I can't believe I watched this whole vid.... you do a great job at keeping your viewers entertained! cheers. the finish on these guitars are brilliant
This as the six string version with the fixed bridge and the custom shop pickups in both positions is my absolute dream guitar.. I just love how it looks like it is made of driftwood and combined with the black hardware and the shine through copper of the pickups.. wow its just staggeringly beautiful o_o With stuff like this on the market its so hard to keep focused on saving for a proper amp and cab first! :-/

You're not wrong at all
Hi! Just a note. It's not a Fernandes Sustainer. It's a Sustainiac Stealth Pro from Maniac Music, Inc. and it's overall way better than the Fernandes one. Cheers!
The fretboard radius and size is a very important feature for me at least, I'd assume many other players too. I can use it to compare the necks of guitars that aren't stocked where I live so I know what to expect. In the case of the Apocalypse I was able to determine that the neck is nearly identical to my Avenger and order it on that basis.
great tones, impressive review overall!
Guitar manufacturers take note: Now that SS frets are no longer new and come in every size, and generally cost 20 to 30 dollars more than regular frets, please just add that cost and put them on all your guitars. I will no longer be purchasing guitars of any kind without Stainless Steel frets. Changing strings is much easier than changing frets. Thanks.

I literally just bought an sls elite 7 over a hellraiser hybrid based on the ss frets and got the neck thru as a bonus, the price difference was only a couple hundred bucks and well worth it
Absolutely Gorgeous guitar, it's perfect to me!
I think providing the fretboard radius is very important to a lot of players. I agree that playing a guitar is important but if you've played a lot of different radius guitars then you probably know which "specs" you prefer. For example I would never buy a guitar with a 7.25" radius (vintage style Fender) because bending notes with a relatively low action is impossible without fretting out. I mean compare that 7.25" Fender radius to a PRS Mark Holcomb which is a 20"... Those fingerboards couldn't be more night and day different. In general, I agree that playing a guitar in person is the BEST way to determine if a guitar is right for you but let's face it more and more people just buy guitars online, so I think providing as many specs as possible is a great thing - especially if you have the knowledge of how those specs will reflect a guitars performance.

Tru dat. I don't even give a second look at guitars that are 16" or more in the radius dept. these days - I know it will be uncomfortable. E.g., I love the features of many Ibanez models, but I don't gel with any of them personally - too thin & flat.

I don't really like them too round either. One of my favourite guitars right now has a 9.5 and that's a bit too round for me because bends and high notes tend to just die and fast runs are really difficult to nail so I'm actually considering replacing the neck with a 12 inch one. I guess Chapmans 13.8 pretty much hits a sweet spot. 12 is still a bit too round for modern playing styles but 13.8 is still round enough to feel like it has perosnality.

Yes please do not slouch with this one. We need to know the radius. I had to stop the vid to come make sure someone said something. A compound radius is an upgrade for sure and id like to know im getting something out of my price range.

Just go to the manufacturer's website. KZread personalities aren't "experts"- they are just random guys who figured out that they could make an income creating content on youtube... then guitar manufacturers saw that they had a large following and sent them a guitar to demo to get some FREE advertising. He's just a guy like you and me- not an official source. (My comments should not be misinterpreted as being negative or judgmental towards anyone- they are just the facts of reality :)
always love your videos

Just realized this may have been a joke and need get some paper towels.
Ive seen other unboxing videos and was blown away it came in a box with no gig bag
Great review I ordered one from Sweet water to add to the collection.
Any word from Schecter or the German distributor on the setup of these? You mentioned that you would follow up with them. Also, any response on the few details that lost marks? Missing paint etc? Thanks for the great vids and being thorough. So many reviewers "love" everything and spare the criticism, but I'm sure the companies want to know about these shortcomings in production. Cheers.
I bought a Solo II Apocalypse recently and it also had the same issues where the fret board met the body.
schecter actually has the fr-s spec'd with grover tuners... the apocs without locking nuts have schecter locking tuners. and i agree with others here fretboard radius is a pretty telling spec if you know what you like. maybe slightly less so on a compound radius because it doesn't describe the relationship of the curves to one another, but still...
Haha epic @9:49 "i'll do it anyway cuz otherwise i have nothing to talk about" and yet this video is 54 mins long. That's why we love you.

