Scott Galloway: I Hate Millennials

Loser: TV news. With Facebook Live and other streaming services providing immediate coverage of ongoing events, broadcasters no longer have a point of differentiation.
Winner: Paris, which has the most Airbnb listings of any city - benefiting travelers who would otherwise pay exorbitant amounts for hotel rooms.
Winner: Coupons. Nine out of 10 millennials use coupons, and coupon apps dominate branded apps in ratings.
Winner: Qzone. Favored by Chinese millennials, Tencent-owned Qzone is the fifth-most popular social app in the world, with twice the user base of Twitter and Snapchat.

    Yeah it's just more of the same from people who have empathy and imagination problems who can't possibly see "oh, shit, that could easily have been me!" I mean wtf, were we building the economy and the world the past 15-20 years or were we just trying to grow up and learn to navigate this mess?

    Millennials love this show!! XD the problem is a lot of us don't have the money to invest.... ARGHHHH! I hope entrepreneurship becomes more mainstream and schools teach better skills that enable our future generations to be cashflow independent. Kids should know how to set up many streams of income for themselves. If that happens youth and college students might finally have a democratic voice of power in government as well!

    Coupons are an amazing scam. Mark prices up, and distribute a bunch of coupons so that consumers have to work to get a fair deal or pay the higher price. All, while giving them that happy feeling that serial consumers get when they feel they are somehow getting a great deal which encourages further consumption. Brilliant scam.

  • @fastcornbread

    100% agree. The news is being taken by apps that have 24/7 free coverage, and social media as a whole. Like I've said for a while, Twitter taking on Live sports streaming is the final frontier for streaming. Once TV loses sports it's over. There will be ZERO reason to buy these cable deals that are way over priced and flooded with commercials. Cable, Dish, etc. Is going to always be the 'go to' for most of the older generation who is used to that kind of stuff and isn't comfortable with getting rid of it. However, it is the beginning of the end due to younger folks seeing through the bullshit. It's just way too expensive compared to what's out there via streaming.

    Born 1986 Here. Thank you for all the compliments and recognition of my generation but...... We are still entitled, lack work ethic, soft skills, overly sensitive, lack basic understanding of economics, make poor choices of our degrees, need to be inspired at work to feel happy, need to feel important at work to feel happy, complain too much, and closed minded as a whole with few exceptions in the mix. I would hire a baby boomer or gen x before I would hire one of my own generation given the choice for these reasons. But sadly baby boomers are retiring and the pickings are starting to get thin!

    Millenials might have this digital shit down, but a lot of them lack the basic functional skills it takes to make it in business. Simple soft skills and common courtesy are often lacking in the apprentices I interview. They might be able to write code that would make The Zuck scratch his head, but that doesn't mean shit if they can't work in a team or accept constructive criticism

  • @Lone_Rocket

    @Lone_Rocket

    8 жыл бұрын

    I tend to ramble after staying up all night (currently 5:50am) I can work in a team. It's just that, life experience has taught me that relying to heavily on other humans can lead to un satisfactory work. Sometimes someone isnt pullying their weight or I am relying to much on someone else. My social skills are not exactly immaculate (by that I mean im an introvert), but I can make it work and get the job done without complaint. I just prefer working by myself because I cant stand the idea of dragging someone down because of something I did. Comprimising on ideas are somewhat difficult but I have no problem letting go, if the project needs to get done. I revel in actual constructive criticism. Yes, sometimes its hard to swallow my pride (especially when its somthing important to me) but, its probably for the best and they're trying to make my work better, so why fight them. I think I take criticism well, I try to. I do not expect anyone to read this fully. I just wanted to write my thoughts down and didnt view this as a waste of time. I find it, relaxing.

    I think both you all have solid points, No +TheGadgetAddicts it seems that a good amount of millennials don't have common courtesy, but that's also a parenting issue too. To +T_alsomeGames that's a good sum up of my life as of now too. I don't like relying on another human to do something I should/could do. I want to do it, and do it well. I also enjoy the criticism and seeing my work get better little by little. It's a huge reason why I think of myself as a progressive person.

    I am a millennial, and it is not schools that "create" or "brainwash" my generation. Just as Bliffity said, "they're content to sit around with their thumb up their asses". You are completely correct, and I will tell all of my peers about how terrible they are. Here's the catch: quit complaining about them, and find a way to make it to your benefit. I can say that, since I am currently doing this. Hell, I made my first international sale when I was 17.

    Joe Adams Sorry for the late reply, I'd have to say I don't want those benefits. I don't want to profit off of our children's stupidity. I want to teach the right way, which I do by volunteering at my 5 year olds school or by being involved on the PTA. I am attempting to change the system. It's just easier when more people help. Congrats on the international sale, and I wish you continued success bud!

Aside from Hotel San Jose, Austin's hotels are garbage
