I just learned that my old history teacher in y8 (now I’m in y9 going into y10 in September) wife used teach the terrorist’s brother English when he was in school! She said her was a nice lad. One day sir told us he went to a bus stop near his house and saw the terrorist but back then he only knew him as the student that my wife teaches so of course he said hello and the other guys said hello and while they were having a conversation sir said he saw the guy holding a suitcase and asked about it and apparently the guys said it was clothes for a trip and sir said he didn’t think it was suspicious until he felt vibrations in his house and when he went outside the neighbors windows had cracked. I was so shocked knowing the terrorist and his bro were nice dudes! And that my own teacher spoke to them before the attack. But there is no way he could’ve known.🥺😭

This is possibly your worst nightmare as a teacher, head teacher, DSL etc. Hearing on the radio and news that there has been a terror attack at a concert where you know that some of your pupils are going. And then not knowing whether they’re okay. The things and thoughts that must have crossed their minds must have been horrific. And the students must have been terrified, not just for their safety but for all other students.
