@@joshclemens8251 thanks I didn’t think the obvious ahah! As I I thought the BS represented back screen but they were down screens hence the confusion

Are pistol "chase" and a "get" action the same thing?

Chase uses get action as the main action. However, if the guard receiving the handoff can't get downhill, he can look to hit the player who handed the ball off coming off the flare from 5. If the flare isn't open, 5 can set an empty ball screen for the ball handler. Chase = get + flare + empty ball screen.

was the offense set up as an 5 out ?

Yep, pistols is traditionally run with 5-out spacing to start.
