Science Fiction Picks for Week 2 - the 1940s!

"Rocket Summer" is a month long reading event in July where the aim is to read classic science fiction.
There are four weekly themes:

2 SF from 1940 - 1949
3 SF from 1950 - 1959

    1:10 ‘wave it about like an idiot’ 😅 made me laugh out loud, Gavin. It’s cool you have physical copies of those magazines. By the way, in your search of finding more magazines- you might find success browsing Etsy, if you haven’t already. Anyway, I like how you’re breaking down your videos for this. Orphans of the Sky looks pretty interesting.

    All these old art covers. That orphans of the Sky I first saw in an awesome collection called Flights of Icarus.

    Yep. The cover is never a dealbreaker, but modern covers seem pallid and uninspired by comparison. I don’t think the AI that gets used now is going to make that any better…

    Thanks Debs. I think the colors are so vibrant (garish) because only the boldest colors would work on the cheap paper - everything else just soaks in and fades. Still, if I can look that good at 79 years old, I’ll be happy.
