Of course it's funny, but if, after hearing this, you still didn't vote in favour of the independence, you have to consider what's most important to you. After all, Bishops remark that divorce is a 2 way street, in practice outside comedy, should be complete bs.

Give it a few years mick and it will be, we are only at the beginning of our adventure of flushing the country down the shitter. It won't be until around 2020 that we can count how much of our banking sector moved abroad or whether we can afford to even keep the 2nd carrier in dock or should just mothball it completely.

For those having a dig at John Bishop, it was just a joke FFS but he does have a point, in ANY relationship if one party keeps saying "I'll go, I'll stay, I'll go I'll stay." The other party is going to eventually get fed up and just say, "You know what, just go, leave."

Elaine, I think he meant the fact of having our veto on UK-wide subjects, like the tory plan to build more academies left, right and centre which was only blocked because any change to the English education budget has a direct impact on what we get allocated so SNP opposed it and the complete privatization of the UK education system has been staved off for a wee bit longer. You could tell it must have been a good thing because it had the mouthbreathing Daily Mail readers calling us Scots all sorts of interfering bastards despite being too thick to understand that more academies means their tyrant kids would never be accepted in one.

Please cut me some slack here - I'm American. :) I never heard of John Bishop until I saw him on the Graham Norton show on KZread, he sounded Scottish to me. I looked it up, he's from Liverpool. There's quite a lot of space between Liverpool & Scotland so the question is.... does the Liverpool accent extend northward towards Scotland (even if it becomes more distinctively Scottish)? Again, I know all areas of the UK have different accents just like America has but I was just curious if there is a similarity between Liverpool area & Scotland...or if I just don't hear it because it's foreign to me.

  • @Inurendo88

+tkmaz Nah, you'd be surprised how regional UK accents are. Head out 30 minutes to the next city and you'll hear a different accent. The Liverpool accent is pretty much quarantined to that area.. Thank fuck.

  • @tkmaz

Chris Wallace Thanks for the reply. I suppose I can kind of liken that to here...I'm in Arizona & we have fairy bland western accents, "generic" if you will. But if you go up north to the hicks, small towns & "country"...you can get a twang that doesn't exist in the city.

The Liverpool or 'scouse' accent is from Ireland as at one point in history at least a third of the population was Irish, Manchester a neighbouring city had a similar ethnic makeup and so the Manc accent also shares more very diluted similarities to the Scouse too. However important to be noted is that while some examples of the Scouse dialect can be off putting it can also be a thing of beauty, in my opinion one of the most attractive accents in Britain, especially when it's up against shite such as a Brummie accent. Geordie is stomachable however.

As an American it's none of my business but I am glad that Scotland stayed united with England and Wales. The United Kingdom has an incredible legacy of accomplishments. Certainly there are issues that divide them, but I can't imagine one of our American states doing this, even assuming there was any constitutional basis for it. Scottish Independence would have been a great tragedy.

Scotland being independent from a larger state would give it control over what kind of country it wants to be. The way things stand the parliament in Westminster gets to make the big decisions and no matter if the people of Scotland want something different we do not have enough representation and our. 59 MPs votes against 600 can never win a vote. The union is in no way equal. The fact that Scotland is a country and not a region of England makes your comparison to an American state wanting independence is ridiculous. Up until 300 odd years ago, Scotland was an independent country. A closer comparison would if the USA would like to give up its independence and pay all taxes to the Westminster government and let it dictate how much you can have back and how much it will keep for defence, benefits and for the infrastructure in England (mostly vanity projects in London and the south east) but certainly not for any in the USA (that will have to come from your pocket money). Get it now?

I was really interested in the Scottish Referendum because I live in Canada and we have dealt with Quebec independence for a very long time. I was glad when Scotland voted to stay. Whenever Quebec separatism rears its head, investment in our country drops, our currency loses its value in international markets, ethnic tension increases, and the every day business of the country is held hostage. But I think Prime Minister Trudeau's multicultural plan of the early 1970s has finally come to its fruition. There are so many ethnicities in Quebec today that the vision of an independent White, French-speaking state in North America can no longer be realized. Parizeau himself said the separatists lost the referendum because of the rich and the ethnic vote. Non-white Quebeckers quickly realized what the Parti Quebecois was really about. Cheers!

This is the only time I've seen anyone on this show being somewhat rational. With most issues they take a sharp turn to the left, no matter what the facts are.

I like the scots especially in the union but the followers and the snp are stupid in actually thinking will gain something which they won't. Better together to work together in the fastest growing economy and make it work and fix problems together...

What like when we voted to stay to protect our place in the EU and then vote to stay in the EU and get dragged out based on England's decision? Aye, that's really fucking paying off for us and everything's going fucking swimmingly. Twat.

ladyguru00 Come on ladyguru, he`s as quick and witty as they get. You need a sense of humour perhaps. Just wondering where you got your moniker from though. No ego involved there eh? Correct me if I`m wrong.

Comedian makes a joke, you disagree with the joke. "Omg he's so stupid!". Tell me any point where he's factually wrong, then you can call him thick, moron.

I won't be crying as much as you when you're trying to figure out how many groats and scabby donkeys there are to the pound as you join the rest of your proud countrymen in England...since that's where they all end up anyway.

hahaha, funny because you English seem to like Scotland too, can't move in Edinburgh or the Highlands without bumping into one. And actually, I still live in Scotland, just for the record and have absolutely no plans to move to a country so overcrowded that it's virtually bursting at the seams.

Enough abuse. It's not funny. What it is, is cheap 'kicks' from an ex-scouser (I've known far better natured, and funnier people living in Liverpool, from when I lived there) aimed to pleasure an abusive ex-partner of Scotland. Just playing off the Grate Brutish mass's. Sycophants without options, but to suck up to a serial abuser, even their own, in history. Amazing themselves, and tribal clones, in an emptying school playground of conforming mediacracy. And so, with a gathering chorus of whining, I bid the Sassenachs farewell. Goodbye. I'd never want to be you. Adio, and ciao, until I avoid you again ;0]
