This piece is one of Scriabin's early works, but it is a masterpiece that combines a powerful melody reminiscent of Russian folk songs with the precise compositional structure seen as in Chopin. The part where the theme changes key every measure ("C Sharp minor" to "E Sharp minor" to "E Flat minor" to "B Flat minor") reflects the composer's unique ideas, and I think it is a part that particularly fascinates performers and audiences. I played this piece because I wanted to introduce it to children who aspire to be musicians. (T. Hase)
