Scotland flooding: Car swept away in Dumfries flooding and River Tweed bursts banks in Peebles

Heavy downpours across Dumfries & Galloway and the Borders wreaked havoc in towns and villages yesterday.
In Annan, two BRIDGES were swept away as the river surged following torrential rain.
The Cuthbertson Bridge and Diamond Jubilee Bridge both fell victim to the rising water of the River Annan.
A river also burst its banks in Biggar, South Lanarkshire, flooding a local playpark and submerging benches on a verge nearby.
And in flood-hit Hawick, Borders, a major incident was declared and 500 people were evacuated from their homes.
