gun to take advantage of the warranty if the gun started crapping out. If you get one of these cheap Turk guns don't just shoot a box of shells through it and put it in the closet thinking it's "Good to Go" for when the SHTF. Run a ton of shells through it while it's under warranty to find any issues!!! Yep, Locktite is your friend. Go through and pull ALL threaded fasteners and replace with properly hardened ones and Locktite the hell outt'a them. I've had the gun less than than 9 months & I'm up to about 1K rounds and will probably take 10 more yrs to shoot another 1K rounds. (I'm not an "Operator" nor do I pretend to be) It shoots crappy bird/target loads & deer slugs with no hickups since hitting the 300 rnd mark. Trust it?? I'd grab my "Turkish Delight" to investigate anything that goes bump in the night.

Mine is still covered by the 2 years free parts but they told me they have been waiting over a year for some replacements. Maybe down the road I can buy a used one for parts. Fourpeaks even Imports the AKSA and I asked if I could get those parts instead, they said they are way different. Doesn't look like it to me. Im running a Coppala S4. I found parts available from Orthos Arms Raider S4. Ive purchased a bolt and trigger guard fully assembled from them. The bolt is of proper hardness and the trigger housing is aluminum with proper hardened steel parts. Of course I have the Benelli carrier leg, extractor, misc springs and a US made hammer installed. I had a sneeze over 700 mixed rounds through mine. Its now mostly just the original receiver with factory Benelli and AM parts. The biggest plus to a good turkish clone is the ability to slowly upgrade it over time. Become familiar with its capabilities and correct them with upgrades as you can afford them. I use your videos on your Aksa as a reference video if I need to compare wear patterns. good stuff man, you should revisit the old girl with some new videos...cerakote to refresh it?

    The 1301 Tactical (latest generation) could also be called an "Italian Stallion", I suppose. It will take a bit more real world use to get it to the same reputation as the M4/M1014, but it is by many accounts, and measurable testing, a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a light-weight, short, moderate capacity, semi-auto fighting/defensive shotgun. Perhaps, "Mazza Leggera" would be a good nick-name for the 1301. Someone will come up with a good nickname. lol Thanks for watching and the comment. - Drake

    They offer an M4 specific mag tube extension. Save yourself the trouble and just buy the full length magazine tube from Dave's Metal Works. It counts towards 922R, if you are concerned with it (mag extension alone does not), and it will not require fitting on the AKSA S4. For $115 it’s a good buy and I have been very happy with it on my M1014.

    sweet tips and tricks, did you have to do anything special to get that battle rail on the s4?

  • @AmericanArmsChannel

    @AmericanArmsChannel

    2 жыл бұрын

    Battle rail? Do you mean the heat shield? It was a fairly straight-forward install. It's the ATI universal fit shotgun heat-shield, so it fit the barrel profile pretty well. I simply bent the rear retention tabs in towards the gas piston valves and forced the hand guards over it. After a couple of installs the hand guards picked up a little memory and secured, but notching the hand guards for the retention tabs is also an option. if you have a light mount like the Impact Weapons Components mount you will have to cheat the heat-shield to the opposite side and bend it on the side of the light to accommodate the light and mount. I do recommend tightening the retaining bolts on the shield significantly to prevent movement when firing.

  • @AmericanArmsChannel

    @AmericanArmsChannel

    2 жыл бұрын

    Oh, no worries! The Battle Steel T1/T2 mount and Rail was supplied with screws that were a touch long in my instance, so I had to file each down to flush with the interior of the receiver. If left too long the screws will inhibit the proper seating of the barrel extension. I used Blue Loctite once they were of proper length to prevent loosening. Regarding the optic, I will state that your choice in optic will determine whether or not you will have co-witness. The Holosun series of T1/T2 base compatible RDS's will not co-witness since the battery tray is on the bottom of the optic. The Vortex T2 clones will co-witness, but I killed mine with the 10ga G10 and this S4. My recommendation if using the BS T1/T2 rail and co-witness is desired is to go with an RDS that places the battery housing on the side or top of the optic and not the base. The largest failure of the mount is that the optic cannot be readily removed from the firearm if damaged or significant zero loss occurs, regardless of the optic's ability to co-witness. It is for this reason, and a few others, that I decided to keep the OEM rail and go with a small footprint optic that has a quick detach mount and a relatively low profile for a moderate "heads-up" shooting method on my Benelli M1014.

