Interesting review. I think some of your niggles could be personal preference and, possibly, head shape as I find, in general, the opposite. But I think you may need the opening button looked at. I have the Schuberth C3 Pro and the Shoei Neotech II as opposed to your Neotech I. The C3 Pro is head and shoulders above the Shoei for comfort, visor (clear and sun visor) operation and noise attenuation. The opening button sounds like it is in need of attention as mine has worked flawlessly for 7 and a bit years. Both helmets started off tight and they are now, after a lot of miles, both a little loose. In my case, the secret is to wear the new helmet for about an hour at a time while it is "breaking-in". Wearing a new helmet for longer periods tends to be uncomfortable until it is broken-in. I always keep my old helmet for about 3-6 months (depending on the season) an alternate between old and new during the break-in period. The venting on the C3 Pro is fine if you open the internal flaps. I always use a cotton helmet liner (Doo-rag) in my helmets. I've ridden in a city when the temperature was 42°C (107°F) and in the countryside when the temperature was about 38°C (100°F) with no problems what-so-ever. In winter, with the internal flaps closed and chin curtain in place, I've ridden in -21°C (-6°F) without problems. Those internal flaps work very well and will have blocked the ventillation if you rode with them closed! I find the C3 pro chin strap much more comfortable than the Shoei as it isn't up against my neck. The ratchet strap is a doddle to use once you're used to it. The Shoeis have the ratchet strap system as well but it is further back and rubs on my throat. I probably won't buy another Shoei but, I'd certainly buy another Schuberth!

Arai helmets fit my head shape so I always buy them. My head size is between a Large and an Extra Large for Arai full face helmets. For my last helmet I bought a large that was pretty tight but I changed out the cheek pads to a lesser thickness and now it fits perfectly. A quiet all day helmet no problem. Thanks for sharing your comments on this Schubert modular helmet. Very thorough and informative.

Interesting assessment. I have had a C3 pro for 7 years now (50+k miles) and have just replaced it with another one (they're 1/2 of what you paid here in the UK as Schuberth have brought out the C5 version). For me personally the fit is fantastic out of the box and I prefer the ratcheting mechanism over the D-rings. I agree with the ventilation issue though (my solution is to keep the visor up a couple of millimeters).

Wow surprised at some of your criticism of the C3. Love the positive click of chin bar and ratchet strap. Love the helmet. I bought the smaller cheek pads from Schuberth. Made a big difference. Thanks for the video

I have had a Schuberth C3 Pro for 5 years now, used it during the first four years. Very quiet, the fit is good though a little loose (L) for me, and the mechanical components work reliably. The weight is ok. My only complaint, a big one, is the ventilation. Fine for spring and fall, but way too hot in summer. I bought a NEXX X.WED 2 and used it since last year. The fit is tighter (L). Also very comfortable, but lighter and WAY better ventilated than the C3 Pro, but the built quality is nowhere near Schuberth (well, price is much lower too...). The internal tinted visor mechanism broke on day one, the beak is noisy, and the pinlock insert gets foggy. I miss the modular feature. I hate taking off my helmet all the time, especially at the gas tank. If I buy another helmet in the near future, it'll be a Schuberth C5 Pro. It's an improved C3 (the C4 was bad). Ventilation is improved and reviews are good.

