If you are playing tests, scoop bats are better for singles and doubles. But if you want to strike big, you need heavier bats.

Scoops requires more power than that of the spine( due to its more mass distribution, transfer of change in momentum is less )

As mass is concentrated out of axis of bat the moment of inertia is more so that bat takes up more energy while rotating. So when batsman doesn't middle the ball the amount of energy transferred from ball to bat is more and you will lose in power transfer. Lofting and clearing boundaries will not be easy. But it provides better control to guide the ball as face doesn't rotate much. If batsman if keep on practicing with scoop bat their muscle memory will adapt it and middling will go away. They will be inclined towards ground shots. Now because of Shorter formats hitting sixes is a required skill. But with former bat If you miss-hit you will lose control but power transfer will dependent on cosine component of impulse of bat to the direction of incoming ball. Shot might doesn't go in intended direction but it will go out of park if even ball hits close to axis of bat. And middling will be improved in practice. Only shots hitted from far away from axis will be problematic.

Cause in the modern era of cricket the attacking strokemaking kind of play is in fashion and players wants to play big shots and score faster rather than getting singles or doubles by pushing and nudging the ball

Perhaps alongside mass distribution and lesser overall power when hit on sweet spots, perhaps the the shape maybe more or less aerodynamic and vulnerable to wind resistance, thus causing a uneasiness amongst bats such as these???

Players stopped using scooped bats because in modern bat making you can achieve both the big edges and a big spine. Bat manufacturers dry the clefts to make big but light bats.

Forcing to goto centre of mass on edges, you took it out of the center. Batsmen mostly are used to play straight and practice to meet the ball out of the center of the bat.

Scoop bat better for single and double but not for hit big shot because you generate lots of power by scoop bat to hit big shot .

Obviously scooped bats are generats less power against the regular bats... It's true that odds of miss hits getting lawer, but at the same time it reduce the power that bat can put on the ball, which is not recommended for the modern Cricket. I think that's the most concerned part of batters on give up to use scooped bats... 🤔😌

its SIMPLE....To make a bat 2 pound 9 ounces back then with thick edges ( therefore more sweet spot) they had to reduce weight by scoop. Today drying techniques have improved and no scoop required and so thicker edges and deep spines do the same job and less time and money spent scooping out the millions of bats produced every year.