    I've been considering buying an S4 in the near future. I don't think my Tac-12 is a bad shotgun but I've had multiple issues so far. The most recent problem was I added a FFT 7 round tube and I'm pretty sure it's seated all the way on but there's a slight gap where sometimes the shell gets caught on. So the shell gets stuck in the mag tube and if you barely wiggle the shell and then it's back to normal. Not sure what to do. The tube was an extremely tight fit, idk if I can get it off now. Should I take it to a gunsmith or maybe try something else?

  • @AmericanArmsChannel

    @AmericanArmsChannel

    2 жыл бұрын

    I can't say that you won't be throwing good money after bad if you buy an S4 over fixing your Tac-12 or selling it and spending the money on a real M4. These Turkish clones/facsimiles of the M4/M1014 that are being imported are not very consistent in their quality and not prime examples of the best the manufacturers can do. I do not entirely believe that the firearms coming in from Sulun Arms and Aksa Arms are the same quality as what they offer overseas. My impression is that the importers are dictating a price per unit and the manufacturers are doing what they need to to meet that, even if that means an inferior product. Regarding the malfunctions you are having with the Tac-12 and FFT mag-tube, without being able to see pictures of the issue or examine the firearm in person, I can't give a definitive answer on what is causing that issue. It sounds like the FFT mag-tube has a stop-shoulder on it that is slightly short for the Tac-12's receiver. You could have also had an excess of thread locker residue remaining in the threads that was solid and stopped the tube from turning all the way in. One of two things should happen when you install a magazine tube on any shotgun - it should bottom out on the threads and leave no gap to jump between the inside of the receiver and the mag tube, or it should bottom out on the stop shoulder (which retains the forend retention plate in the case of the first generation Super-90 pattern guns like the M4/M1014). Ideally, both will occur with precision machined components. I would recommend re-heating the threads and removing the tube to clear the threads of any locker and debris, then test fit again. If you need any help, please feel free to email the channel with detailed pictures of the problem and I can continue to help from there. - Drake

    @@AmericanArmsChannel Thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate all the info. It helps. I just meant get an S4 in addition to the Tac-12. Yes, I'm making the case for owning two M4 clones haha. I'll hold off on taking the Tac-12 to a gunsmith for now and try to take the the tube off like you suggested. I didn't use any loctite though because it was such a tight fit I was actually afraid I'd never be able to get it off again. I'm almost completely certain there no residue but I figure either way I'll need to take the tube off again. The gap is so slight. When you load a shell you can feel the rim of the shell hitting that gap and it gets stuck only some of the time. Again, just a little bit of pressure with your thumb and then it snaps into place and the shell is seated properly. The gap is just about the width of the rim of a shotshell. Just barely enough for it to get stuck.

  • @AmericanArmsChannel

    @AmericanArmsChannel

    Sounds like there are a couple of things that could be causing the seating depth issue with the FFT mag tube, but I will guess it is probably a tolerance stacking issue primarily. minor fitting may be required to get it to function properly. If you mean the S4 compared to the real M4/M1014 then they are very similar, but there are some differences. Finish, cam groves, and some other external geometries are slightly different. I also bought BAT S4. Because of IL's new law, I can't buy a shotgun with a "scary" pistol grip, or a shotgun with a rd capacity above 5. So, this rifle fits the criteria. Waiting for it to arrive. Does your s4 have a recoil tube that accommodates a collapsible stock? What's your initial thoughts on the s4? I'm curious if the BAT s4 is a rebrand of the AKSA or SDS S4.

    @@clthat1972 initial impressions - it's a decent gun for the price. The only issue I've had so far (300 rds in, all 2 3/4 slugs, 100 subsonic rest supersonic) without the suppressor it has issues cycling the lower power subsonic slugs but it eats the regular all day. With suppressor it cycles even the lower power ammo flawlessly. Only 1 malfunction, could be ammo related. Just didn't feed, part of the shell was split and got caught on internals. Just pulled slightly on bolt and then it seated fine. The major issue I did have was the stock / pistol grip came loose after maybe 100 rds. Will have to look into that. Overall VERY fun and great scattergat for the price

    @@austinchasteeny Thank you for the info! I just received mine. First impressions, It looks and feels good. Front sight is slightly canted, but I'm using a Battle Steel Red Dot mount, so it's not that big a deal. Action is smooth. Took it apart and cleaned it up. I hope to take it out in a week or so; got some 00 and 7.5 shot to try out. Unfortunately, IL doesn't allow suppressors, I wish they did. I may get another one if this one works well. I plan to inapect the bolt and pistons after shooting it, to look for peening.

