Use a chop saw to cut the ends off much easier and quicker.

I scrapped and sold a aircon the same size last week I got $4 for compressor and $20 for radiator the rest I kept in my copper and brass collection electric motor was 80c per kg bright wire was $11.50 per kg Australian prices.

Here in Tulsa they give me number 2 for the elbows on the copper. A trick I learned is to take all the copper with no joints or solder and lay them flat in a tote and soak them in a mix of salt and vinegar for about 20 mins. It'll clean all the junk and corassion off it. But make sure you wash it thoroughly after you pull it out. If not it'll make the copper turn green. After that you'll get number 1 copper. :)

I just cut all pieces with solder joints off as #2 and the rest is #1 at my yard as long as no paint or other foreign matter on it. if anything a quick hit on the wire wheel and good to go

On those stators I chew through the copper loop with an aviation snip and then spread the ends parallel so they can pass through. Of course clamped in a bench vise. Flip it over and pry under the intact loop with a BIG screw driver or tapered rod. No copper fragments flying around, kerf losses, or consumable blades used. The size you show there would cost me 10-15 minutes. First one I ever did cost me an hour, price of education.

need a big vice. your making good time on them

put an ac condenser between you air compressor pump and the tank as an air drier .Makes plasma cutter consumables last 10 times longer

that would make a good one, I have a drier inline just out of the tank, and another one on the back of the plasma cutter. so far so good

Don't know if you will read this comment seeing this video is 6 months old but if you do have you tried this , when you are removing copper from motor windings after you cut off the one end grab your channel locks and grab hold of the windings and now with your free hand use your hammer and hit the steel housing and if you have to grab the other side that are part way out and they should all come out in one piece ! Good luck !!

I have tried many ways, I now have a bit that I use in the air chisel it is a wide flat blade and I cut a V out of it so it looks like a Y and I put the tip through the windings and hit the trigger and out come the copper. Thanks for the tip and for watching

@@Okiescrapper I hope one day to start again I use to go to what we call carboot sales on a Sunday each week I saved so much scrap I made 3770 English pounds I had 1000 kilo of brass that made 1500 pounds so I know you can make alot of money from scrap

What is the smaller tank on the side of the sealed unit, and is it copper or what? Also I was told that any copper tubing that has had freon in it is always #2, is that right?

if it is on the side of the sealed unit it may be the capacitor, I sell my tubbing as # 1 as long as no solder or paint on it, every yard is different, best to just call your yard

That is the suction accumulator , it’s on an ac system to prevent liquid from slugging or damaging the compressor , they are only steel

donno dude, the a/c units i get ae so dirty and rusted i do better cutting most of it apart. yours looks to me as pretty clean, did you pressure wash it first?

Don't cut the plug off the power cord! Cut the cord at the unit... The GFI plug and cord are worth more than the copper in the wire.
