Met Mikkey Dee after he played a King Diamond show in Georgetown, D.C. and met Matthias Jabs (along with Klaus Meine) at an album release party on the 20th floor of the Trade Center in Boston, MA. Both of these happened in the same year of 1988. I miss those days!

All Americans talk about "grunge" in the 90s, but really the bigger thing the Scorps survived was punk in the 70s. Americans had never heard of Scorps back then, but look at how different that Roth-era music was from the likes of the Damned and the Pistols... Oh wait - you never heard of them either...

Yes, I agree it was awful, but you must admit it was a reaction to the over-bloated self-indulgent way rock had gone in the mid to late 70s. It gave rock the kick up the arse it needed and forced an injection of new life into it.

What an interesting view of how Grunge music intersected with mainstream heavy rock in the early 90s. Suddenly from guitar heroes there was a transition to "guitar anti heroes", such as Cobain and others. I think Mattias is right in that at its height in the late 80s hevay metal was overly produced, which probably led to a "back to basics" , raw and simple attitude which Grunge bands provided. Scorpions were so lucky that "Crazy world" at the very last minute (1990), before the loat decade of the 90s for Heavy metal bands. Had this album been released 2-3 years after i dought it qould have been that successful with the Seattle wave sweeping the rock industry. By itself, "Crazy world", apart of the ballads, is a very raw, basic and straight forward rock album.

I'd actually prefer to see them stand their ground and stop mocking E2E

You are so wrong Mickey. According to Uli Roth the audience on Tokyo Tapes are not even from same concert. This is his words. “I did the playing on the album and there were no overdubs afterwords. We just left everything as it was, except for the audience clapping because we forgot to record the audience so we had no audience sound. I don’t know who’s idea it was in the studio. It wasn’t mine. There was this massive album Frampton Comes Alive album at the time, so somebody took the clapping from that recording and they put it on a loop. So suddenly, Sun Plaza hall becomes Stadium Rock. There is your dirty little insight and it’s a true story nobody will deny it. So the audience of Frampton Comes Alive is on Scorpions‘ Tokyo Tapes. We had a great audience but they weren’t recorded.”

I can't say I know this for a fact, but if that guy ain't sporting a wig, then TROLLS come forth and serve me a social media beat down! But guy's in their 50's and up, don't have hair that thick and full, naturally. But hey, I'm not dissing on the guy. The hair looks fantastic. Just doesn't match the face. But so what!
