Rewatching it now a couple of months later I also think that James recognised the misogyny right away and jumped in (in addition to him never missing a chance to talk about Leclerc‘s hotness)

I love the convo about f1 vs Indy prices. F1 definitely thrives on exclusivity. Going to Indy races you literally can walk up to the cars and drivers it’s really fun! I feel like it almost makes the fan encounters a lot calmer. I’ve never been to an F1 race but when I see fan footage it looks like the fans have to spend hours trying to see a driver or get a picture and people pushing around etc. Feels like scarcity creates demand in f1

that's what is appealing to me about indycar. I'm from the midwest usa and I enjoy the more casual, blue collar and accessible feeling that indycar provides. I dont know if thats just a midwestern sensibility thing. Its more casual but definitely does not "feel" cheap. I dislike the celebrities and insanity of f1 races.

thanks to lissie this almost turned into a decent interview for once (but of the guys, not her 😂) this was a delightful episode tho! she's a great interviewer and seems like a very nice and fun person

The Indy 500 has been on memorial day forever. F1 scheduled Monaco there on that date to directly compete against (and take away from) Indycar. Also, Indycar was international until about 10 years ago, they still were going to Japan and Brazil. They stopped due to financial issues. Also also, it's not just recently that the best of the best drivers weren't all in F1. That's a forever thing lol. Ain't no way any one league anywhere is getting the top 20 guys in the world at any point in history lol

I think the reason why most f1 drivers pr teams wouldn't let them on this podcast is because the hosts come off slightly douche-y just because they are 3 rich guys talking shit about anything. Which is totally fair but being around them would probably make the drivers seem unrelateable which would make them more unlikeable.
