Very fair & reasonable interaction. The cop was ensuring the standard of the UAV was in an airworthy condition, it wasn't. To fix it up is minimal cost & affix the op ID as per the contract you agreed to when it was issued. Good video illustrating a cop who was being fair for once. No fines, confiscations, ego, pride & brinkmanship.
Schedule 8 does not give 'authority' to seize a drone. It only gives authority to make you land the drone.

Yes it does, read schedule 8 (6) But the constable must have reasonable grounds that an offence has been committed first before he can search someone. A constable may seize anything that the constable discovers in the course of a search under this paragraph if the constable has reasonable grounds for believing that it is evidence in relation to- (a)an offence under any of these provisions of the ANO 2016- (i)article 94A (certain unmanned aircraft: permission for flights over or near aerodromes); (ii)article 239(4) (prohibited or restricted flying); (iii)article 240 (endangering safety of an aircraft); (iv)article 265A(2) (various requirements under the Unmanned Aircraft Implementing Regulation relating to UAS operators); (v)article 265B(2) (various requirements under the Unmanned Aircraft Implementing Regulation relating to remote pilots); (b)a relevant offence under article 265B(3) of the ANO 2016; (c)a relevant offence under article 265E(7) of the ANO 2016; or (d)a relevant prison offence.

Well done for telling someone who said he's from the Drone Team about flying a Drone, numpty. Well done the cop for not letting you fly it and explaining stuff that you'd "accidentally" forgotten.
What an awesome cop. What a great attitude. I used to ride motorbikes and traffic with a passion for bikes were always awesome. The drone cop here with a passion for drones was the same. Good to see
The cop was right on this occasion, operator I.d. must be displayed on the drone, the tape may take it over 249 grams and damaged props. It's not airworthy.
The tac ops car looks really cool ngl
You were under no obligation to let him examine your drone because you hadn't even had it out your bag. Plus as far as I can see there are no provisions in schedule 8 that allows a constable to examine it anyway. As for the drone... Uses epoxy glue in the body crack, replace propeller and stick OP ID on it.

@@auditinglancashire Yes you are correct, its schedule 9 (8) that gives them the power to inspect a drone, But to use schedule 8 is still unlawful because ignorance of the law is no excuse. Not sure the drone officer would pass an inspection either when addressing the public...sunglasses, gang badge, fitness(?) and self importance (doesn't work out of a station, but headquarters, which many would say is also a station!) Does schedule 8 allow for a drone to be inspected, rather than searched for? Surely he's fishing just to find something?

The police can prosecute you for any summary offence, retail theft plus any 'either way' offence where they anticipate a guilty plea and sentencing by a magistrate. Crown courts and up require the CPS to prosecute.
operator id must be displayed on your drone
To be fair the drone does need to be airworthy, basic maintenance.
Go home put spare blades on and then go back lol...I had a good laugh at the tape on camera...and all you need is some sticky tape and write your ID on the tape.
Interesting
They should put that plod in charge of safety at Boeing, airworthy condition has never mattered to them. That’s why they’re glad MH370 has never been found
The drone did look in a bit of a state but is this officer qualified to say a bit of tape and a nick in the propellor makes it unflight worthy I've flown in planes with bit of cowling missing of engines etc

If he is recognised to be trained on the use of drones, which he appears to be, and he believes it to be unfit to fly then yes he would be justified in taking action if the guy attempted to fly it. Ultimately, the only place that a final decision could be made would be in a courtroom.

Ah, so you can tape a piece of paper with operator ID on it?....So get Reusable Vinyl Stickers (Vistaprint can make them to order) and only place the flyer ID on the drone as you set it for flight...So if the filth ask to check the airworthiness they still don't get your ID whilst they are maliciously fault finding, like they do when you challenge them at a traffic stop and they ain't got sh*t.....We need a deep-dive into the use of Section 8 ANA? If the cop has reasonable grounds to believe that offence has taken place or that he thinks that an offence may take place he has a right to examine the drone. It may be open to interpretation what a offence could be but at the end of the day he's entitled to check it if he says he thinks that an offence was going to take place and there's nothing you can do about it and you can stand your arguing about it all day but at the end of the days law is representing the law if he wants to do someone he can do it if you refuse you'll just call his buddies down and pin you to the ground while I'm inside so all your arguing and pointless bickering is a waste of time, also there's no user ID on the drone and it is an offence to fly a drone without user ID on there.
