First time playing the Schecter Reaper thru my pedalboard and tube amp. Fooling with neck and bridge pickups (Sustainiac off) then the 3 sustain modes.

    Hello. I would like to know how thick the body is and what block is used on the Floyd, 28 or 32 mm? Thank you in advance for your attention!

    I am. It needed to be setup when it arrived, but the fretwork was really good and I was able to get the action very low with no issues. The neck is extremely thin, sorta like an Ibanez RG, some might think it too thin, but it’s fine. I actually think the bridge humbucker sounds good and the Sustainiac works great. The Floyd is the Korean model, but aside from the fine tuners being a little stiff/rough, the bar feels and works perfect. Most impressive to me was the height of the locking nut, which was spot on (they’re almost always too high and require lowering, which is a pain in the ass). Anyway! An excellent Rock ax for a very fair price.

    A Floyd Rose is fantastic! It’s a very different beast to use, setup, and string, but everyone should have at least one Floyd guitar👍🏼

    nice sounds. does the sustainer activate for both neck and bridge pickups or do you have to be on bridge pickup to work?

  • @riffs66

    @riffs66

    Activating the Sustainiac automatically puts you on the bridge pickup no matter where the pickup selector switch is.

    I haven’t experienced that. On a side note: the tones (clean & dirty) from the neck pickup are surprisingly excellent, imo. I was shocked at how “Stratty” a tone I could get running it through my rig - seriously good.

    @@riffs66 It sounds terrific. I'm a big fan of Schecter, always have been since the 80s when they were still known primarily as a parts company here in L.A. They only made a few models in those days, the most popular of which was their two bucker tele which Pete Townsend played and their superb strat. They used Tom Anderson designed fat pole pickups. Very well-made guitars. I use an entry level Schecter as my main ax with a Steve's Special and Air Norton and I added a coil split on the tone knob. Great guitar, great value, zero tuning issues. I've got nothing against pricy guitars when they are worth it and have owned many, but when you can just get a midrange to very affordable instrument and make a few tweaks, especially considering how much more you can get for your money, why not? Back in '87 I bought an ESP Horizon at Ace Musci in Santa Monica, CA. It was half the price of a Jackson Soloist and twice the quality and more cutting edge. I got it for about $700 with a case. But because it was "Made in Japan" a lot of players glossed over it and went for the Jackson. I don't care where something is made, but rather HOW it is made. Japan makes world class instruments, and so do the South Koreans. The South Koreans are running some plants in Indonesia and these keeps the quality up. I always tell this to new players, not to get hung up on the boutique thing unless they actually need a specialized, custom-made instrument. I admire the great builders like John Carruthers who built me an instrument in '90, or Sadowsky, Paul Reed Smith, etc. They are world class. But I like my bargain guitars too.
