I have to disagree: this is the closest I've ever heard a double bass sound like a cello. This man is incredible, and Arppegione no less!

@@michg8969 I got to agree with you on that. 90% of the time the double bass is at a relatively higher position to achieve a similar register to the cello.

Solo basses sound different than orchestral basses. They're tuned higher and have different strings as far as I know. And this maestro gets the most beautiful sounds of a bass!

@@andreashoppe1969 yes, we have diferent strings, solo and orchestral. Also the bridge is diferent for orchestral music and for solo pieces, because the distance from the strings to the bridge is idealy longer for orchestral and shorter for solo pieces. But tuning is the same as far as I am concerned, I always play in EADG tune (in orchestra basses usually play lower notes because that is their soul purpose). Also, resin makes a big diference, too.

Not only is your playing remarkable, but rarely do we find performances on KZread that are filmed so well. This makes the performance much more enjoyable. Thank you.

With all due respect, the camera work is terrible. The camera is wandering all over the place. We get shots from infinite vantage points, we get distance shots, closeups, audiences shots, overhead shots, and they change about every 4-5 seconds. It’s unbelievably annoying. As a musician I want to see the hands, and the interaction between the two players, not disembodied heads, or sudden zoom outs from 40 feet away. The camera should be set with one vantage point and left alone. Perhaps a second camera for closeups or piano shots. And that’s....all. No, the camera work is awful and the only solution is to listen without looking, but that’s what music is all about anyway.

Wow. I am a cellist and working on this piece once again. I have to say when I saw that this was being playing on a bass I was sceptical. Mr. Paradzik you made this piece sound like it belongs to the bass. Bravo! I was on the edge of my seat.

Absolutely outstanding! As a bassist myself, I know how difficult it is to get this kind of control and clean tone. And Mr Paradzik does it standing up, which I find a much more difficult way to play; I use a stool. A perfect 10, and I'm going to research getting some recordings of his work.

I am a young bassist and I just wanted to say that your music, attitude, emotion, and movement is a huge inspiration to me. I love all of it truly beautiful. Bass players like this is what reminds people us bassists do exist and we aren't always forgotten. Thank you for sharing your beautiful music with us. This is a melancholy piece no matter what instrument it's played on ... and the bass is probably the best in bringing that out, so I personally love this version!

Unbelievable tone and intonation from Mr. Paradzik. Very inspiring to a beginner like me (age 41!). Thank you!

Back to the practice room for me. Forever. haha. Absolutely amazing!!

TONE! Very even tone throughout the whole instrument. No thinning out at the top. Superbly done on a fine piece of kindling.

Thank you Mr. Schubert for this beautiful music. And thank you Mr. Paradzik for this wonderful play.

Wonderful performance. Made all the better by the endlessly gorgeous melodies of Schubert.

What a magical performance. I can't resist going back to this time and time again. Bring Schubert to Dublin.

저먼바이올린 추천곡.. 슈베르트가 지금은 사라진 악기 아르페지오네를 위해서 만든 곡을 베이스로 이렇게 연주하네요. 베이스로 도레미파솔라시도 음계조차 연주하기 힘든데, 베이스로 어떻게 어떻게.. 온몸으로 연주해야만 하는 베이스.. 피아노 또한 기가막히네요..

出だしの1小節で涙が止まりませんでした。この曲がコントラバスのために書かれたのではないかと思えるほどでした。ピアノがベーゼンドルファーなので雰囲気が際立ちますね。出会えて良かったと思える素晴らしい演奏でした。
