I saw a Pinterest post of felty cloth mushrooms attached to pillows like they were growing out of them, and I would watch the crap out of you making a pillow like that. My inner mushroom gremlin can never get enough 🍄

Ok, so I have done air dry clay tusks for a cosplay and used clear elmer’s glue to sort of seal it and add some strength to it. You don’t have to use Elmer’s but any PVA glue or even a slightly thinned wood glue should keep them from breaking :)

So cute! I like the fly amanita you did with the 3D textured white bits, def makes it look more realistic. So many possibilities to decorate with them.

i think it would be really cute to attach these to a bookshelf somehow, that was my first idea when you mentioned shelves before you put the picture... like if you made it look like they were growing out of the bookshelf that would be cool

I'm addicted to mushrooms as well 👀😂 I'm literally crocheting a little fidget mushroom pop guy as we speak (or type I guess lol). I'll definitely have to make some clay mushrooms when I'm done with this project. Also, you are HILARIOUS I love your puns and random remarks. Thank you for being unapologetically yourself!

I just can't imagine how anyone would criticize mushrooms geez like you said "get over it" Shrooms are here to stay. Thanks for the inspiration and I'm currently looking at my very first air-dry clay creations and guess what?, they are mushrooms too. I was stuck on how to paint them and decided to look at some vids and yours was my first and I loved watching you and feel a instant vibe of sister from another mother thing Lol... Any-who I will be trying out some of your other ideas in the future at least I'm pretty sure. Take care my dear and Craft on!

I have been meaning to use up my air dry clay (hilariously, I'm yearning for the air dry foam clay so we're going in the opposite direction), and this really looks a lot better than my previous attempt at making mushrooms - I think I'm going to try these next week :) Thank you for posting, and I hope the burnout becomes less crispy crittered.

These are so cute! I really enjoy sculpting with air dry clay and love the texture of crayola clay, but I really struggle to paint my dry pieces as paint seems to reactivate the clay 😩

I would start with a spray paint base to prime it before going in with acrylic (and stay away from any water based paints). Also you have to wait 2-3 days for it to fully harden before you paint. Which is annoying, admittedly. I switch back and forth between air dry and baked clay depending on what I’m using it for.

These turned out so well! Funny I was at a hobby store and my husband suggested I buy air dry clay to make mushrooms! He hee. I live in Sweden and want to make like a fairy forest like scene with mushrooms and a wolf and some trolls. To like show fairies wondering in the forest here in northern Sweden. Ok silly but whatever. He hee. I have never made anything with clay before so I will have to build up to this. A few questions -does the air dry clay just like dry on its own? Like you just sit them somewhere and they dry hard in a few days? =can you use super glue, or a hot glue gun on them? I want to make some mushrooms and glue them to a piece of flat wood like have them standing up like in a forest, fairy scene. Is it safe like chemically to use glue to attach them ? The air dry clay will not crack easy or something? =what type of paint do you use to paint them? Cool video!

So yes the air dry clay just dries on it’s own after a couple days. After one day it’s dried out but is still somewhat malleable but is harder then after two days it’s pretty much hardened. I just sit where I want them to dry, just making sure it’s not stuck to the surface (some people set them on parchment paper) I believe you can use any glue. It’s somewhat similar to regular clay and I haven’t heard of any chemical reactions. I’m planning on making the majority of mine into magnets for my black board and I’ll probably super glue them on. I think the clay cracks at the same rate as regular sculpty clay, it can chip but after painting and sealing it should be fine. I primed mine with a both in one (prime and paint) pray paint then painted over it with acrylic craft paint. Then I used a clear sealer/top coat spray paint that is meant to seal art projects. If I wanted it to be more durable I might go over that with a ceramics glaze (after painting and sealing).

You can put magnets in the mushrooms, then use magnetic thumbtacks or nails in the walls. Then they can be used on walls and fridges, etc. 🍄
