This is where my Mom was born and raised. She's a Stewart. She hasn't been back in years, but would love to go. I'd also love to go. It looks absolutely beautiful!

Nichelle Rhiannon You definitely should go! I knew nothing about Ayr before visiting. Loved it so much I flew back for an even longer visit a week after I returned home.

    D. Adam I was there once for an extended stay and loved it as well. The people were very nice although I had a little difficulty with the thick Scottish accent/slang at the Barras Market in Glasgow. Lovely place though and loads of fun.

Ancestors on my grand-fathers side lived in the town of Ayr before coming to America. Talking about in the 1600's. Would love to go there. Their name was Ramsey.....

This is where my Mum grew up before immigrating to the US-have visited several times, the last time in 2014 to inter my Mums' ashes in the Kerr/Young plot. There is no other country that is as beautiful as Scotland! Stunning in every way. Well,I take that back, the US is first in the variety of beautiful places, then Scotland.

Oh all the guys remember her 😂 and I’m not lying I’m in my 70’s and had a romantic experience with your mum. I was the singer/entertainer. That was before the Masonic lodge took over ayr and all the creepy stuff started going on. If you want to scratch the surface of what I’m talking about google “Ayr ramamda laptop sucicide”

Thanks for that. Have just bought a caravan in Prestwick so I plan to spend lots of time in Ayr over the summer. Many happy memories of holidays there more that 50 years ago.

This place will always mean something to me. I stopped over here in 2005 on my way to Kuwait with the US Air Force, my first time in the UK. Stopped over again on my way back. It is a wonderful place.

HAZMAT FireGuy I hope I get to go to a university abroad and get to experience traveling like you did, it must feel nice to encounter a place that just impacts you in that way I'm so amazed

Yes, it certainly does feel nice. Its a wonderful experience to see other parts of the world. Just about every place I've been to has had some kind of profound impact on my life despite only being there for a short time. If you do get the chance to live abroad while studying then I think you'll have a quite different experience because you'll be living there and become intertwined with the local community. I hope you get the chance because it would be a great experience. Best of luck to you.

Scottish Gold I'm sorry. I'm American but loved it in Scotland. I considered moving to Ayr once but it just couldn't work out for me to split my time between the US & Scotland. I wanted to travel all the way North of Scotland to The Orkneys but never went back once I finally came home I did make it to Ft William/Ben Nevis while snow was on the ground. The Highlands are absolutely breath taking! I'd never seen anything like it.