Great review. I recently purchased a Neotec 3....for that ridiculous price, but I like it. I don't have any experience with other brands, so this is a very informative video for me. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I purchased a C3 Pro a few months ago online. I don't need, nor was I in the market for a modular, but I wanted the quietest helmet I could find. From the research I'd done it appeared the C3 Pro was that. I've always worn earplugs but they've been hugely problematic for me as I have collapsing ear canals and no earplugs will fit in or stay in my ears except soft mold-able silicone putty. Even looked into custom moulded earplugs from an audiologist. Couldn't be made for my ears. When she pulled the moulds out it felt like she was pulling out my eardrums which then hurt for days after. She commented to a colleague she'd never seen worse collapsing ear canals. Ha ha...thanks a lot. If the moulds were that hard to get out, how would it ever be possible to get the custom earplugs in? No thanks. My helmets so far: Shoei RF-SR, Arai Concept XE, AGV K6 and the C3 Pro. I was a bit concerned when I first put the C3 Pro on. My head is 57cm so I got the medium which is 57-58cm. Tight or very snug everywhere. Worried it was too tight but there didn't appear to be hot spots. Wore it around the house an hour or 2 and kept it. It is without a doubt seriously quiet compared to my other helmets. Quieter without earplugs than my others with. They all are very noisy with the Arai being brain damaging loud and my Shoei a near contender. My ears ringing badly after short rides. Yes...with ear plugs. I've noticed noise comes from many areas including a thrumming or resonance all those other shells make from wind passing over the shell in addition to coming in underneath, vents, visor etc.... My C3 has no buffeting, lift, shell thrumming and the wind noise actually has a pleasant sound to it unlike any of my others; a mellow whooshing rather than sitting on a jet wing roar. My C3 Pro is actually too quiet with ear plugs (except highway speeds) as I feel disconnected from my bike. With earplugs I cannot hear what people say and end up shouting or I have to remove the helmet. Very different than my other helmets. My C3 Pro quickly broke in and I love the fit. My whole head everywhere engulfed in a snug protective feeling hug. Ventilation is not great (or even good) even with the little tabs folded out of the way. I have no problems with the lift lid mechanism unlatching and I always give the chin-bar a good slam to shut so mine always fully engages. My white C3 right out of the box had paint flaking off the chin-bar and Schuberth replaced the helmet no fuss. Apparently it's a known problem with the white and has been for a while. That really put me off. Expensive and supposed to be a premium helmet. Then that replacement helmet, the top vent hood started doing the same easy flaking so I had them send me a black vent hood which goes great on my white helmet. No shell or chin-bar flaking atm. Schuberth USA thus far has been great. I wish this helmet had passive exhaust vents and better overall ventilation. I like the function and fit of the ratcheting chin strap (better than my D-ring straps), the chin curtain, the overall fit, the quiet, the way the helmet moves thru the air, the field of view and the look. I could do without the internal visor. Never use tinted visors/sunglasses etc... I've heard the C3 Pro is being retired. I don't see myself ever being interested in the C5. But I'm seriously considering getting a black C3 Pro as a second before they're gone. It's mostly the quiet that has me sold. I've been considering an expensive Shoei RF-1400 but it may be loud like my other helmets. At least I know the C3 Pro is quiet.

I have the C3 helmet and it suits my head just fine. When I purchased it I also tried the Shoei GT Air and it didn´t suit the form of my head. No problem with chinstrap or open the helmet. I wouldn´t go for a review when buying a helmet. You have to try a new helmet on to find out if it suits your head.

Good review. I was considering a Schuberth before my last purchase. I am addicted to the flip down sunshade so that limits my choices. I decided to stay with Nexx helmets and went with X Wed 2 to replace my old Nexx. I do find these helmets tight in the cheeks so I have to purchase the thinner cheek pads. It’s fairly light at 1,755 grams . Keep the content coming

Great stuff!! I bought same..size and all in Hi Vis color. Experience the same issues except for the chin strap lock which I like in lieu of D-ring. I wear earing aids and from your experience (ear buds), I will remove them to see if fit/comfort is better. I subsequently bought a Schubert E1...what a difference in comfort. You may want to check that one...a Winner for me in size Large. Happy and safe trails to Alaska!!

I've gone through many helmets in the last half century, including a couple of flip-up types that were too heavy. My current helmet is an old, low-end Shoei that works pretty well. It's due for replacement, but I'm dreading the process of picking a new one. Your video does a great job of pointing out the difficulty in finding a workable helmet.

I wonder why you reviewed a helmet that has been out of production for years. I own a C3 pro and agree with you about the ventilation. My head size is right between the medium and large sizes. I was able to get a good fit by switching pads which added to the overall cost of purchase. I like hearing the click when closing the modular lid. It tells me that the it is securely closed and won’t pop open should I fall.

I am currently shoping for a new modular helmet. thank you for this review because this is one of the ones I was considering.

Please be sure to read the other comments before taking this review as the last word on this helmet. Everyone's head is different and this review is not supported by most commenters. Also I believe you can find this model at a lower price than mentioned as its been superseded by two generations of Schuberth concept helmets.

