Great presentation, Julien, learned quite some handy tips, and as always, the finished sculpture looks fantastic. 👏 ~Zach

I am inspired to see you brother, i am inspired by your videos. ❤
This method of presentation using readily available different stages of the sculpt is so well done!
Please work more on sculpt mod 🙏
An insane amount of useful and not-so-obvious tricks in just under one hour, amazing session! Thanks!
This is a great video, I wish there were more videos like this. It saved a lot of time for me.
Awesome tips Julien! Thanks man!
A lot of really good sculpting/ui input. Thanks!
Amazing! learned so many tricks from this!
well , well , well , .....nice......big thx.....
very good talk, a lot of useful things
whoah this was wild thx for the presentation i ve been using blender sculpting like a primitive man
13:49 imagine repeating last for brush strokes too, that would be so cool
This is really great
I am in love with this demmonstration, and a quick question. Is there any information on how to link up the object data to mirror the sculpt as demonstrated here? Been trying to figure that one out. I typically just use a mirror modifier, but of course that doesn't enable you to pose and still sculpt symmetrically.

Duplicate objects with Alt D instead of Shift D. Then they have the same object data. Otherwise you can also link object data from the active (last selected) to all selected objects via Ctrl L.

@@JulienKaspart Oh wow, thanks for the personal response Julien! Great insights, thank you 😁 Does this work with the usual .L and .R naming conventions to mirror the object data?

@@KeelanJon You're welcome. The objects can be called anything. Just the object data name is going to be the same between the objects.

@@JulienKaspart Ah I think I figured it out. So the issue I was having is the lacking of mirroring in the changes I make to an object, they were just being copied not mirrored. Looks like I had to mirror the objects local axis to ensure it was accurately mirroring the axis of it's symmertical counterpart. Always learning!
Just moved from Zbrush to blender. It took a couple of online courses and a few weeks to get use to it. I love it. Has the potential i think to surpass Zbrush. 2 features from zbrush I would love to see added 1) "project image to mesh" with the reference image. This really helps cut time when creating relief sculpture. In general build out the reference image features. 2) Add the ability to assign shortcuts to any "action". i.e. record multiple actions under one custom button or shortcut.

I'm not sure about the macros, but the 'Create shortcuts' and 'Quick favourites' help a lot.

Maybe this might help you: there is a similar feature(albeit a bit less powerful than you described) to "project image to mesh", and it is called "project from view". The downside of using this is that you will have to remesh the topology(because it may use a loot of vertices if it's related to a sculpt) and then in edit mode, press on the UV mapping key(default "U") and select project from view. Please note that you will need a background image/reference for this to work. You may have to ponder and look it up further, as instead you will have to add a texture slot instead. But it does sound like a cool feature that is indeed worthwhile to have it upgraded for sculpts as well. :D Also, when it comes to custom buttons, I believe that feature already exists as well, and as z-anatomy pointed out, the quick favourites option is available; you will have to further research these features from your end, because I am unfamiliar as I myself do not use these. Hope it helps!

@@Kestrel0907 The reference feature i'm talking about is similar to a standard reference image, it can be turned on and off with opacity settings etc but it literally overlays an image to any mesh in the viewport, just like a how a real life projector would work. Nothing to do with UVs or any changes to the mesh data.

im mostly looking for better performance in blender and the masking in zbrush feels a lot more convenient.

@@Joe-es3jg Yes, I agree. Zbrush has many more features and sub features with 100 different buttons, dials, sliders to go along with it to get the exact outcome one needs. People are paying for the software, the most important thing about zbrush is raw function and speed. Blender seems to take into consideration much more the balance of the UI and how other features will be incorporated cleanly into the experience. Whether or not the new feature is REALLY necessary? I have to think this as i'm sure they have devs who know zbrush inside and out but don't add many really nice convenient features to blender.
It would be nice if multiple viewports updated while sculpting, similar to how vertex editing works when you're working with orthographic front and side views. Maybe it's a performance thing which is harder to implement than it sounds, but it sure would be nice.

Did you try the quad view? You can also create windows in 3D viewport and they'll be updated in real time.
Multi-res sculpt painting and poseable symmetry would be a game changer
Blender sculpting features are amazing except for the fact that when I press ctrl+z to undo it changes my slected brush to the standard brush, which is so frustrating it is unusable. Please fix this so that I am able to use and enjoy Blender Sculpting.

Nice presentation! Tbh a lot of circumstances todo expected things on the fly. Ialso would like to see hard surface sculpting abilities of blender!
I can't with that remesh mawmah plz
Are any of those base models you had open source, available to the public??

How did you add "set attibute"? I cant find it anywhere. Great session btw.

I could not get the "Set attribute" option in 4.0.2. But I opened the same file in 4.1beta and it was there now. So I think it's only a 4.1 feature.
remember when blender didnt even have sculpting tools, then remember when it got it , they so un performant that everyone just used zbrush and mudbox, now the tools are so dang good and integrate into the rest of the blender tools so well that hundreds of artists just stopped using zbrush altogether. Now if we can just get texture baking and painting tools to this degree of quality of life perfection , then i'll be in heaven
Thank you for these amazing updates, anyway these can be imported over to industry standard? I'm coming from a Maya Background.
There is a question, in the video I saw a lot of handy tools about engraving, so are there some similar tools used in weight mode? Such as extending masks or weights along the surface of an object?
2:07 - How do I get that pie menu? I have pie menu enabled in the preferences for edit modes and shading modes but never seen that option before to switch between window types ... as an ex maya user this appeals to me quite a bit.
how to see his blog? I wanna see that
When I download the base mesh file, I do not see the versions that are separated that allows you to pose the model before sculpting. Will this be an update in the future?

I was wondering this as well. He vaguely said they would be added "soon" but we don't know what that means. I would hope it comes alongside the 4.0 update.
Hi guys where can one find the free good mesh for masculat body shapes
Dang where was the Alt Q button when I created my first 3D character the other week 🤣 wouldve saved me an hour or 2
i love zbrush...but omfg...