    I cannot comment with absolute knowledge, as I have not tested and evaluated one, but I would still not expect any greater performance, durability, or longevity out of what is in essence an identical gun of unknown parts sourcing and build quality. My opinion and recommendation would remain the same as this review of the S4; if you want a project gun and fun recreation tool, the turkish facsimile is fine. If you want the M4/M1014, buy the M4/M1014.

  • @AmericanArmsChannel

    You've missed the points that I make in the video: 1) You are not guaranteed that Benelli OEM parts will drop in 2) The quality of the build may require Benelli OEM parts be fitted or may not work 3) To replace major components with Benelli OEM parts is a chasing a "white rabbit" and will not save you money. 4) To singularly replace the Bolt, Bolt Carrier, or Barrel will potentially result in non-function, reliability issues, or parts damage due to head spacing, cam grove profile/bolt lock timing, and any number of other issues. In short, this means that if you replace one, you will most likely need to replace all to insure you have functional, reliable firearm that will not have accelerated wear from standard use. Bottom line, some assemblies and many parts will swap. This is fine if you are going to need to replace a broken part or install an aftermarket accessory/part, BUT, because the firearm is not to the specifications of the original it copies it is not in any way shape or form the equal of its origin for 25% of the price. You can do all this if you want and like to have the project and its challenges, but it in no way can be evaluated to be a viable alternative to the original model for less cost and equal performance. I hope that clears up what I am saying in this review and why I did not go through the monotonous and irrelevant (in my mind) task of showing what can be swapped or not. - Drake

    I've been doing my homework on these, an I have to say, I wish "ASKA" had done their homework, an turned out a product that was 100 % reliable for SD. Instead of feeding into the fearporn that is all over this country for profit. I think they realized they could make alot of money off of the americans, by making a product that looks good an tactical, but has Qa/QC problems like alot of the turkish made gas operated guns. They make some decent pump guns, but their gas guns are still a no go in my book, as their all made, from what I've read, in the same factory's, just rebranded as to which manufacter get their name stamped on it. No amount of tinkering should be required for a true semi-auto SD gun, pull it out of the box, clean it, an shoot it to break it in. My .02. Think I'll stick to my rems an mossy's for now, an maybe one day they'll get it together. Thx for the vid

    Aksa Arms is the actual manufacturer of the "S4" model which is imported by SDS Imports and Four Peaks Imports, so to state that it is not is inaccurate/false. It is true that a good number of turkish guns are the same thing with a different name and slight feature change on them, but the AKSA S4 is not one of them (with the exception that in Turkey and Europe the gun is sometimes marketed as the "Aksa Arms CROSSFIRE WI", but it is in fact the same gun). One thing that has to be considered, is that these guns are being sold to the importing US companies for a specific price per unit at 'X' number of units, and the quality and finish are going to reflect that. If you ask for 1,000 units at a price of $225 a unit, you are going to get the quality that matches, regardless of the design. If importers selected quality and well historied manufacturers such as Girsan, AKSA, SULUN, and HUGLU and paid them much more for a better product, you would have that better product. The street price may not be below $900 to $1,200 on a Benelli "clone", but you'd have the QA/QC to give the gun VERY high value compared to models of different origins in the same price range. By a tangential way of example, you'll now see that the price and finish is now a higher grade (cerakote) on the Four Peaks imported variants than the SDS. It is not so much that the Turks can't make a good gun, it's that you have to pay them to just like any other trade in the world. Should a company like AKSA Arms establish its own importation (much like a Benelli USA or Beretta USA by way of example) you would see said higher price and higher quality product in all likeliness. To the point of a self defense or fighting shotgun being marketed as such and not being to said standards, I will state that neither SDS Imports, Four Peaks Imports, nor Aksa Arms themselves has advertised, to the best of my knowledge, the S4 model as being such. They have stated it is M4/M1014 parts and accessories compatible, but not that it is a defense shotgun per-say. It is a copy of such, but it is not such. This is much better than the abysmal dumpster-fire that is the Charles Daly (Chiappa) 601 DPS model made by Merrak which is in fact labeled as a "defense" shotgun. Bottom line, if you want a Benelli M4/M1014 you have to buy one, there is no substitute. Thanks for watching and the comment. - Drake
