No wonder I can't find any lead. You've got it all!
Ive watched thiss video quite a few times this year and look at my 5 gallon bucket thats 1/4 full and shed tears lol
Grinnin' like a squirrel on a holler log full o' nuts.
Thank You very much for mentioning that website Elvis. That helps a lot.
I just found your video on processing wheel weighs. It answers my questions. Thanks.
Great video! I appreciate your time and info!!
Love to have some of them leads for my sinkers. Wow! What a haul!! Great job Mr Ammo!!
I'm envious of your lead haul, you sir are good at what you do.
WOW!!! I miss those days we used to do that every summer for 15 cents a pound.
This is the video I would say was the basis for helping me get into casting. That volume of lead is still shocking to see!! Glad to see Elvis coming out with new videos and continuing the casting passion. The testing on steel plates Elvis did with 223 was awesome, too...and ballistics gel!!! This video in the youtube suggestions brought me back to the beginning of a great hobby and passion.
That is an amazing haul! Good for you!

Elvis, you’re the man!!! I’m just now getting into casting my own bullets, and just found a tire shop that’s going to give me my first 5 gallon bucket of lead tire weights!! I’m excited!! Thank you for the tip brother!!
You're welcome. Most definetely gonna check out rotometals. Thanks for the info.
Hey Elvis, I live in SC too and I can get lead from tire shops as well -- but never more than one or maybe 2 buckets at a time. I think the reason is because you're getting it all! What an awesome haul!

you lucky dawg!!! awesome find!!!! one of the best channels on you tube!!!
Elvis ammo! I found a few tire places near me that hooked me up with 3 5 gallon buckets of wheel weights. So I started going through the first bucket sorting out the lead. Yesterday I did my first ingot casting in my cast iron dutch oven. It went flawlessly. Just like your videos showed me how to do it. Thanks for all your knowledge and your videos! There great! Take care and happy reloading!
boy your stocking up on lead like its gonna be worth its weight in gold someday lol an it just might. love it
Very nicely done Elvis Ammo👍🏽 Those buckets get heavy. Scored 3 from one shop. Felt magical to score about 450lbs of WW
Fantastic great job
Dang you Elvis, now I'm going have to get into another hobby. Good video!
Best I've seen yet hell of a haul for sure good stuff
Ive got 5 tire shops that i pick up from, good haul Elvis, greetings from the Heart of Dixie
I am casting some weights to weigh down a storage chest so no one can pick it up without first opening the chest and removing the weights. This video was incredibly helpful and I appreciate you giving out information on how to acquire lead.
love these videos thanks for the tips. I thought wrecking yard, I never thought of your other ideas.
I've collected lead from tire stores But as you pour I also hear the non lead weight's as they have a higher pitch ting sound .
Great video thank you.
Outstanding!

@@elvisammo Thank you for being one of the few people to say to fight rather than to move. The refugee mindset won't help us in the long run. Support gun owners behind the iron curtains, and gun owners there have to put their time in writing letters, signing the petitions, voting, and educating other gun owners AND non-gun owners. Especially kids. Plenty who can be cultivated into proper patriotic gun owners, we just need to give them the opportunity.
Dang Elvis! That's a big ol' pile of lead!
That's awesome man thanks for the info just getting into the casting seen but that's a huge tip.

hey chevy6299... they don't seem to throw a lot of junk in there with them... I like that!! Thanks for commenting God Bless!!!
Elvis - This is one of the finest, if not the finest, wheelweight acquisition videos on YT..!! - I used to buy three of those 5 gallon buckets of lead at a time from the metal scrapyard before wheelweights were banned in CA (tire shops used to give me a couple of handfuls or a little bucket, wasn't worth the effort back then - now they have to turn in quotas so they can't give out any). Your lead supply makes my getting 20 pounds of range scrap at a time look like a drop in the bucket...!! Well done. If I lived near you, I'd help you melt that down just for the fun of doing it...!! My casting pot died so I have replacement on order so I can cast up a lot of bullets to do those 3 new Eastwood colors... Have a great day, FC Steve

If you was to help me make ingots, we'd have some of the finest chow mein, egg rolls, and fortune cookies for desert. With nothing but good news in them! : ) ... I might even send ya home with another chicken to make ya more eggs! : ) ...Sorry about your melting pot! You finally used that thing one time to many... You made lots of bullets. And the price for a new one aint bad! Thanks for all your hard work and awesome videos!