Good summary of the pros and cons; aligns with my experience as well. As a glasses wearer I’ve always wanted to try a modular and considered a Schubert based on a friends recommendation. But after checking several sizes at a shop during a trip to Europe last summer I pretty much had to concede that I am stuck with a Shoei shaped head. I bought Neotec 2 a week ago since they’re on closeout and there doesn’t seem to be significant changes with the 3 to justify the huge price difference. So far like you, I’m not a fan of D-Ring replacement and also I found that the Neotec was riding on the top of my glasses so I’ve carved out a bit of the foam along the eyebrow.

I have owned a Schuberth C5 since 2022. It's been great for me. I used it in March for a trip to utah from ny and May for a Florida trip. About 12k miles total. It's handled the cold (30's) and heat (90's) well, with liners at times. It was snug at first, and i did the same comparison between large and xl. The xl was a larger shell, so i opted for the large. It's broken in great. This helmet is also designed for the sena system. I mounted a Cardo Edge without too much effort. The only issue is the microphone. I have to position it before lowering the front of the helmet. I removed the microphone for my long trips as i was alone, and i don't answer calls or use voice commands. Fwiw, i rode my triumph 1200 gt pro with Puig windshield and winglets. I also used the Barkbuster Blizzard hand guards and heated vest/gloves in the colder weather. I have been very comfortable, even on 500+ mile days. This is through high winds, snow, rain, and heat. I hope this helps someone as picking products is a huge shot in the dark!

Hey Craig, thanks for the review. I owned the original C3 several years ago and, although I liked the fit and finish of the helmet initially, I eventually found that it didn't quite fit my head shape (intermediate oval) and, on a longer ride, it would leave red spot on my upper forehead. I took all the foam out in that area of the helmet and shaved it down slightly, eventually getting it to a comfortable fit that would work for me. Other than that I liked my Schuberth. The sound level was not as quiet once you opened all the vents but certainly acceptable. I did like the drop down visor and ratcheting chin strap though. I haven't owned another Schuberth since then and am a little hesitant to try another one considering the fit problems I did have. My head is 22.9"/58cm and I'd bought a Large.

As with all gear helmets are different subjective experiences for each rider…have an E1 Large, picked up as passed through Calgary…BPS Motorsports, great shop btw…to compare have a Shoei (on the shelf now), loved it but the interior wore out, comfortable but hot…on the Schuberth, I got it with the thinner pads, made it much more comfortable to wear-changed how it felt dramatically better, agree on the release as well, a bit pesky. Otherwise highway miles it is quiet (my experiences) Got this as my Klim pro is just so darn loud except off-road, I live in Alabama so heat/humidity are part of daily riding, and the modular makes it easier at a stop to grab a drink…thank you for the review, keep ‘em coming and be safe out there!

Appreciate the review. I have the Neotec 1. Like yours it’s 7 years old. I like the Neotec 3. But if I buy one, plus the Sena unit the wife will be wanting a new setup as well. $2500…our passion isn’t cheap.

Any manufacturers instructions on fit discuss that the helmet should be tight and not flop around. I have the c3 pro for about 9 yrs. Time for a new helmet. One thing you don’t mention was the removal on the inner lining for washing. Pretty easy to do. That’s important to me because from sweat helmets get,”butthead” stink. I wear pinrest ear plugs as well and I won’t ride without them. Schubert helmets are quiet but I still need ear plugs. I went through two sets of inner liners over the years. They can be ordered from Shuberth . That lengthened my use of the helmet. In the summer a do rag is prudent.

I happened to be near a Cycle Gear store today so I stopped in and tried on the 2x Schubert helmet. It fit my head perfectly and felt very comfortable. I experienced the issue you mentioned about it not closing all the way and how hard I had to press down to get it to lock. This didn’t really trouble me much now that I know about it. I really disliked the chin strap lock. It felt flimsy and not very easy to use. Although the Shoei Neotec 2 has a similar ratchet mechanism, it feels much more robust. Finally, I agree with you that the button, under the chin, to release the front of the helmet is more difficult to use than the Shoei N2. Since I was in the store, I can’t comment on the airflow. Would I replace my Shoei with a Schubert in a few years, when it’s time for a new helmet? Maybe. It is much less expensive than the $900 Shoei. Time will tell. Thanks for this review, Craig.

