The highest rev limit for me is 5000 on the tuner , is there any way to get up to 6000 or 7000

Do you have any BAMA custom tune with this tuner or just using a Strategy Tune?

Does that mess with the tune Bama sends you that's loaded on the car ?

Rev. Limit Neutral cuts Fuel and not Spark (same as the stock rev limiter). You know it cuts fuel/runs you lean because you do not get the backfire "pop" like a WOT box that cuts the spark does. I do not recommend anyone doing this with their car if you don't want some detonation and serious internal issues.

So how do you figure it's detonating/ running lean? There's no fuel to detonate. If theres no fuel it's just a big air compressor. How do you think the Dispalcement on demand works. They shut off the fuel. Now if your spraying and hit the factory limiter you will get an instant lean condition and that SUCKS. Don't ask me how I know.

@helimech2003 The leaner an engine gets the hotter the combustion temps get. The hotter combustion temps are what cause the detonation. When an engine leans out the "combustion" temps increase dramatically and the detonation that occurs happens very quickly. Too quickly for a Knock sensor to do anything about it, especially at high rpms. In regards to "cylinder deactivation", it's not what you think it is. Google is your friend but so am I:) Cylinder deactivation is basically keeping the intake and exhaust valves closed through all cycles for a particular set of cylinders. Depending on the design of the engine (Over Head Cam vs. Pushrod) is what happens in valve actuation.

Hey man, got bama's 2 step supposedly loaded to my tune but had nothing... tried your strategy tune recommendation and that completely overwrites the bama tune, my car couldn't even idle correctly without it due to my mods strategy tune overwrites the custom

Hmm, that's interesting. And this is what you found out in your experience? Because with mine, I didn't notice any drop in power or throttle response, so I'm thinking that mine didn't overwrite my tune. Sorry to hear that this didn't work for you. What mods do you have? And how was your car idling?

    Does it work on automatics?

  • @joey20112

I'm gonna assume that it probably doesn't, since this is not an official launch control; it's a neutral rev limiter, meaning while the car is stationary, the revs will only reach 2500 and since using the clutch on a manual is required to move at all, launching is doable because all one would have to do is floor the gas pedal and slip the clutch. On an automatic, since you're always in gear and there is no clutch-like mechanism to act as the middleman between in-gear and neutral, I doubt it would work, because again, this is not an feature that was designed as a launch control, it just happens to act as one for the manual ponies. By all means, give it a try because I'd be interested to hear whether or not it worked. Not many people seem to know about this feature.

You could try that, but I don't recommend it. Neutral doesn't take long to start wearing down your transmission.

Just thought id let you know i have a gt and I tried that,The neutral rev works fine but it caps the driving rev limit at the same rpm as the neutral no matter what the driving rev limit is set at.Kinda dangerous driving with a 2500-3000 rev limiter haha good tutorial tho called bama and had them email me a tune with a fix.

Yikes! That is concerning. I would have suggested checking your driving rev limiter to make sure it wasn't set around there, but glad to know Bama fixed it, though on a different note, I do not recommend using their tunes.

Yeah I checked and it wasn't set anywhere near that still had the same as the neutral rev when driving tho. They also said they didn't know why that option was in there as they had to do it on their end. Also if you have a bama tuner what tunes do you use then?

Gara024 That is really strange, never heard of anything like that happening before. And when I still had the car, I went from a Bama tune to a custom dynotune that I got in Jacksonville and the performance and drivability gains were immediately noticeable. With the Bama tune, I was having idling issues, acceleration issues and things of that nature that were annoying, especially after having requested fixes for them. But if there's not a dyno near you, then I recommend MPT tuning; they unfortunately don't have a free tunes for life program like Bama does, but I can promise they'll get more power out of the car and drivability will be improved significantly. I have friends that switched from Bama to MPT and none of them have looked back.

joey20112 just tried it and the same thing happened to me, so i restored to stock now when i idle it drops to 500 and up to 1000 and will repeatedly do this till i start moving. kinda bummed haha

***** And this is part of the reason why I would advise against using Bama.... I'm assuming that's the tune you have, right? Do yourself a favor and spend $75 to purchase some MPT custom tunes, they make Bama look like utter trash.