at 20 mins now and he still talks. Hahaha
i wish you would review a guitar with emg pickups, like schecter hellraiser. im dying to see your honest reaction
There is a solution for the jack problem. it is called Loctite ;) Also, the vocal processing could use a faster attack time on the compression. Those explosions are killing me (headphones).
When i purchased my guitar Apocalypse C1, I didnt even get a gig bag with it. Spent just shy of a grand and the stingy gits didnt give me anything. That could be down to the PMPT music shop though as much as Schecter
Nice stuff man :) I could do without the octave up on the sustainer, or maybe blend it in with the original sustaining note, but they are cool axes ^^
please do some videos on their custom lines, e1, v1 and solo ii
I like this guitar but I always accidently touch the volume poti, especially when tremolo picking. Is my technique just bad? How can I fix this?
Personally I like the "traditional" jack plugs, because it is way cheaper to replace if it breaks (and the barrel plugs can break too), the only thing you need is some Loctite on the threads and no problems at all. :)
I want to get this kinda sound. But can an passive do the job without getting a tone of pedals? How about actives? And I thought about the Black winter set. :)
awsome looking guitar sir
Guitar is so brutal its unraveling your sweater!
why is the carve so much more radial on the hardtail? About to order a fr s friday
That's hilarious! My girlfriend says the same thing - that our cats love me more than her - and she is so jealous! BTW, I just bought a Schecter 8 string with a Floyd Rose and EMG's, and it is awesome! Plus - I used to have a 6 string Schecter with the Sustainer and I removed it, and custom fit it into a USA Jackson King V! Works great! Cheers.
best guitar review I've seen online, not just for this guitar but all guitars. great job
that song starting at 1:54 kinda has a Devin Townsend feel to it; I like it.
played one today and noticed the same thing right away!!
Are you demoing a guitar or amps. It's hard to tell!!
Some Schecters have the barrell plug jacks.... They should just put them on all of them.
i see a pickup cavity and i want it partly painted black
You would assume that in this era of technology that Fernandes would be able to make a product that is devoid of battery use and simply harness the power straight from when the cable is plugged in . And does anyone else have the view that the switch could be better placed .. And I do wonder when I will see a range of schecters that will come with kahlers ..

The bridge pup is well rounded
Finaly dropped a 7 string👍 to drop a!
do you recommend this or SLS elite?
... 03/17/2020: Can anyone out there answer these questions? The Schecter Guitar Research PT Apocalypse Electric Guitar Rusty Grey pickguard is a great Heavey Metal guitar. But, can you play "clean and warm" sounding music? Also, it has the look of a Telecaster, so can you split the humbuckers and just play in the middle position and get that Telecaster Twang? I love your reviews - No sugar coating and you are not afraid to point out defects. Thank You?
that intro song is really catchy
I must have this guitar
I really like this song
Ever string your Floyd Rose guitars backwards? Put the ball ends through the tuners and cut the strings at the fine tuners. Makes restringing super easy (plus I saw Steve Vai's guitar's stringed like that somewhere :P )
@97warlock
3 жыл бұрын
The only step it saves is instead of cutting the balls off, you cut the other end off. Still gottta cut 3 strings regardless
What was the song at the begining?
the clean sound on both pickups in C-1 fr-s is not bad at all, but it's sound not very good either, I mean there is no new surprising clean sound from schecter in this series, basically this gig is just made for metalhead.
I just bought the C-7, looks green as hell! I'm sure I'll get used to it but it def looks more brown on videos and in pictures

Thanks for the color info, a lot to like about the apocalypse scheckter's. But finish is definitely not one the red one looks like it got shot up with a paintball gun and just can't go for a swamp green.
Neck radius is important to me. New guitarist dont know or care for that stuff. As long as its not too extreme either way im good.
Are you Danish? You sound like King Diamond, which is awesome. :)
Killer song!
Leslie! 11:39 You rock!
This is fucking dope.
They probably just ran out of one brand of tuners that day in the plant. The whole fretboard radius is just to let people know this may not be the guitar for them if they like a different radius (rounder or flatter).
@bigfatemails

Floyd rose versions don't have locking tuners as they have the lockkng nut instead. He was reading the wrong specs.
What about the pickups? Good? Sorry I don't have time to watch the whole video.
Synyster Gates Custom S review please!
anything over a grand should come with a gigbag and the quality of these guitars really needs looking at ...i was thinking very seriously about getting a Schecter but now im going to avoid them if this is the quality they offer...sorry if i am appearing overly harsh but they suck.