I've owned a C3 Pro, one of my favorite helmets of all-time, a C4, which was total garbage, a C4 Pro Carbon, which I found to be a great helmet, although it got poor reviews and now a C5. The C5 is considerably heavier than the C3 Pro, but it meets the new European ECE 22.06 safety standard. Ventilation is much better and the chin strap is no longer as close to your Adam's apple. As for having difficulty with the chin bar mechanism, I found that if I put a slight downward pressure on the chin bar, as I'm pressing the red release button, it opens easier/perfectly each time. I now much prefer the ratchet strap vs. the double D-ring strap, although I'll never be 100% convinced it's as safe. I've owned Klim, Shoei, AGV, Nolan, X-Lite and Schuberth modular helmets. I never close the modular chin bar with a slight or light pressure, but instead with a distinct downward motion to make sure that both sides are locked into place. Maybe that's overkill on my part, but to me, that's just part of owning a modular helmet. Once again, that's just me, but I find it comforting to know that it is indeed latched on both sides. My Klim TK1200 (made in China) would not always latch on both sides if I didn't use this method. It took me forever to break-in my Schuberth C3 Pro, but I was too stubborn to give up on it. I'm so glad I didn't, as it turned out to be the lightest, quietest, perfect fitting modular helmet that I've ever owned. I would be concerned with the build date on your C3 Pro. That helmet is no longer in production and hasn't been for a couple of years. While not a "hard and fast" rule, motorcycle helmets with styrene liners, which the C3 Pro has, are supposed to be retired at the seven year point due to the styrene becoming hard/brittle. I have 10-15 year old helmets that have always been stored indoors in a climate controlled environment and look like they just came out of the box. I wouldn't wear them for all the tea in China, as I have no idea how hard/brittle the styrene is. I always retire my helmets 6-7 years from the build date, not the date of purchase. Keep up the great work you always do and ride safe!

I purchased a Schuberth S2 maybe 3 or 4 years ago and it's still not broken in. So I fall back on my 11year old Arai RXQ. Many thousands of miles same headliner still comfortable. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!

I have the Schuberth e-1, which is the "adventure" spec of the c3. To my knowledge, the only differences are improved ventilation in the e-1, and a visor which i took off after my first ride anyway. Its been an amazing helmet. I love the smaller shell size, and it fits me like a glove. The fastening mechanism is so much better than D rings for me. It's super comfortable and quiet. The only minor gripe I have is the locking mechanism, which can be fiddly as you've described. It sucks its not working for you, but I'd imagine most of the issues are down to fit, and that's hit or miss as all of our heads vary. Thanks for sharing.

Schuberth's never fit my long oval head. As for road helmets I really can only use Arai Signet buckets with a 5mm liner. I tried Shoei, LS2, Scorpion etc, it's only in the Arai that I can get the right fit

I have the same headshape and all but gave up on modulars. I was pleasantly surprised by the Schuberth C5 and its 'long oval' fit kit. The internal liner has more options to tune the fit. My classic Arai Signet head now has a nice modular to ride in. Happy ridint!

I’ve had the Schuberth C5 for over a year now. I don’t think I’d buy another Schuberth. The face shield rarely closes right. The vents rattle when open. The cheek pads always come undone. It is comfortable but having to use two hands to get the visor to close is a hassle. Schuberth did send me new visor and hinge mechanism so we’ll see if it improves.

The difference in shell size between that and your Shoei is really well illustrated when you put it on your head; it looks so small, almost like it was painted on. I bought me Neo-tech at MOMS a few years ago and have been quite pleased with it.

I loved everything about my Shoei Neotec II except the weight. I have been using a HJC RPHA 90S Carbon the last few years. Super light, comfortable and quiet. Not as plush or expensive feeling as the Neotec but still very nice. I have issues with my neck and previous surgeries on it so weight is important.

I had a crash in my Neotec 2. It performed so well I bought another Neotec 2 to replace it when they were discounted during the Neotec 3 launch. The Neotec and C3 are designed for different head shapes. The Neotec is more oval and the C3 is more round. This affects the fit which could explain the pain around the back of the head. Usually one or the other will fit someone better. The Neotec 2 and 3 have a similar chin strap ratchet which I have come to like. The ventilation on my Neotec 2 is superb.

@@LivingOffTheSlab Yes it seems that way. I had my first Neotec 2 fitted at a shop. They were authorised dealers for both Schuberth and Shoei so were able to change out the cheek pads and headlining to get a perfect fit. I actually went in to try the C3 but he looked at my head and said we should try it but expected the Neotec 2 to fit me better. I tried both and he was right.

