This does open using SDD 162. Have to use explorer to open, not edge browser. It does take vin input just like video. Make sure you have a battery maintainer that will handle 20A or better connected before using system. Thankyou for info. I did disable internet connection before using this. I am on laptop with Windows10

hi i like your videos. .... i have a problem with my jaguar xj8 2007 i have a code P050B and i did a hard reset on the battery. ....but is not ready for passing emissions i also have the sdd program installd in my xp computer but is asking me for password i dont have. ..can u help me with that...thanks ...

I tried this on my 08 L320 S/C and it gets to the point of making a change and then says "Invalid vehicle identification number received..." and kicks me back to the menu. I'm not sure how to resolve this. I have the password for coded access, but that gives Visual C++ Runtime Errors in IEXPLORE.EXE which is a whole different puzzle to solve. Running on Windows 10 x64 Build 15063. I can do everything on SDD except edit my CCF and use this workaround.

Figured out why it won't work the same as your video...my car is a 2006...jaguar used wds at that time... apparently model years 2007 and beyond went to sdd.ids...the program files are slightly different so the download manager gets to some stuff but not the complete engineering mode..I have to get the access code because my car originally was designed for wds...or possibly use a later version of sdd

Hi thank you a lot, I installed SDD JLR 131V on Windows XP Prof. SP2. This Version is not upgraded since August 2012 and runs only with this system. Tried access with User ID and password I got offline. But not accepted. So I can use it with your way. Thanx. Does your version read the VIN automatically in the usual way with access code? This old version is better to handle than newer version (JLR 160 V in Windows 8) i have.

Really interesting and useful thank you! - a couple of questions - if I do this when plugged into the car are the changes automatic or do you have to :download them" to the car? Also if i do this offline and then plug it in, do the changes load into the car or do i have to do something else?

In my case, changes were made immediately. As choosing right car configuration options is mandatory to get it working, we can assume that pre settings while unpluged will not be possible. Please, do not do it if you are unsure, always get a strong battery charger connected and at your own risk.

I have a 1998 Jaguar XJR. I am using JLR SDD version 164. When using your procedure and entering the last 6 digits of the vin (828128), I only get information for 2017 models. How can I get prior year model information?

I think your car does not support sdd, its an older system.

This video was made using an old SDD version still able to work offline and an Mongoose Pro interface compatible to this 2009 TDV8 RRS. Sorry, I cannot tell you anything about Evoques. You can easily find in internet the right software and interface for your Evoque model, year etc. Make sure you have a strong charger connected to your battery and you know what you are doing. Always at your own risk!

I get to the car questions of fitment and it only asks me 2 questions and then it does not give me any options after clicking the green tick like you got....no module access...no nothing and there is a red lock lit up on the right pane showing lit up...using version 130.03. This is very strange. I believe it depends on how your SDD has been installed. I got meine pre-installed in a virtual machine simulating win XP to be able to run on win 7, so I have not really installed it by myself and don't know where all data came from. Some users got it working, some not. Have you tried to answer the inicial questions differently to check if it goes ahead? Are you sure to choose the right machine? Try to connect and start SDD normally than minimize the window and go to explorer and check if the file got the missing data. Is the SDD working at all?

Are you sure the cable is recognized by your pc and you have all drivers installed? Is your ignition key on position 1?

This old SDD version shown in this video requires win XP. If you get it with a newer SDD version, please share your experience. By the way, it will depend if your SDD was already online to collect all information needed.

Hi, I am using a V130 SDD from British Diagnostics. Unfortunately they are the worst communicators. they never respond to emails, and have no calling address. So, I followed your video, very nice one indeed. The only problem is I dont have those menues after entering all my car details. Is the problem with my software, or the car I am trying to work on. An x-type 2003 trying to edit vid blocks.: Those ones like 'car configuration, module programming etc. What could be wrong?

I think if we both have really the same version, you should get it like me. Does your SDD Works normally well? Which interface are you using? Try to do it connected to yor car first.

@@tdv8fixes94 I am using an interface i got from British Diagnostics. It works really well, as in it connects well tot he car, reads and configures modules well. Problem is getting to the engineering mode to edit anything. regards

@@cromwellthomas7058 I believe that the reason why it is not working for you is that the original sample which this SDD Image was made, has not been used online for your car model, so needed data is not available. I see you have a 2003 Jagar, for Land Rovers this SDD works only with 2005 or later.

I understand, but it is impossible for me to reproduce your configuration and sort out the problem. Have you connected a strong battery charger while using SDD? what kind of adapter are using on the ODBII Port?

@@tdv8fixes94 Using a VXDIag with Passthru. If I use the normal SDD on the same hardware, I can read the car modules, read DTC's and freeze frame data, but cannot modify or run anything.

@@SpawnyWhippet I have no experience with the interface you are using, but not all of them are able to program the modules. Please, never try it without keeping the voltage constant with a strong charger.

