A great dac/amp. A very neutral sound, powerful and zero distortion at ear-bleed levels. Absolutely a god send unit for beginners and even more experienced desktop listeners. A great price. If I listen to a badly mastered album, I simply tone control the situation with a separate Lokius eq. Great stuff. Thanks.

I like the silver. But the silver finish on Schiit's Texas products isn't even close to the nice satin finish of their Valencia products. Stick with the (cheaper!) black finish on products from Corpus Christi.@@TheVeganVicar

Always love your reviews and this one is no different. I am not a new audiophile/headfi listener and I recently noticed that Shiit. is now selling off the Magni+ for $59 so I got one. Can't go wrong at that price. Hoping to drive my HifiMan Edition XS and use Schiit BiFrost as the DAC

Got mine a while ago when i was out of town, finally came home and hooked it up, am i doing something wrong here, because im getting no sound. do i need more hardware or something? I got the internal DAC version so if i understand what this thing does i just flip the switch to use the DAC card and plug in the power and usb c to my usb port on my pc and plug in the headphones and boom, should work right? Somebody let me know if im missing something lol

Do you think this sounds better than the magni modi stack?

USB C input works without a problem. Doesn't bend at all. Never had that issue and I've picked up and moved my Magni Unity around quite a bit.

Am I right that you can use the USB -C Input for Data and power Delivery? The Schiit chatbot said its enough so I would not need the Wall Power

@@Queza the USB C is for data input for the DAC. You will need to use the AC power supply for power.

@@the12gaugeshotty thanks for the fast reply! Mhhhh.... That's sad >< did you tried it on the PC? The chatbot specified that the USB port only needs 500mA to run the magni with an internal DAC... And nearly every USB 2 port supports this spec when it's plugged in on to the mainboard

@@Queza yes. I have it plugged into a USB 3.2 port on my Windows desktop. If you don't have the AC power supply plugged in it doesn't get power at all. USB is just data only for the DAC. Very convenient for a sub $200 all-in-one amp/DAC. The Schiit Modi+ DAC does get power and data from the USB C but that's just a DAC.

Anyone know if the DAC will accept Android phones to the USB-C? I will mostly be using this for PC but it would be nice to have the option.

I didn't think Zen CAN powered 6xx all that well tbh. I was in a minority on that view but it distorted in the bass with that headphone more than was acceptable for a product that was marketing itself toward that pairing, IMO.

I have a 660S2 and the Magni Unity powers it perfectly. Gets quite loud at normal gain. High gain really pushes it. Bass is absolutely perfect but the 660S2 are well known for having clean bass response.

@@the12gaugeshottyI have the same Combo now Unity with 660S2 i will test it with Aune AR5000 this week. I had also Ibasso SR3 was good too.

I recently bought a he1000se but I’m honestly pretty disappointed (I’m coming from a senheiser Hd560s) my stack is the singxer sda 6 pro and a90 so I feel like I should be getting a large improvement from the 560s. I can tell the soundstage is slightly bigger, the bass slams harder, and the there is more treble but other than that there doesn’t seem to be any differences to me. How do you learn to pick apart the differences? Btw I have tenitus from listening to music extremely loudly In the past? Will I just not be able to hear the differences?

With practice I'm sure you can hear many (maybe not all) sonic differences. Your brain will compensate for the tinnitus and still recognize changes in patterns once it familiarizes with enough patterns. I think the big issue you're having here - and this might a tough pill for some to swallow - is the A90. The A90 is not particularly resolving and it doesn't do well with the time-domain-dependent performance characteristics like spatial imaging and separation and attack/decay timing. My guess is the HE1000se sounds very sharp, harsh, and flat? That's A90. Near A90's price I'd look into Lake People G111mk2.