There are several riders who have committed about the E1, but I have not tried it. I do like the Hornet X2. My only complaint is that I get some condensation on the inside when it rains for long periods. I also have an RF1200 and it is an excellent helmet. The new model is the RF1400.

Is anyone saying anything about Craig’s popeye arms? Good job staying in shape, cool grandpa.

I bought a Neotec 3 from fc-moto in Germany. It was $300 cheaper than the US version. Also, mounting a Cardo on it worked reasonably well and it's quieter than my RF1200. It is heavier though.

Hello! I have had a C3 Pro for more than 5 years and the ventilation at the top works very well. Look inside the helmet at the front of the ventilation. There are two holes there, the Schuberth has a summer and winter function. These two holes can be covered for the cold season. For the warm season, just fold them inwards and you have full ventilation. I think the holes are covered on yours. Your prices for helmets in the USA are crazy. You can get a new C5 in Germany/Europe for that. I paid 349 euros for my Schuberth C4 Pro Carbon last year. Greetings from Bavaria

I have what I consider a "Schuberth head", and my take is that the internal shape of the helmet is ever so slightly different from a Shoei that I can't get comfortable with a Shoei helmet. If Shoei generally fits you well, then that might be a reason that the Schuberth feels tight. I've worn Schuberth full face helmets for years, and the strap mechanism never bothered me, but I have the same issue with the strap seemingly being too far back with my C4 Pro. Makes me wonder if that is specific to the modular models. I actually ended up putting mine up on a shelf because my chin actually touches the inside of the chin bar and I don't feel particularly protected riding like that. Instead of ordering my C4 Pro online like you did with your C3 Pro, I should've gone to the nearest dealer to try one on, as ordering online proved to be an expensive way to save a 4h round trip in my case. Regarding your comments about the ventilation - I have found that across my multiple Schuberth helmets, they all felt like they had less air moving through the helmet when the ventilation was open. I suspect that is one of the reasons why these helmets are so quiet, but it doesn't make for a comfortable summer riding in the SE USA. I currently use an Arai full face if I don't need/want a modular helmet because it has great ventilation, but it's one of these helmets that requires the use of earplugs to protect what's left of my hearing.

I have the Neotech 2 and the Sena unit is impossible to work with any type of gloves on, other then that it's the best helmet I have ever owned. At $750 plus the Sena it's not cheap. I just replaced the shield for $90 dollars which is also not cheap but now I am a Shoei fan. Coming from the Harley cruiser world and wearing half helmets all my life I can't believe how dumb I was. I guess wisdom comes with age . I recently purchased a Pan America and I can work the Sena through the right side hand control so it's no longer an issue. Thanks for the videos, ride safe and often.

C3 Pro is quite light, quiet BUT it has poor ventilation. I forgot and bought second one. I should probably go for C5 Pro...

Bought the Klim Krios Pro a year ago, loved all the features, but it began to "kill" the front of my head after a few hours. Bought the Arai Xd4 and it's super comfortable and I haven't looked back.

С3 Basic is my first helmet and I've been riding in it for the last 5 years and many kms. Although I agree with poor ventilation and a bit bulky chin strap, overall it's a great helmet. Maybe getting a thinner padding (they are available) would help mitigate your issues.

I got the AGV sport modular because of the weight (or lack thereof). I also have neck problems and the AGV made a big difference. The AGV is really comfortable for my head shape as well.

I get extra large and I focus on ‘intermediate oval’ for the shape. On my C3 Pro, is was a little tight, but it broke in well. The one thing I noticed, and the CycleGear staff confirmed, the chin bar closes weird. To make both sides latch you need to guide each side as the hooks meet the latch pins. I do like the quietness for sure, and I got mine at such a great price I couldn’t pass it up.

I contemplated buying a Schuberth helmet a number of years ago and borrowed one from a friend to give it a try. After riding for an hour I couldn’t get it off my head fast enough. I definitely have the wrong shaped noggin’ for them. When I bought my Tiger in March I wanted a modular and wound up getting an LS2 Valiant 2 which I have been very pleased with so far. The chin bar on these allows for open face riding with no additional strain on my neck b/c the bar flips right over to the rear of the lid which in my humble opinion is nothing short of a brilliant design feature. Still need to get out for a weekend ride to see if it works as well for a full day as it seems to do for just a coupla hours.

