SCX24: First Test of the Upgrades (tires/wheels/motor)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Taking the Axial SCX24 out on the rock course now that I have most of the upgrades done to it, As you can see in the video, it now needs to be balanced out and fine tuned. The 100t motor is just amazing compared to the stock one. We will figure out the rest on another video.

Great video, man. Good to see real world applications with all the mods. Just got the Rubicon a couple of days ago and I'm so tempted to empty the wallet on all the fancy mods. You brought up a really good point: weight. The more you add, the more differently it crawls. When you add too much, it can really affect things a lot before you know it. And your wallet is thinner with a fatter vehicle that does what it could do with some stock components. Nice backyard course, too!

With the smaller tires, there's that balance between scale and performance that we all make. Smaller tires are more scale, but performance is overall better with bigger tires. Eg. Cr18 tires, or rc4wd scrambler tires, which are bigger, much better clearance. But smaller have better sidehill, and better uphill as long as clearance isn't an issue. I recently put on cr18 Grabber M/T, with the cr18 24g brass wheel weights, and was able to use the scx24 brass spacer weights. Awesome performance upgrade! Cut some foam from my kids mini couch. lol Just leave space between the tire tread and the outer edge of the foam to create a little gap.. very squishy grippy outer-tire, with more support within the tire when needed and also gives better sidehill when the tire has more internal support. I figure lose the battery tray and get yourself two drone batteries. Set the batteries up in-parallel, and place them on both sides of the transmission. The batteries are 63x13x12mm. With a combined 700mah, higher C Rating, and lower CG than stock, it works pretty dang good. With the extra weight though, on an already heavily upgraded truck, you might want a bigger motor still. Sorry so long winded! I love that truck, and you've got me sold on the C10, I'm gonna have to get one. Even though ive got two freakishly modded scx24, and the parts for another. Thanks, you rock!

  • @BuyitBreakitFixit

Thanks for the comment, never too long. I actually have some drone batteries so I could try that. The tires, ahhh, IDK, the way the tires look just have my heart. Lol I just think the truck looks so freaking cool. I love the stance it has. I will pick the right line to make up for the clearance. And yes it side hills beautifully and climbs. Bigger motor is already here, found the rgt motor to try out. I also have the Leopard brushless sensored motor for it that I would pair with the mamba micro. I am still just having fun building, tinkering and such. I have most of the upgrades to make it even better at handling the weight the truck currently sits at (411.2grams) but I like to have fun with it at each stage of upgrade. If that makes sense. I also have the green C10 take is totally stock still and have most of the upgrades for it also. Haha I have a problem.🤣

Sweet video, The Goodyear Mt/r is taller at 54.4mm than the crusher at 48mm and is my favorite of the ones I have. And I have the crushers, the swampers, the dirt grabbers from RC4WD. The stock Nitto Grapplers from the deadbolt or jeep SCX24 are actually good tires and I have a hard time justifying all the 1” tires I own but I like to see what they do to change the way my jeep drives. Only other upgrade I have is the hot racing brass wheel weights and soon a new servo. The motor swap is a nice inexpensive option thanks for sharing. Thanks man. Really appreciate the nice comment. Ok, my opinion, first 3 mods/upgrades for me would be...brass milstone (hexes), 100turn motor (direct drop in), servo. All the other parts I could deal with. I personally dislike weak servos that why that would go. Then the truck just doesn't have the torque needed for those slow power climbs that why I say motor and the hexes add the low weight and widen the stance which help, big time. Again, this is just my opinion because of the way I like to drive my truck.

Rc4wd scrambler tire with rc4wd aluminium slots blow those away. The barrage motor with 9t pinion has way more torque than that punny motor. Had to drill new mounting holes. Easy and well worth it. Twice your motor size. Brass hexes and servo upgrade. Stretched my stock springs a little. Moved front bumper back to sit flush with the body. I think my deadbolt would crawl past you. No gunning the trigger and can crawl at the speed of a snail. You need to get rid of your foams. Didn't have to with scamblers. You can see them biting. Chevy body looks good. Does it fit the deadbolt wheel base?

Haha, you made me laugh. Lots of good info in your comment. Just the competitive way you worded it. 🤣 I have a rgt motor sitting here waiting to be installed but am trying to decide if I want that or the brushless sensored motor paired with the mamba micro. Just talked to a guy running that leopard brushless and he said he loves it. Not sure which way I am going as far as motor/esc goes. The 100t in it now was all I could get, parts fly off the shelves with these things. Tire, I now have almost every rc4wd tire to try out, these were the ones I could get. Lol. The foams, not sure about them yet either, I will try with no foams and see how it goes. How heavy is your deadbolt? Just curious if no foams handles weight.

Hey there, first thanks for watching and supporting the channel. The inner fender...I love them. They look great. Pros: clean look Can mount things on them under the body Adds rock sliders if you get the $51 ones Keeps the elements out of the electronics Do not notice any performance difference Cons: Does add some sprung weight Need to trim the rear so the body can hinge all the way open Cost $51 My opinion, definitely worth it 💯.