Hey Mr. FortuneCookie45Lc, i've been following you for a while and love your videos educating me how to cast bullets from start to finish. Do you know where to get cheap or free lead?
2021 here, who’s the dumb one now that nobody can find ammo. This man is a god for being ahead of the curve.
In my neck of the woods a person would be lucky to find one or two buckets of old wheel weight at $1 a pound.

That is in ingot form ready to go. I even bought the mini loaf tins off Amazon that you use. So I just want to say thank you and I miss your videos man

Tim pinkham it's not quite as bad as it looks lead is so heavy that you just put a bunch in your melting pot and everything but lead floats to the surface and you just skim it off the top it's quite fun. Just be careful
Your videos are awesome and your opening is extremely funny keep it up!!!!

Hey Elvis wanted to let you know of a new outlet for great clean range scrap lead. I have 2 Indoor ranges with in 60 miles of me. I get it clean no dirt or paper, steel excetra. they charge me 400.00$ a ton. I went to Lowes and bought 40 buckets and 40 lids to put 50 lbs into each and keep dry and out of the weather. They generate a ton each month Im building a 300 pound melting pot to make ingots. Chat soon I've learned a lot from watching you and Fortunecookie45lc Thacks
Another source, watch for older house re-roof, I got a good amount of lead from the old lead vent jacks off roofs.
Hey Elvis, man thats awesome. Wish we could get the same here in taxachusetts. Ive been to every tire shop with in a 20 mile range and no luck. I guess its illegal for them to get rid of it unless its recycled properly at a recylcling center. Ive been forced to get it off of ebay...anyhow its still cheaper than buying bullets. thanks for the videos man...keep em coming. Shoot safe.

hey Andres Crespo. ... that place is run by Taxaholics.... that's what we're doing! RECYCLING! and properly! ; ) I don't know if you tried rotometals or not " free shipping " but yes way cheaper than buying and more satisfying! thanks again! !!!
Отличный результат, тоже запасы свинца сделал,думал что мне достаточно, но, посмотрев ваше видео понял-нужно еще,на много больше. Удачных выстрелов.
Same in! Where all the lead is.
I spent about a hour digging through the 3 55g barrels at one of the local tire shops yesterday and got about 35-40lbs of lead. I’m kind of torn between time and value. It was free.. but I charge $80/h for my plumbing rate. Seems to be getting to where it’s worth more to work and buy the less than scrap it. But.. on slow days I’ll go dig through the barrels
fellow South Carolinian here, and I can't find any tire shops willing to give up wheel weights cause they already have deals with other people that want them (haha, and now I know who!). but I'm lucking to work at a TA Truck Shop where I get first dibs on any weights that come off the tires, and some of these truck tires take up to a full pound to balance them and times that by 10 tires on the tractor and 8 on the trailer. I think the most I've ever pulled off was 5 pounds of lead weights after swapping out all 8 drive tires. only down side is they are around 80% stick on weights. if I ever get desperate enough I might try cracking open one of the massive 60lb batteries those trucks take. we always have around 30 of them on a pallet we sell for scrap.
Do you add anything to the wheel weight lead before casting or do you just smelt clean and cast bulelts
I haven't had any luck with tire shops in TX.
Man that's a lot of work. My back hurts watching you work. Last video you had your Dog helping you . Your brother from jersey buys his bullets made already. Never got into casting . We do have a good bullet caster in toms river called C and J casting . He does a good job ,and I won't blow my back out . Keep up the hard work.
I’m new to the lead casting world. I just got done doing my first batch of ingots. They came out “OK”. Just wondering if when after fluxing and stirring prior to pouring, if you take “all” the skim off the top? or is some of that stuff on top supposed to stay with the lead that you pour for the ingots? Any and all help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
I have a great guy that is a mobile tire fitter for truck's. I give him a case of beer for buckets of lead every month. His brother swapped me 85kg of printing lead letter for 250 bird shot 12g shells, I know I got the good end of that deal. Love your channel Elvis.