Hey Craig on the Shuberth can you change the pad sizes ? I've had to do that on some. The RF 1400 is my new Helmet and it is just as good or better than the RF 1200....

I looked, but so far I cannot find different pads for the large helmet. At least so far... I wanted a modular to make it easier to drink while riding.

I went to cyclegear and bought this. I asked of they have the box and manuals and they said no more like that they are offering. Just making sure i did not missed anything. Does it comes with extra visor? Any accessories like arai they have inside the box? Thanks!

It comes with the pin lock insert, pre installed but not an extra visor. Other than that, a bag and instructions.

I tried on a C5 and it didn’t feel right when I tried it on. Funny shaped head, no doubt. I have been wearing a Neotec II for the past few years and I have few complaints. Any thoughts yet on the Klim TK1200 Karbon Modular?

I have not tried it but have a few friends with them. They like the helmets but have had a few issues with latches and buckles.

I have exactly all the same concerns, and more than once, I thought the front was locked when it was not. Same problem with size. I went back to my other helmets

Love my c3 pro. No complaints. Latches effortlessly with and without gloves. Love the ratchet. HATE D rings. I’m thinking you must have thick fingers… the fabric patch over laps to keep things quiet.

It took about 3 months for my C3 Pro to break in and be comfortable. After that I have no comfort issues. I do agree that airflow is not great.

I looked at the C3 pro many times and almost purchased but ended up with a Shoei rf-1400, no regrets there. The last year of touring/commuting has been with the Krios Pro as seen in a short video I uploaded here. It's like wearing a bandana so light and comfortable, by far the softest cheek pads and liner on the market today.

For FF I love my HJC ARPHA 70 but I just got an LS2 Advant and boy do I like it. I only have about 750km on it and it is my new favorite. The chin fastener is not great but that is my only complaint.

I have a Schuberth E1 (basically a C3 pro with a peak) that I just retired after 6 years. All my other helmets are Arai sport helmets. I also found the Schuberth to be much tighter in the same size. It was painful even for the first month after a couple of hours. But eventually it broke in and became one of my favorite helmets of all time. I always wear earplugs. Definitely not the quality of Arai but everything always functioned well. Even the strap that I thought I would hate, became one of my favorite features, very easy to do up with a glove on. My only complaint was also that ventilation isn’t great. Looking for a replacement touring helmet now and having a hard time finding a modular helmet that I like more.

I have the Neotec 3 and the Schuberth C5. To make a correction , the Neotec 3 does have the Sena mounting built into the side (just like the 2). You said it doesnt. Also, you're right, the Neotec is loud, and the 3 is also loud. The Schuberth C5 is way quieter, and also better quality. Im selling my Neotec 3. I'm upgrading from the C3 Pro. Hope youre able to enjoy it. It was a decent helmet for me.

For safety reasons, I prefer a tighter helmet. When I tried the C3 on at Cycle Gear I preferred its mechanism over the old D-ring mechanism. It was much easier to do with my gloves on. I don't know how many times I put my gloves on first forgetting the D-ring and then having to take them off because I can't actuate the D-ring with gloves on. When it's hot out with the sun beating down on you every second counts. I will agree the rachet did feel a little bulky but it's easily adjusted according to the manager. The manager mentioned the internal vents are a necessity for good venting as well.

I guess when it comes to motorcycle helmets and what an individual likes boils down to personal preference. I started back up riding motorcycles in 2018 and went through at least five different helmets during that time. The last helmet I purchased was the Schuberth C3 pro helmet. For me, the helmet works and it's comfortable. It's time to get a new motorcycle helmet and I am looking at the Schuberth C5 helmet. Finally , I personally love the ratchet system as opposed to a D ring.

