The secret to Scharnhorst is HE. Your 20 second base reload means you can set battleships on fire faster than they can put the fires out. Also 11 inch guns with AP are great for citadels on Cruisers. She’s still my favorite tier 6 Battleship.

Reload time aligns well with the time out of most BBs DCP of HE Fires. Meaning, you can watch to see if a BB insta-DCPs the fire(s). If they do, your next salvo likely won't be blocked by DCP immunity.

*The Scharnhorst is the Angry Honey Badger of the T6/T7 BB's and it will absolutely wreck Red team BB's if played competently* _It gets even nastier if you have Hyde at 16/2+ as the commander for better penetration and pen angles plus 5% extra health. Add in Jaujard for +5% AP penetration to make 283mm feel like and hit like 305's, then choose your 2nd inspiration as Di-Rivel for +6% faster reload, Cunningham for +5% grouping accuracy, Ciliax for +5% AP damage, or Galler for +5% HE damage and you have a real War Bear on your hands with any combination of these_ . *Case in Point* Me and a fleet mate in a Division were playing Sleeping giant and as (2) T6 Scharnhorsts we were uptiered into a T7 match. We held A cap (the circle) on the left and a T7 division of a Tirpitz B, a Massachusetts, and a Hipper tried to drive us out (3) times and we dev struck the Hipper and chunked the Tirpitz and Massa down to 15% of their health left before the rest of the Blue team killed them. (3) times they pushed hard at us and (3) times we bloodied their noses so bad we chased them out of the cap. Name another T6 BB with that kind of Turtleback armor scheme, torpedo's, maneuverability, and rapid firing guns. Answer - Scharny stands alone in this regard and I say that as fan of all BB lines. The next Match our (2) Scharnhorsts destroyed a T7 Iowa and Jean Bart by driving straight at them Schlieffen style with a slight 10-15 degree offset to bounce shells and took their guns out repeatedly, chunk damaged as we closed in, and at 3km blew past them and torped them to death drive-by style. They didn't know Scharny's were capable of this kind of ability. _They know now_ . I have seen flanks of (3) T7 BB's run for the edges of a map when they see _2-3 Scharnhorsts with a full Head of Steam coming for Their Souls at 6km and closing_ . You better believe I too would get the heck out of dodge too if I saw that coming my way! The Scharnhorst is the Dick Butkus of the T6 BB's! It ain't the size of the Dog, it's the Fight in the Dog. And Scharny is as nasty as they come for a T6 BB. Underestimate her at your own risk..

Honestly people still underestimate the Scharnhorst. Even when she is bottom tier she can dish it out. Took down many T7 BBs in her and her 283s are perfect for cruisers. Great game showcasing how to use her.

Scharny is the OG battle cruiser in WOWSL (even called that in the in-game description). So it’s understandable that is slightly underpowered; but still a good ship!

Great content as always. The key is what you mentioned about isolating engagements. Basically, you want to position in such a way that you're fighting just one ship at a time, not pushing into three, four, or five enemies. I see way too many people who to the latter and then wonder why they lost. If you learn how to isolate engagements and are a reasonably competent player, you can do very well in this game. Most people never learn that skill. Even if you have a great ship, it doesn't matter if you play it poorly.

My first premium bb and still my most played ship(tho not by much anymore) I believe the key to success in this ship is shell selection

Depth and nuance are not words I would associate with the player base.

The main reload time is stupid fast. Commanders......Hipper Cunningham and iachino. I play this ship as a flank distraction. once you get the reds attention kite away...if you don't get the to bite start pushing in.

My first ever black friday box ship from the first black friday event. Its such a niche ship but she holds her own, the secondaries are great, the base reload is amazing, she slaps around cruisers, and she has to be one of the sleekest looking ship in the game. Oh and she is great money maker. Shes more vulnerable these days with the addition of all these new ships especially the long range fire breathing types but she still has a place in my most played list.

And to add my great grandfather a stoker on the HMS ardent was sadly lost at see when The ardent, acasta and glorious were found and caught by the scharny and gneisenou travelling back to Scapa flow.

The waiting for the enemy to come to you in a bb is what i use for sinop and man those guns can absolutely delete people not paying attention

Love streamers always show casing a ships ability in down tiered matches

This beautiful boy can defend a flank all by himself. Doesn't matter what tier you are, this BB will always cause the red team to pause before they engage you. With the fast reload and torpedoes they cannot solo you. Sharnhorst is always given respect and a wide berth. Only a fool will try to solo this ship.

I try not to play T6(except for Helena). It feels like 50+% of the time i get put in T7 lobbies when in a T6....ESPECIALLY in the Scharnhorst and Helena. The difference in armor from T6-T7 is too great. WG needs to add something to eliminate or significantly reduce the amount of "up teiring". Also blocking cross tier ships in a division is a must. T5 doesnt struggle nearly as bag at T6 as T6 does at T7....in my opinion.
