Sudeikis not only catching the Lonnie/Lonie bit and turning it into comedy gold but then ALSO mispronouncing Lisa's name as Liza was such quick thinking and improv genius.

They just break because he's so committed to the character, I don't think he does it to get them to break because I think he's a good improv artist that really doesn't want to break the actors although it's fun to see that when it happens organically but I don't think he's trying for that What's my luck in an interview when he's 80 years old he's going to come out inside I was always trying to get him to crack them up you know I was playing the character Angle now I knew that would get him.

Cecily Strong is such a good actor. her eye movements and constant head movements.

He is so committed to the character he's not reacting to the live audience when they laugh at the joke, he's laughing at himself or coming up with a joke he waits till the last dies live, because his character believes he's on television. That's the genius of sudeikis

Well he says Liza because that's the mom's name, so I guess Melissa pronounced it wrong on the card was that the problem? Probably spelled l o n i so even the card guy got it wrong? And I call that an ambiguous comedy trigger

If you watch with the captions that whole exchange isn't even included in the scripting - he just owns this entire skit

"Sorry- sorry-" "You don't have to apologize. Just don't do it anymore. You don't have to apologize if you don't do it." I love this version of the sketch because Sudeikis really captures the essence of a teacher who enjoys their work but is also just barely hanging on by a thread.

@@davidalden909, I did the same with a history teacher about Paul Revere, pointing out he was captured by the British at one point and asking why he didn’t talk about William Dawes and Dr Samuel Prescott? I was sent to the Vice Principal’s office. Fortunately he was also a history teacher and told my teacher that it was sad when a student knows more than the teacher.

@@carolynfinch9903 if you pay attention he was actually still in his dark place. Once he began to brake he suddenly brought himself back to his “dark place” - no smiles, no laughs… just darkness…… It’s hard to come out of that state.

As an American teacher, I can honestly say this more a documentary than a comedy bit.

I'm talking about lazy kids with lazy parents who won't even bother making their kids read or do anything learning related. They go to school for babysitting not to learn.

This is how teachers really feel inside. They deserve a raise.

This was pure comedy at its finest. I haven't laughed this hard in a while. They definitely need to make this a continuous bit. It's almost a model off of Celebrity Jeopardy, the teacher being annoyed by the students and Alex being annoyed by the contestant with their responses. i volunteer tutoring little kids and i don't think id last a day teaching. i love them but the few kids that i tutor are a handful

The close ups of their hands grabbing the "Earth" did me in early.

I will always love Jason Sudeikis. Seeing him just get more and more annoyed and finally going into full pissed off was brilliant. Plus I didn't even know the "Loni" part was a flub until I read the comments. He took that and ran with it so well I just thought it was more of the kids and parents being incompetent.

holy shit my sides. This has to be one of the funniest skit series that snl has. Every host who does it just kills it, and Cecilia is always adorable with her innocent anecdotes from her trashy sister.

I feel like Sam Rockwell nailed the science teacher vibe the best, Adam Driver had the most dramatic descent into madness, and Jason had the best comedic twist. Each host brought something different and special.

I almost didn't recognize Cicely. She and the cast just keep getting better and better as well as the writing. Jason's frustration is so good my blood pressure went up watching him.

Rockwell, Driver, and now Sudekis. All great Science Room instructors. Love how Cecily broke character near the end there.

I love how Melissa is on the verge of laughing as she walks by the camera.

Honestly haven’t laughed this hard at a sketch, even though it’s a repeat the personal attack at the parents not only is hilarious but Jason makes everyone break. Hilarious!

It doesn't happen very often, though. It's amazing how well she can play both serious, straight-faced characters and wild, psychotic characters.

the way Jason improvised when Melissa messed up the name of Cecily's character gave everyone a simultaneous crack

i watched this episode as a ted lasso fan who's never been that into snl. jason making everyone almost lose it at 4:47 was worth it (well, that and the parent-teacher conference lol).

OMG, Cecily Strong’s facial expressions throughout the sketch were too much. 😂

I totally agree, Christine! I had to keep rewinding it because I was laughing so much, I kept missing some of the dialogue. Mr. Teacher brought to mind Mr. Lewis, my ever-exasperated Monroe Jr. High science teacher (San Jose, circa. 1976 🤦‍♀️) whose hair style, glasses, and wardrobe consisting of short-sleeve shirt & polyester trousers, could have been the inspiration for SNL’s costume department! (BTW, Mr. Lewis was one of my favorite teachers of all time👍)

What she does with her mouth is so spot on. The kind of thing you've never thought about or noticed, but an excellent mimic suddenly makes you aware of.

Josh nodding through the "balls" convo and his face when Sudeikis makes his dad apologize is HILARIOUS!!!😆

I just keep going back to watch this. Has me howling with laughter. The 'kids' and Jason are absolutely brilliant !

I'm so touched by how Jason asks if the kids are ok, you know, emotionally and everything 😂 Update: I had a student tell me I've been mispronouncing her name the whole first half of the year and I quoted this sketch. "I've been calling you ____ this whole damn time, you never spoke up for yourself???"

Cecily is brilliant. She completely transforms into an insecure teenager. Kept having to do double takes to know it's her. They're all great.

Thats the beauty of having a past long running cast member on the show, hes comfortable enough to be able to improv and improv well when the circumstance comes up for it

Why do l love Mikey Day? Well, this sketch, for one.

Watching it again. 03:35 "my sister says you should never ignore the balls...That is so damn funny."

Cecily & Mikey are so damn good at kid faces Both are hilarious every appearance

Oh my goodness. Cecily's acting is so spot on.

Mikey aggressively nodding through the balls comment made the joke much better hahaha

I couldn't take my eyes off Mikey Day and those eyes and the way he goofily moves around 😆 And Sudekuis was perfection!

Jason full adlib on Lisa and Loni..Dude is brilliant.

Cecily is the most versatile actor on SNL. Let's applaud her for it!

I think he ad libbed the Low-nee and Lie-sa parts because the whole cast started to break.

I believe Melissa made a mistake when saying Cecily's character name. It should be Layne but Jason caught the mistake and built off of it.

When Mikey Day said, "That Subscribe button," and Jason just chucked the ball at the wall I lost it. Brilliant sketch!

Jason Sudeikis owned this skit! 😂 Tears were streaming down my eyes by the time they reached “LONI?!” So great!

I love Jason Sudeikis. I specifically recorded this episode just to watch him and between this and Mellen, I was in tears at "My sister said to never ignore the balls" LOL

This was one of Jason's greatest hits ever and he's done a lot of them it really sealed the bill for me when he called the parents in and just said they were the worst ever.
