It helps me to gather important information. My boyfriend wanted me to come see him in Estonia with Schengen visa long stay so we can reunite we miss each other so much already. SO! I have a house in Croatia (Owned for 10 years). I have a right to temporary residence in Croatia under EU article 50 of the European Union. If I travel to Croatia by road I pass through 5 European countries. My Austrian wife and I (I’m an American) were interviewed in Vienna at this special immigration Police unit that took our documents showing monthly salary, proof of housing and the size of our apartment (they wanted to know if our home could accommodate 2 extra visitors). They did not seem particularly interested in my proof of a friendship (or relationship), I had submitted photos and they never looked at them. Later, when I asked, the officer said “Nobody would go through this much trouble or expense if they DID NOT have a friendship with this young couple.” I believe it was important for the Austrians to see that we were who we said we were and not some human smuggling group. We finally received a special code number right then and there, right as we were ready to leave (it had a name but I’ve forgotten). We were told to transmit this number to our friends in Cuba “after a couple of days” (this police agency needed time to transmit this number to the Austrian embassy in Havana). We then fashioned a one page, concise but friendly letter-of-invitation. I believe this approval number was the key, the most important part of this process. Basically, this interview in Vienna did most of the investigative work for the Embassy. I really believe the rest was up to this young couple: They were clearly not criminals or “desperate”. I really don’t think it mattered to this agent if this couple came back or not. He must’ve known there was a real good chance they would not. I suspect, strongly, that this whole process now came down to whether this young couple was likable and sincere. The interview apparently was mostly conversational, the weather, the cost of food…the lines at the stores. I think this Embassy interviewer made up his mind in 5 seconds after having met them. I don’t know if every country does it this way…but it must be similar. I will gladly help with advice since this process is rather mysterious in spite of all the KZread videos on this subject. Good luck!!!

No. You are not advised to pay for the tickets before your visa approval. However some schengen countries like Sweden you need to have reservation ticket . For denmark you don’t need it.
