When Steven Spielberg first showed John Williams a cut of the film, Williams was so moved he had to take a walk outside for several minutes to collect himself. Upon his return, Williams told Spielberg he deserved a better composer. Spielberg replied, "I know, but they're all dead."

Almost as perfect as Yitzack Perlman... 😌
I like her timing which is slower than most of the master violinists. The cello expresses this magnificent music so beautifully. Her performance is also a powerful visual statement. Ms. Guo plays to a dark, empty room with frames on the wall, some also empty, the video ending with that unforgettable, utterly heartbreaking image of the little girl in the red coat.

Usually the renditions of this piece are a bit rushed, but yours was both the perfect tempo and beautifully passionate. I consider you an inspiration to young cellists like myself. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.

Tina Guo do you enjoy making us cry!? 🐸
Tina is a wonderful cello player. She plays with so much emotion. She feels the music in her soul. She is my favorite female cello player. She is beautiful too.
Tina gorgeously made the cello weep to the Heavens. She gave the cello a heart and I felt it emote. Very well done. One of the top 3 covers of this piece I’ve heard. This is why we love Tina Guo.
She’s making the cello sound like it’s crying. It’s beautiful and perfect.

It is, from her skill to our ears and hearts 🎻✌️
This is one of the most beautiful and expressive renditions of this piece I've heard. The cello works so well, but the player's skill and heart is what makes it extra special.
It's amazing how you can take something that is so sad, and yet turn it into something of such resounding beauty. This is why I'm a fan.
I keep coming back here... I love this version. It's just that bit slower, perfect for the deep richness of the cello. Perfection
Hauntingly beautiful, like the sounds of weeping, sobbing & crying angels were ever slowly, slowly, slowly absorbing, occupying & piercing your soul...
I watched the movie when I was still a kid, and instantly became one of my favorites. Many years after, before I decided to play the cello, I heard the theme song, but didn't realized it was from that movie, and the moment I heard it, I had a strange feeling because it was so familiar, yet unknown. Later, I decided to play the cello, and some time after, I found out that the music I heard was from one of my favorite movies. It's awesome to see that I subconsciously chose the cello as my favorite instrument that first time I saw the movie, but many years later was the time for me to pick it up and start learning. Thx Tina Guo for, as usual, a wonderful rendition.
I absolutely love that you let us see how much you feel what you are playing, and I respect any artist who tackles this horrible subject through their form of artistic expression. My grandmother, the last of my family who survived the Nazis, passed away yesterday at the age of 87. It didn't feel quite real to me, until now. With the first time you wear that pained expression on your face the dam broke. I haven't stopped crying for half an hour. Despite that, you are brilliant. Keep touching people's hearts.
I'm a tough guy but your version of Schindler's List has touched my soul. You're amazing

I'm a pretty tough gal. I don't cry easily, I'm don't have a soft touch....but the scene in the movie where he lamented all the things he bought, all the things he had that he could have used the money instead to save more - my God I sobbed. How people today can act like the holocaust wasn't a problem, didn't happen, etc is horrific.
This rendition moved me to tears its captured all the pain and suffering such an expressive score.
Tina, this version has something different from the other versions of this song, you. You add more beauty, more sensitivity, more feelings, literally, you make the cello cry and lament. Thank you for so much beauty, it is truly like everything you do, something heavenly.
Tina, there is sooooo much depth of emotion in this video. I felt every note and your performance sent chills down my spine. Thank you so much for all of your videos.

The thing I love most about your music can't be explained in just one word but the one I can think of best is EXPRESSION! Not only are you an outstanding cellist and vocalist, but the emotion and power you hold over your playing is nothing short of magical! This ability you have makes you one of the best cellists in history, and most likely the best of our time! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the world! Keep playing! Oh where do I even start? Tina you are by far one of the greatest cellist's I've seen on KZread. This is my favorite instrument and just watching your videos makes me sit right back down to play my cello. I've rushed to class and thrown your videos on the projector for everyone to see just because I can't be the only one in my school to see it (only music geek in small town). I can listen to your classical covers for hours. And your style with metal is brutal and badass on so many levels. Tina you are badass and an amazing cellist. PLEASE continue posting, I love it all!!!
Beautiful version! And I really like the red dress as a reference to the movie :)
Every note is a 100 lives. So much feeling in her playing. I'm in tears.
Literally brought tears..Thank you for uploading.
you can find a couple of covers from schindlers list but actually tina's version is the only one that sounds unique. thank you, Tina! :-)
Absolutely stunning Miss Guo. The cello is my favorite instrument of the violin family and you just proved why.
In my humble opinion one of the saddest and most beautiful songs ever written. I never thought about an interpretation on a cello. Thank you for showing this to me, youtube algorithm.