SDD159 this is all available through the SDD app using the coded access function. Also do NOT run SDD159 in a virtual PC when module programming (no matter how powerful your pc is)

It is very strange as your browser should open any html file. It looks like a windows app problem. Did you try with another browser? Please, report if you finde a solution as your experience may help others.

Does your SDD works normaly in the standard way? What happens if you start your SDD normaly and keeping it open, just minimize the window, going to explorer and trying it again? I am using mine offline. Are you using same SDD revision? You found the right file, I guess, but I cannot understand why it is not valid. Maybe not used in your version. Sorry I cannot reproduce your problem. It should work like my demo.

I’m having the same issue. We’re either of you able to get an answer for this? It first happened to me after I updated my c++ visual and got the blank white screen (2x) then I got a v160 patch that fixed the sxstraced.exe error I had but still would not fully load in browser. It went to the browser but only showed the address and was blank for everything else. SDD works but that I need a TOPIx subscription for. Any ideas?

I got it from britishdiagnostics.co.uk/ By the way, as this version requires Windows XP, they delivered it pre-installed in a Virtual machine with win XP that will run on win 7. They send you an USB Stick including Software, and all necessary information etc. Unfortunately, I am not getting any money for this marketing. :)

Some people could solve their problens, for some did not work at all. It is impossible for me to evaluate every single case as cars, sdd revisions and interfaces are all different. But, be careful and do not demage your car.

@@alphajagtuning Try using JLR SDD normally, do not forget to connect a strong battery charger when programming, otherwise you will demage ECU's. Sorry, cannot help with any code or similar.

Hi, is it possible to rebuild VID blocks using engineering mode? My vid blocks are corrupt, and when I try to get the as built, i get vid blocks which are not right

I believe you are trying to get the "as built" file saved on cluster. You do not need this method I am showing here. So, what you are trying requires a strong battery charger, take one with at least 40A. This could be the reason why you are having problems. I think you know SDD etc. Don't forget to subcribe.

@@tdv8fixes94 Much thanks to taking time to respond to my question. Yes, I need the as built file, and I used a strong charger. It SDD battery icon on SDD showed GREEN too. I entered the VIN first before connecting SDD to the vehicle. I never get a chance to pull the as built files. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, is there a video with steps on how to pull as built files lying somewhere on the internet?

@@cromwellthomas7058 I have never found a video really showing how to use SDD cotrectly, I have learned by doing. Unfortunately I have not been able to make new videos last time. But SDD should be able to read your VIN automaticaly. Which car and engine, year etc. are we talking about? If SDD is not reading vin automaticaly and your car is not too old, you cannot be sure sdd is realy connected to ecu.

@@tdv8fixes94 It used to work fine originally, I could have SDD read the VIN automatically. I then replaced the ECU, Instrument and key ring with key because the cluster was bad, and I never wanted to go through the whole programming process. Car fired up just fine, and was driving well, but with 'Gearbox Fault' in the message center. I did a vehicle scan, and the lights on the JGate stopped lighting up, but car still drove well. I then tried to erase DTCs, car started fine, left it overnight, and the next morning, car was a nonstarter, with ECU unresponsive. It couldn't communicate, and SDD couldn't read VIN. I found out that VID blocks was corrupted. That is the full history of how this came about. Now I want the as built VID Blocks to restore ECU communications. Thanks, I landed on your wonderful video.

@@cromwellthomas7058 I think the right as built file you need is in your old cluster. There are other two places it is saved too, I guess, but maybe they are corrupted too. You may need help from a LR dealer. I am sorry.

Method does not properly work. Save yourself the trouble and do not use it. Last thing you want is a bricked ecu

Im using a vcx nano for my jaguar. this method is not communicating. It says my communication module is not connected. im stuck now. dammmmn. do you know if i need another type of communication module. which one are you using? ive got the vcx nano btw.

Dear Jon H, Sorry, but as I have another type of interface and probably not same SDD revision, I am not able to reproduce your problem, but you could give another try as follows: 1. I am not connected to internet, you need a SDD version which allows diagnostics being offline. (I am not sure if it is relevant for you, so if your SDD just works online go to 2.) 2. Connect SDD to your Car as usual with your interface being recognized, identify your car etc. 3. Don't close the SDD Window, but minimize it, so you can go to windows explorer and look for the "softwaredownload.html" file, 4. Double click and see if it works now! Please, these are only my assumptions, I can not be sure it will work, so we need to keep trying. By the way, yes I am an engineer, but this issue is just a hobby! :-) Please also subscribe my channel, I am planing more surprises!

TDV8 Fixes hey! Thanks for the reply. Funny thing is. I tried what you said last night before you even replied. I got into the car's immobilizer and now it is communicating. I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard the car wake up and the instrument cluster light up. Again. Thank u for your video. God bless u