It seems like whenever Schecter puts out a new Korean made model, they have their "first batch issues". World Musical Instruments is a great shop, and they put out mostly quality work, but first runs aren't their thing for whatever reason. I have five Schecters, and they're all fantastic.
cant imagine what dimebag would have done with those pickups . HOLY SHIT 33:36
As you can see, the volume knob on most newer electric guitars is TOO close to the tremolo. This is something that has bugged the shit outta me ever since Korea, Indonesia has taken over 90% of the major guitar production. Ibanez,Schecter, Fender all have volume knobs too close to the tremolo. Unless you have very tiny hands! I recently bought an Ibanez iron label 7 string, and i moved the volume knob way over towards the kill switch. i had just enough room in the cavity to do it.
0:08 This (wrong) note reminds me of HevyDevy stuff.
And you can Actually Hear The Gulp, which gives a finer Tone. Then again I almost barfed my coffee up when I heard that Famous Gulps. Now can I ask, what kind of Coffee ?
idc bout cosmetics. it sounds great. ive seen them for a grand tho
That switch on the 7 string is really a turn off. I was considering buying one but damn, for me that often switch pickups, that switch is a no go... sad.
Great video and great guitars. But I don't get your obsession with push-push-buttons - push pull does the job waaaay better. Just my humble opinion ;)
What a beautiful guitar, but the only 2 apocalypse in Sydney is so...I don't know ...they look green...like moldy bread aaaahhhh
I'm a long time schecter fan, I have 7 ,would have 9 but had to send back the sls elite evil twin 3 times then finally gave up on that one, and sent back a merrow km7 mklll just last week, all do to very poor craftsmanship. This is so unlike the schecter I'm a fan of,all of the 7 I have, some about 15 years old rite up to a couple years ago are all pretty much flawless which is why I loved them so much and they play great too. But now, omg all the guitars I sent back had shit fret jobs/fingerboard bindings chewed up around the fret wires, tooling gouges in the bindings around fingerboard, finish flaws on all of them, bad flaws too not nit picky stuff, stuff that should make them b stocks. On one the truss rod wheel was rusted pretty bad and on another the wheel was bent real bad to where it couldn't ever be adjusted, one I was going to keep cause even though it had finish flaws it still was the best one I received out of all these fuckups and the evil twin is real hard to find so I was like fuck it cause it really does sound and play extremely well, but after about an hour of playing I noticed the sound cutting in and out when I would adjust pickup switch and volume knob, I checked wiring and saw a nightmare in there, one solder joint fell off completely as soon as I touched it,then I was like oh well ill fix that no problem, but then I found 3 wires with insulation melted through to bare wire, and another wire that broke off from somewhere, not sure where it was supposed to go, there was more issues but those the more serious ones.
How can you bitch about the cleans of a sustainiac? The guitar sounded pretty good to me and i did enjoy the review. Not enough people tell you nit picky quality control issues. Like you said with the different tuners maybe the fr equipped is more of a proto.
THE one detail I was hoping to find out here didnt show up. ............. Need to see the fret markers along the upper side of the fretboard. - For some reason all advertisements Ive checked out theyve failed to show the side fret markers.
I have had to replace barrel jacks on a few of my basses and they can fail just as easily...
@Escapism7133
7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have an old Ibanez SoundGear bass and it's input jack has broken multiple times... And sense it is proprietary you have to order an Ibanez part (which is generally a little more pricey). My friend has also had his Ibanez bridge break... Also proprietary and expensive. Great playing and sounding basses but I don't like their parts reliability.
What the hell are you talking about? board radius is not to much of a big deal for me. However. Fret board radius is a big deal for a lot of people. females and males with small hands. Guys with large hands normally don't like the smaller boards. So forth so on. The stats would not be there if people didn't ask for them over the years. Just saying.
the pickups kinda sound like bareknuckle nailbomb alnico

You're reading the wrong model. Schecter site says Grover tuners with locking nut for that model. www.schecterguitars.com/guitars/apocalypse/c-1-fr-s-apocalypse-rusty-grey-detail

You were down playing the fretboard radius, fretboard radius makes a huge difference to some players.

I tried to convince myself from getting a Schecter. But after two months: Solo II Hellraiser is expensive, no case, Pasadena almost shitty pickups, SunValley FRS shitty EMG retroactive, and PT with Sustainer has the great SuperRock pickups but no comfort cuts on the tele body. Just give an eye to EVH Wolfgang Special and really beats without "but". I only saw excited people on PT's because the SuperRocks, but no more. I would take a Satin Black Custom Solo II, but it's not shipped to my country.
Should have made the Sheriff joke lol
All that research and they still can't sound any different than they always have. It doesn't take much to remake a 80 year old guitar and just make it look different and add mass production pickups.
jesus thats not a tube amp. its a computer ?

Return that shit! Like Sustainiac pickup sounds better than the bridge's Schecter.
33:40 LOL WAT
1,300!!??!!?? Yes that should come pristine, with a case, and they better swallow! Heehee! I usually think schecters look a little on the cheesey side n too far over the top, like.. trying too hard to impress teens, but I do like this one. A Lot. They usually have good tone n this one sounded nice but $1,300... I think I'll look elsewhere.

I don’t see the notion of trying to impress teens, but more so impressing people of a particular culture/sub genre, who prefer a style or look, people of varying ages.
This is just a hot-rodded Jeff Loomis guitar.