A lot of weight on the suspension of the truck a good way to bust a spring and brake a axle. Make small trips. Good job on your lead making. I've found a same what lead but it's very hard

That's a American pickup truck son......looks like maybe a Dodge by the tail lights. It could be a 3/4 or 1 ton truck as well. Not everybody drives Toyota and Nissan garbage. I have a 2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4x4 off road, long bed super cab with the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel V8 myself. You ain't gonna "bust" that truck....trust me!
It's hoarders like you that make it super hard for anyone else to score a bucket full. Ease up Elvis! Leave some for the rest of us😢

Hi Elvis, I’ve been collecting range scrap, but since there’s only one range close to me, I’ve gotten about all I can until it builds back up. I’ve been thinking about wheel weights, but have heard that now they are using a lot of zinc and that’s not supposed to be good. I know you made a video on using zinc, but for now I want to stay with lead. How do you know the difference between the two and what happens if a small amount of zinc gets mixed in by mistake? Thanks
Looks like I need to get busy!
Thanks man
me too on the 80 percent sc rules
mmmmmmmm all that nice lead, i wish it was mine ^^

hey sablahedning..... I wish ya had one just like it!!! thanks for commenting and watching!
Hey Elvis, you should make a video using some of your new lead hall 🔫😃
I'm paying .30 cents a pound for mixed lead wheel weights at the local scrapyard here. I bet I see 70% - 80% usable lead out of that. When you find stick on pure lead wheel weights in there it kinda makes up for all the bum ones. I save those separate for another batch of just those. It takes awhile to come up with any amount of them before it is worthwhile melting them down. I have a 20 quart, 7 quart and 2 quart Dutch ovens. It depends on what I am doing for which one I use at that given time. If at all possible I try to use the 20 quart the first time. It keeps everything more uniform and all in the same alloy weighing the same that way. I have multiple size ingot molds I store and use my lead in. The big boy is a 11 1/2 pound ingot. I use that one to process, hoard and store large quantities of lead. I have 5 and some change pound molds I use when I want to store/use them. Also have Lyman 1 pound ingot molds for topping off the pot while I am casting. Also have some trapezoid ones I made myself out of angle iron and welded them up with sides and handles. I don't use those very often but every once in awhile I do.
Chain tire shops don't give them up but they do drop them and I scrounge them around the shop when closed. Shops at truck stops may give up the trash weights if ask.
I see your point but in what part of earth would you make that many bullets from that much lead?
Gaggum! The back of the truck lifted noticeably.
Hey Elvis im in nc! Small world!
Man i wish it was this simple, i work as a mechanic so getting weights is no problem. The issue is that in Europe lead weights have been banned since around 2005 or something, theyre all zinc now.
I cast a lot of bullets and also sinkers, but I find that slot of my sinkers get turned into bullets lol. Wish I had some of that.
how much did it cost you to fill the last barrel (last haul)
Lucky sob! Lol I've called every scrap yard around and not one has lead or wheel weights anymore

Go to a shooting range when it's dead and use a sifter I seen one guy pull over 100 pounds of lead from a hill in no time flat
Great score Elves I remember herring Obama closed all lead mines in the US and that There will be no more leaded gasoline available anywhere I don’t know how this relates to let bullets but I thought I would throw it out there
you Elvis are a hard worker. I just asked my mechanic for some wheel wiehhts but in winter to.e about 6 months here in Toronto eh

With powdercoating do we still need more than just wheel weights for hardness for 1000fps ?
@elvisammo

Wheel weights are the very best in my opinion he has everything you need
👍👍👍👍👍
What’s your ratio on lead for your casting?
Lead weights are banned in Maine. I suppose I'd have to keep my eye out for old abandoned cars and the occasional out of state car that needs a new tire.
@damontragicville4536
3 жыл бұрын
They banned abortion there too
Right now in VT, im getting 40% lead, 40% steel and 20% zinc
Gotta watch the wheel weights now as they are about 30% steel or zinc. Pain in the tail to sort them all out.
When using wheel weights for casting do you add other materials?
@elvisammo
2 жыл бұрын
No. I just separate the soft stick on weights.
You got it,, thank you. What you just ask the tire shops,? They give to you?
Hi Elvis, up here I;ve nearly only the access to range scrap. And these are mainly .22 LR . Is that enough hardness to cast .38 specials with ? Thanks and keep up the good work !
