Scott Adams on Huge Dilbert Success, Shows How Dilbert is Drawn
Ойын-сауық
In this exclusive interview with legendary Dilbert creator sat down with DJ Vlad to discuss the in and outs of his career. He discusses his first check only being $378 and working hard in order to breakthrough. Many have misconceptions about success coming overnight but Adams completely defies the notion. He talks about utilizing the internet and putting the comic online for free in order to build an audience and how that started to build momentum. Adams was still working his day job while doing the comics, eventually quitting his day job later on.
Dilbert is active in 65 countries and translated into as many languages. Adams discusses the inspiration behind Dilbert, which was Adams himself besides being "smarter" according to the man himself. Scott Adams has won the Reuben award the top cartoonist award, has written a book which was the New York Times best seller. Check out this exclusive interview!

He literally said in another interview that he was passionate about things that worked; and if something didn't work, he wouldn't keep doing it. However, even while the comic was failing, he kept doing it. It seems as though there is a difference between being passionate and excited about something. Passion keeps you going, excitement gets you started. But at every point it seems as if the Universe kept pushing this guy in the direction of his passion, even when he was failing or giving up.
I have my own comic strip called "Coffee Monster". It's about a sasquatch called "Coffee Monster" and his other friends and rivals that work in a retail store that specializes in everything from musical instruments to home electronics. I hope to get my comic published one of these days.

I graduated with an engineering degree. I had a summer internship in which I asked the question, "Do I want to be doing this for the next 35-40 years?" It was a productive summer, but Dilbert comic strips overwhelmingly convinced me that the answer was no. If I had a $100 bill for every instance that I saw at the internship, I could retire. His comics are that funny, because they are THAT true.
This is great. Keep the diversity of interviews coming Vlad!
Scott is as smart as people get being down to earth and real
Miss the show so much. Dilbert’s show is needed now more than ever .

Nice
it's always hilarious trying to explain your design/illustration after you've already done it and try and show it step by step. There's always this kinda nervous like "do they know what im doing?" feeling going on in your head even if you're an expert for over 5+ years.

There's very decent alternatives, similar size starting at $700. That price difference is especially worth it for hard-inked cartoons that don't rely on pen sensitivity as much. Then there's Tycho from Penny Arcade who uses a SurfacePro for drawing his comics live on stage. Being able to draw wherever you go is pretty sweet.
@Noldy__
7 жыл бұрын
They ain't the same size. I own the $700 one. It's 13 inches. This one seems to be the 27 Inch. They also have a 22 inch. And advice, if you can afford the Wacom just get it. All the other products always seem to have issues, even the surface pro has its problems. If you draw a lot just invest in a Wacom. Worth every penny. And Wacom seems to have released new models. A portable one that you can take on the road wit you.
