May God bless him and continue to watch over him as the horror of that day is still effecting him. Not just mentally, which is a nightmare all on it’s own, but his health. I’ve seen a few of your brother’s interviews, as well as the movie, and he is an absolute hero. I can’t even imagine how scared he must have been and he didn’t give up on these men. When he talks about his kids and just wanting to go home and hug them and tell his wife that he loves her, it breaks my heart. The world needs more people in it who are like your amazing brother. Sending love and prayers ❤️🤍💙

He absolutely is. People throw around the term 'hero' when someone does what their job requires. Scott went above and beyond, at imminent threat to himself, so the word hero absolutely applies. God bless him and all who sacrificed themselves on that day.

This "Will" guy....the fact that he kept being selfless even as he is buried in all that rubble and thinks he's probably going to die, it just leaves me speechless. That level of honor and selflessness is so rare and admirable

I’ve watched a lot of these stories and the absolute bravery of the firemen and police is amazing. This man is a hero.

Why does the interviewer sound like he’s talking into a fan lol 😅

You can tell by Scott's cough that he suffered some serious lung damage. I hope he's getting treatment. Scott's a hero who gave his all and shouldn't have to suffer.

It doesn't take a doctor to know that Scott inhaled some nasty shit at ground zero that has caused respiratory problems for him and his fellow first responders that were at the site. We can argue semantics for days, but the bottom line is that he's clearly not physically well, and he should get treatment ASAFP. His cough is noticeably unusual and concerning.

Officer Strauss, thank you for your enduring courage and fortitude, along with the compassion you brought to your job, the rescue efforts! It is apparent the work you have done over the years has made a lasting impact on you! May you be blessed with many years ahead surrounded by loved ones! All honor and respect to the First Responders who gave their lives on 9-11 with the determination to save lives!

I live in Melbourne Australia, I watched so may episodes of and about 9-11, How beautiful knowing there are people out there who give all for the community, and the people it makes the world feel a little softer. Thankyou x

It's called the World Trade Center Cough. Virtually anyone who spent any amount of time down there, especially the first week, has it. Ground Zero was the worst toxic waste site in the history of New York. More rescue and recovery workers have now died of 9/11 related illnesses than the number of of people murdered outright on 9/11. @@jennconducts They created a new special section at the Southwest corner of of the 9/11 Memorial called the Glade. It is dedicated to all those who have died and were sickened by the toxins down there. 9/11 continues on.

Incredible story

This is amazing I saw this particular story it was on the movie WTC with Nicholas cage. It's amazing this the guy who helped to free them😳❤️ The bravery and selflessness even of Dominique who was free and could have left his team and died trying breaks my heart sooooo badly. I was so sad like I had been there. But nothing but love and respect for the bravery of those who didn't survive and those who did.

Incredible people the best of humanity

All of these Officers are so humble and downplay their heroics. At the end, Officer Strauss says the movie WTC isn't about the rescue; it was about the 2 injured PAPD Officers keeping each other alive. I beg to disagree: it was about both. I arrived two days later from out of state and was with some construction workers helping the ESUs. The way I heard it, they tied a rope around Scott's waist in case of a collapse: not to pull him out, but to lead them to his body. I have no doubt that he meant it when he said he thought he would die down there. Just being around those guys, I learned something about Real Heroes. Death isn't the worst thing. Bailing out and letting a fellow Officer die: just not in his genes. Everyday these Officers put themselves in harm's way. He made me laugh when he said he heard all the cheering and thought he must be riding in a fire truck. Thank you for creating this video. After 21 years I just found this channel. SeaMac Team1 to other members of Teams 1,2 &3.

This man is a hero. Hope he has had that cough checked out.

Thanks for posting this. It is insightful what he tells. It helps some of us who were teenagers in Brooklyn at the time better understand that day.

Nothing but respect for the police, firemen and medical professions including emts.

All that time around ground zero must have damaged his lungs it was hard to watch with all that coughing

God love your soul. One day people may realize that THEY CAN be the kind of person you are. If not ever before, today they have a fine example to follow sir. It lives in you.

What this man did moving into that nightmare to save others takes more than courage. Humanity at its finest.

Thank goodness for people like this man. The 'helpers' are certainly the finest of us all.

I’ve heard this story a hundred times and I still can’t believe they got those officers out with their bare hands. I also can’t believe the rescuers didn’t get killed either. Amazing story.

At that time I had already studied construction and building structures and seeing the images of the tremendous fire I realised the situation. I said to my brother, who was with me watching the TV: "That building is going to break". I did not think of a total collapse, but rather a tilting of the part above the fire and the falling of that part to one side. But in the end things went in the worst possible way...

It wasn’t the structure that was compromised…

*Scott is still suffering to this day physically with that "Groundzero Cough" I'm sure he's had it checked,but definitely needs to stay on top of it,but with American Healthcare being so siht, I won't hold my breath. Scott would have ingested so much of that toxic smoke and dust, that it's not a matter of if, its when.😥😥*

Correction: Their "faith" didn't do a damned thing for them anymore than it did for the 1000s who died horrible deaths that day begging their nonexistent deity to save them. *Humans created the gods, not the other way around.* NEVER forget that.

Geez.... Did ya not learn from this video. It's not about this little thing or that... It's that we all helped etc. One can't choose the voice they get - some are born w a deep voice...geez. If you're smart, and have compassion, you can tune out irritants IF... if you listen only to WHAT the interview was saying, the words. After that, go get a life. ((Okay... this makes more sense... I just noticed your 'handle' -- that explains a ton.))
