This episode ain’t it. You’ve got JM on who is one of the most inspirational drivers after coming back from a crash that could have KILLED HIM and those two have the nerve to say that they don’t really care about the racing just about drivers lives?? Really disappointing that those two have this platform. I hope we get another episode with just JM, he actually deserves it!🙄

If Lissie or any other women content creator said half of the things they said, she would be cancelled immediately and the comment section would be looking differently. But somehow they are funny saying those things. Also the audacity to come on someone pod and not knowing single thing about the host?

Given Screaming Meals is a podcast that's really heavy on racing detail - a massive part of its appeal - and drivers talking to each other in a way that the media doesn't get from them it's really, honestly, a bit heartbreaking to hear that because the audience skews female it's assumed we don't watch the racing. An incredibly uncomfortable watch and the first episode I've ever abandoned.

I've enjoyed every single Screaming Meals episode but this one was a struggle. I don't care if they're new fans (everybody is new at some point), I don't care if they make mistakes (again, you're new, you're learning)... but the total lack of interest in the sport that's giving them money, contacts and amazing experiences (impossible for the rest of us to get) was very annoying. Also, the generalization "fans don't care about the races at all, we want to know the drivers outside the track"... I may make an effort to find it funny if I hadn't been listening to that (with a clear accusing tone) for 28 years of my life. Going from the episode with Jamie Chadwick to this was a massive downgrade.

The thing is that they got called out a few months ago for being a little clueless and not knowing. The fact that they didn’t seemingly learn a lot from that and learn more about the driving is surprising, clearly they didn’t clean up their act. alright let me demystify why the SM fan base is 95% female (btw this applies to all sports not just motorsport). Firstly, within mainstream sports fandom, including social media, there is an obvious male hegemony. As the number of female fans rise through the years, more of them will face misogyny and sexism within the fan community like having to “prove” their fan credentials and being labeled as “inauthentic fans”. Due to this nature of the fandom, female fans have to modify their online behavior and form micro-communities where they discuss the sport without the sexism. Thus, podcasts like SM allow for that to happen: a more unfiltered lowkey platform about motor sports where fans don’t have prove anything to anyone and not labeled as inauthentic. This is from the research paper I read by A Fenton. Hope it was insightful :)

big screaming meals fan but this episode is wrong on so many levels: 1:20 admitting they just want to travel, they say they love the sport but never bother to learn anything about it 14:30 basically calling drivers boring “we’re not massive diehard f1 fans” - imagine a woman saying this on a podcast 19:47 i dont know if its just the way i was raised but you dont ask someone how much money they earn, i think it’s quite rude 31:54 go on a f2 podcast but dont know anyone - Juan Manuel correa 46:14 again, rude 48:20 saying “no one gives a f*ck about your racing” again is plain rude. to say you dont care about racing infront of three people who lost a friend racing and another who nearly lost his life is ridiculous 48:38 marcus your my favourite driver but to say you dont think majority of your fans dont watch racing and just like the idea of it isnt right - woman are naturally more like to interact with the field in what they’re interested in than men, its not the wine or the fact youre a racing driver it’s the sport and the interest in the sport men will never understand whats its like to be a fan of a male dominated sport like formula 1, formula 2, indy car, formula e. its so hard to try and have a platform or to even try to give an opinion without being shut down and to give a platform to people who are rude, ignorant and know nothing about the sport is awful. i love screaming meals but this episode was a hard watch, i’ll be rewatching the previous episodes but not this one.

i have loved every single episode but this one. As a young female f1 fan, i find it so hard to sit here and listen to men say that people, especially women, don't watch the races, likely assuming we watch it for the 'attractive' drivers. F1 has ultimately saved my life, and watching the races is a highlight of my week. In the world of F1 that constantly degrades and undermines women and their interest in the sport, I find the pitstop boys in this episode incredibly ignorant and privileged. The F1 community has so many educated and inspiring women forging their careers in a sport that they love, yet, these women get torn down for anything and everything they say by men who ultimately know nothing about the sport or its fans. If these women said anything similar to what the pitstop boys said in this episode, they would be torn down and heavily criticised immediately. I thought the pitstop boys couldn't get worse, yet they have managed to swoop to the lowest of levels.

Bold of them to say fans don't care about the racing when they themselves openly admit that they're not really massive F1 fans, they don't even know who JMC is, or who Seb won his titles with... we need new fans of the sport and everyone has to learn at some point but there's a difference between not knowing, and kind of boasting that they don't know or care something. Also, for guys who receive many benefits for having this podcast, getting interviews with drivers, getting invited to races etc, it's a bit of a kick in the teeth for them to boast about how they don't care that much about F1. It's also quite galling for them to then try and claim fans don't care about the racing - so why are we fans then? The implications there.... - when they openly admit how they don't know basic, google-able, facts. I also find it extremely disrespectful to JMC and everything he went through, almost dying, fighting to walk again, to get back in a race car, and to Anthoine Hubert and his memory, and his family and friends, to see them laughing about how they don't know who JM is, to see them admit they don't care much about the racing, in front of him. How on earth must that make him feel? This was very poor, I've got to say. Not impressed at all.