I have had a the Shoei Neotech 1 and 3, Schuberth C3 Pro, C4 Pro and C5 Pro. The Neotechs are ok. The quality is ok and the helmets are definitely loader. The Schuberth C3 is quieter with a good quality, but the ventilation could be better. Skip the C4's - not Schuberth's best work. The Schuberth C5 Pro is a great helmet. Still very quite with much better ventilation. The C5 Pro wins for me. The C5 for me was also the most comfortable helmet that I had owned over all the years of riding. After a short while I was used to the clasp mechanism. I used 2 Schuberth helmets in 3 different accidents (3 different totaled motorcycles). The first was the C3 Pro. I landed 30 feet down the road after hitting a car head on going 45 MPH and flying over the car on the side of my face. I walked away. At that time they had a free helmet replacement. The other 2 accidents involved deer and Schuberth C5 Pro. The first one I was June 2021 going 60 miles per hour when I hit the deer and I tumbled down the road for 75 feet. Again I was lucky and walked away and the helmet and Klim gear did their job. The last deer accident was last September. The helmet did its job very well. However, I hit trees and rocks with my shoulder and ribs (broken shoulder and all my left side ribs). The Klim gear contained my body, but had a lot of internal injury. I wish that I would have used one of the airbag systems in my jacket - it may have helped me. THANK YOU to the review. Jim

I also owned a Schuberth C3 and I wouldn't buy again. I now have an RPHA90s carbon from HJC. Although was not cheap it is very light and quiet and has been a great helmet. Might want to have a look!!!!!!

If I remember correctly you have a Puig windshield on your Tiger. Do you think that helps with wind noise and restricts wind flow into the helmet?

It does help with the noise and could limit air flow. Trade off, I guess.

I’ve used my thumb to press in the “styrofoam” at the neck to loosen helmets in that area since it’s not an impact area.

ALWAYS, choose tight over a little tight when getting a new helmet. Some motorcycle racers even go two sizes down to ensure that the helmet wont move around upon impact.

That might be great for a two hour motorcycle race, but pain and discomfort on a long trip is not good.

Shoei has gone to the same type of chinstrap as Schuberth starting with the Neotec II. I had a Neotec then a C3 Pro and am currently running a Neotec II but will be replacing it again over the winter/spring as it is already pretty much worn out after only 2.5 seasons. This included multiple long trips but I am disappointed in the durability of the Neotec II.

Arai Corsair intermediate oval has been my go to for years.

Did you consider the Schuberth C5? I think that’s the correct model.

Yup, I have the same reactions to my C3. That chin lock sucks. The ratchet strap latch is not an improvement on good old D rings. It’s also outrageously expensive. The good news: it’s quiet enough I can go without ear plugs. The comms speakers are built in, which is pretty slick. I could get it in hi vis yellow/green, which I really like. But the biggie is, IT FITS MY HEAD! (The Neotec didn’t.)

Ive had the neo tech 1 and 2. But the price of #3..yikes! Have to think about something else.

My neck has gotten arthritic AF from decades of bouncing around with these damn things on. I wear the lightest open faced I can find now if I'm not riding the naked bike. Funny that everyone worries about hearing, but going on 50 yrs of baffle free pipes, hundreds of thousands of miles, and music usually blasting above the wind noise in my helmets I hear just fine. I just have trouble shaking my head to say "no."

Shoei or Arai are the only helmets that fit me perfect and the quality is great... I've wasted alot of money on other brands.....

I have 3 helmets and the LS2 is a little better than my Shoei, the C3 is not a good helmet, the bottom vinyl at the base of the helmet started to flake off in the first @90-120 days, it's not very quiet and when you remove and wash pads they never get back to 100% of the size they were before washing. Unimpressed for the price point, 1 model up is a better helmet but Shoei and LS2 are better in my opinion for overall build quality. I like lots of German engineering but not for $800 bucks worth

I do that but also cut the chin strap to avoid someone using it. If I’m turfing it it’s because it’s no longer safe

Would've been nice if you had addressed its compatability with the glasses. Not all helmets play nice.

It is as much the glasses as the helmet. The ones I use worked fine, but a little tight on the left ear, my higher one. I have found heavier blade like temples work best.

I have a Shuberth C-3 modular.It's loud.

word is the c5 is better but i always stick with shoei.

The C3 Pro didn’t fit. Too round. The C5 is more of a long-oval and fits well.

$900 for a helmet!

It’s a shame because that’s not an inexpensive helmet.

Sorry but life is too short for wearing a helmet that doesn’t work for you. Ventilation is a must in summer. Hope you move on to a better one.

I will ever never use money on Schubert. Bad quality, leaking, noisy and expensive. There are a lot of better alternatives.

The water inside the visor eventually did it for me. I now wear LS2 Advant Carbon.
