I have many wonderful things to say about this. I will probably do another comment. Anyway, I was thinking about how clever your use of tools is (some stop motion, some live action (the cars parking and the team coming in from the sides, right?), the facial overlay, the comment box layer) and then it got to about 3:20 and I love your use of blur to direct the eye. And this is my first time watching and it's just so very engaging, and not because of the youtuber telling the story, because of the way your displaying it. More positive words because you deserve them.

@@MikeCrocker I've been trying to get some creative things going myself and the first real lesson I've learned is recognizing what I have at hand that will work. You could stop-mo a thought bubble dropping on screen, but it's just as effective to green screen it and composite and I gotta assume a lot more time smart. I'm trying to utilize that mindset when I think of stuff so I don't constantly get stuck attempting to pare down or underachieve. I also watch a lot of KZread and a surprising number of creators drop production process gold almost every video, even if they don't outright say words about it. All a person has to do is pay attention. It's really neat seeing a new-to-me creator that exemplifies that first lesson so well--fully speaking from my external perspective. You make really good content. The attention to detail has proven worth it.

@@CollinGerberding You've definitely got a great start going, man. It's good to make with what you have - constraints breed creativity after all. Keep studying and experimenting! Also, the speech bubble bit was a win win, because yes it was more efficient time-wise, as are all the live action clips I slip in these videos, but they also add a little character and mix up the visuals a little. I equate it to how in a lot of Spongebob episodes, sometimes they'll cut to a really detailed still image to drive a point home, like the nasty patty, for instance. Also, thank you man. I'm at a nice middle ground of having everything I need to make a solid animation, but still plenty of things on the equipment wish list. I don't think it'll ever go away lol

We've been in contact over Instagram for a good two years or so!

Only 9.3k views on this high effort video with a significant youtuber in it makes me realize that sometimes good stuff really isn't picked up by the algorithm. It was good content too. Maybe advertise that animation style in the thumbnail and give it a name like "Lego Animated." The video exceeded my expectations. This may mean that you have higher view potential with a better thumbnail or title. Maybe play around with that. I think you could be getting like 50x views on this with a lot of satisfied viewers.

Thank you for the kind words, first and foremost! I'll say this: I love making videos, I hate making packaging. I made this one during a little era when I was getting really serious about thumbnails and titles, but it just led me to overthinking things. This one was especially challenging as I wanted to communicate: 1. This is a Lego animation 2. Scott Cramer is here 3. The ridiculousness/intrigue of the story he tells That's quite a bit with a title and thumbnail so I struggled with it. BUT, all that being said, I actually plan this week to sit down and redesign a lot of my old thumbnails and this one is at the top of the list! Hoping the A/B testing that KZread just rolled out to most people will change the game.