I never bought into the pitstop boys when they first came about, and haven't watched any of their content before. After seeing backlash on other socials, I watched this and it's just disappointing. Of course people care about the racing, they will care about the drivers aswell but the racing is the reason the sport is so big. DTS was so good for bringing fans into the sport but it doesn't do reality justice and makes the real thing comparatively and unfairly poor.

listen... at the beginning, i really liked that the pitstop podcasters basically represented and became a relatable voice of the people who were also newbies to the sport. i got into f1 about the same time the two of them did as well, and them being earnestly fresh and wide-eyed in this super complex new world really endeared them to me. but what theyve been able to accomplish while seemingly demonstrating no visible advances in either knowledge or, quite honestly, interest in the sport is frankly unprecedented. (what is that saying? something about average white guys somehow failing upwards? hmmmm….. anyway) which isnt even what really rubs me the wrong way - its that they seemingly somehow lucked into a career that many other equally if not far more deserving creators want so badly, and yet for whatever reason couldnt obtain, and it doesnt even seem like they like it that much. not to mention the absolute giant elephant in the room that is the issue of sexism in f1 in general. to dismiss female fans as less focused on the sport than the drivers when both of them have said outright in this podcast alone that they arent even super into f1 at all......... bombastic fucking side eye lmao ill be the first to admit i dont know much about f1 and its history/technical elements/past drivers/etc., and yet i still enjoy it. im also not blindsided by the reality of the sport, which is that its still largely dominated by men. and im also not saying the most interest/investment should automatically correlate into the most success in a particular field - and im 100000% not even saying they dont work hard or they dont point blank deserve everything theyve gotten. but this dismissive kind of superiority complex and attitude towards female fans who are constantly hounded about our own knowledge of and intent/reason for being a fan of the sport (like it should even matter to anyone at all) while the two of them are outwardly aloof about their investment in f1……. i just dont think its a great look for anyone involved

Both Screaming Meals and Pit Stop boys were in the wrong here. I just can't believe that they still generalize their fans as "fans of the reality series" rather than fans of the motorsport. I‘m usually a silent viewer on KZread but I feel like I have to get this off my chest. This podcast episode made me angry, sad and disappointed on many levels. This is why: Your accusations of women being interested in motorsport solely because of the driver’s looks and the comments by the PitStop boys as well as their behaviour (especially towards JM) are very disrespectful. There are many misogynistic elements in the video, which I‘m not going to repeat. I’m a massive sports fan. Not only motorsport, but also tennis and other sports. Watching races or matches is a ritual that I’m excited for every week. I get invested in something I’m passionate about, which is why I love listening to podcasts, watching interviews, learning about the history of a sport, reading biographies, getting to know sports personalities, and consuming the “behind the scenes“ content. I don’t watch DTS because I think it’s fake and prefer Chasing the Dream because it seems realistic. Why do you think so many women would take their free time to inform themselves about a sport if they were not interested in it? Just assuming that we would be a fan of a rich lifestyle, parties, fame and glamour is beyond me. It’s a superficial view on women who are interested in sports. Speaking for myself, I’m not somebody who is interested in that. Mostly, I’m concerned that so many people have no private life when being in the public eye. I love your podcast because it gives a fun insight into F1, F2 and Indycar. Hearing how somebody analyses a race from a driver’s point of view is very insightful and something I’d not hear in a TV interview. The episode with Jamie Chadwick was one of my favourites. Seeing more women get into motorsport makes me proud, knowing that the environment is sometimes extremely hard to be in for us. I really hope that you take this comment section seriously and educate yourselves about why some of the things you said are highly problematic. I’d love to see a whole interview with JM in the future, as he seems to be a genuinely good guy on and off track and I have a lot of respect for him after everything he’s been through.

In my opinion it's so telling that the PitStop boys only care for the money and attention that especially f1 brings them. There is absolutely not a single aspect they truly enjoy when it comes to the racing aspect. That's why it feels like such a kick in the face for all of you. I feel bad watching you, your passion and livelihood being disrespected during this whole episode. And why do they have to bring up DTS in every third sentence? Like come on, it's clear that's the only thing they care about. After having Lissie and Jamie on the pod (you absolutely smashed the episodes, they were brilliant) this is such a disappointment. I see a lot of people holding the PitStop guys accountable, but at some point we have to recognize that the hosts of the Screaming Meals podcast haven't been it lately either. From asking Lissie which driver she finds attractive, which yeah, may have been just a joke, but a joke that actively promotes this idea that women can't be into motorsport, they're just into drivers. To the pipeline from Marcus admitting that most of his/this podcast's fans are female to the "Most of our fans don't even watch the races." (I can assure you I do, but with each passing ridiculous statement, I'm focusing my attention and support on others). Even having these fools on the podcast, going on about how they don't care about racing, they only care about the drivers and their dramas and personal lives - something they accuse female fans of in a derogatory way so often, but when men say it, they're giggling and agreeing. It's hard to be a woman F1 fan, but it's a lot easier to take the blatant misogyny from regular, irrelevant male fans than it is from the drivers we've invested time in supporting. Quite literally everyone in this episode besides JM needs to do some serious reflection and show the least bit of gratitude and appreciation to the people who have supported them both in this podcast and in their racing careers. 🙄