A beautiful performance, and at the end, when the image of the girl in red appeared, the tears flowed.
A red dress for a red coat girl... played amazingly. Every time a musician like you Tina, raises an instrument and produce this specific music, the world becomes just a little better, while we remember how bad it could be. Some people pray to God, some people stand a moment and remember the millions who were exterminated, while the world stood across, and some just listen to this heart touching sad sound. Thank you, Tina!
...OMFG...my favorite movie theme ever on my favorite instrument. I play no musical instrument, but I think it's safe to assume some of those notes, especially that one really high one at the end is a challenge to nail. I had chills through most of that, it sounded perfect but altered just enough to set itself apart from Itzhak Perlman's beautiful rendition. Amazing.

Perlman's original version is gorgeous! I played around with different tempos but in the end, playing it slowly and fully drawing out the emotion from each phrase felt most natural for my own interpretation 😄 thank you!

Beautiful beyond belief!! Sublime, subtle, smooth, strong, significant!
Just listened to another version by another cellist. From the first note, I got goosebumps, but it was too fast. Listening to Tina, from the first note, my lungs stopped working as my breath was taken away. From the third note, my eyes were moist and from then on, I was lost in the music. 5 minutes to listen to the piece. 10 minutes to recompose myself. Absolute perfection.
This song is simply perfect! The feelings It covers are limitless! This performance is flawless and full of passion! Priceless! An amazing and timeless musical Jewel!
What a beautiful piece from a good film! Yeah, I listened to the version with the violin, but listening to this, the cello has that little more edge to hit the somber, if not, depressing mood of the composition by John Williams. Good job, even if this is 2 years old.
That´s the saddest theme of all time. Played beautifully (as always) by Tina Guo. I saw her playing for the first time in a live performance here in Brasil, just a few meters away from me and have been a fan since then. She´s such a great musician!
I've watched several versions of the piece before, but truly, your version here is so tear-jerking, I watched it hundreds of times but still found my throat ache and eyes melt to tears. what it is I don't know actually, but your feeling is so real. I felt like being taken into a world full of emotions
Exquisite playing, both from you and your invisible pianist ;)
If anyone makes a list of the top10 sad songs, this one has to be on it.
This is astonishing. I'm utterly floored by how perfect this performance is

Cheers from a bassist. One said (in the comment section of a video of an orchestra playing this song) that emotion is a universal language. I say that music that evokes emotion is an universal language.

.....as a bass player....inspired by jaco...stanley...marcus....MK.....i nlw find as much and probably more inspiration in this lady to keep playing and dont plateau..keep going if you stay there it will fill ur life and soul...in your work and people around you with negativity and kill ur soul and ambitions. Tina and her music and art has given me the same desire and inspiration to play the bass and express myself again. I now play reggae bass....far from the spark from the 80's giants that slapped my heart. Now i have an other hero with 4 strings that i can embrace, learn and be in complete awe of. So much respect for this Lady. Blessings peace and love
Amazing!! You can feel the cello crying and the music it's like a slow sea wave caressing the sand gently ..

Sublime performance of haunting music by a magnificently gifted artist. Doesn't get much better than this. When you describe Tina's work, you run out of superlatives............

I hear so much emotion. I see how you truly connect to the music. The little movements in your face as you play. It's amazing. I can feel the passion you have for your music. It made me cry. Wow. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with the world.
I nearly cried, you played this so beautifully.
Hi Tina, almost Oct 2020 and is still listening! Magnificent and thank you!
Wow, this is beautiful... I've been listening to so many of your videos the last few days... this one is one of my favorites... I love string instruments in general so much, but the cello specifically is truly a heavenly sounding instrument!
I have never heard this played on a Cello before, but it is even more haunting and more emotional on this instrument than on the violin. Amazing job!
I've seen a lot of your videos and heard u play in various moods and environments..but this has to be the most perfect expression of sound I've heard. You made it perfect.
not sure how much is due to recalling the movie but your performance made me emotional and brought a tightness in my throat. Such a beautiful performance, you can see her heartfelt connection as she plays this song. Thank You.
I was listening to violin, cello, bass, and guitar versions of this beautiful song. The thing that stands out in your performance is your expression (not only in your instrument but in your body and soul). I was really missing that in the others. I loved it. You should be very proud!
Beautiful! Glad I stumbled on this. We played this in my High school Orchestra, but didn't come close to doing the piece justice like you did.
...the way you make that cello sound,... feels like those strings are tied to my spine !
Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire.... goosebumps every time i hear this....
I loved it so much, I can't even tell you HOW much. Not because english isn't my first language (it's not but that doesn't matter here) but because some feelings just cannot be expressed by words. You captured the very soul of that piece, the whole movie and you made it your own. You gave it life, maybe even its own tragedy, its own sound of sadness and hopelessnes, its own tears and quaky smiles and that's... that's what music should be about. Everyone can play the notes, if he/she trains enough but without a soul, music is simply music. Thank you for sharing your soul with all of us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, that I got to listen to this
this literally brought me to tears
We cannot hear it expressed in any other way-utterly profound. Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces. Our souls weep the cries and pangs of millions who were systematically slaughtered while the world watched in horror, yes, but also in apathy and indifference. Tragically, little has changed in present times. This is musical expression of the highest caliber, genius in its conception and delivery and utterly overwhelming in the best way possible.
I cry with this performance. Amazing.
