I e-mailed Schaeffer & asked questions. Below is the response that I received (part 1 of 2 posts): "Thank you for your interest in our product line. The million mile gasoline engine used our Schaeffer Supreme 7000 from the time it was brand new on 8,000 mile intervals. We market the Supreme 7000 for 7,000 mile intervals and the Supreme 9000 for 9,000 mile intervals in the passenger car/gasoline market. We have much more capability with extended drain intervals on our heavy duty products."

I work in the Oilfields and we run lots of fords that all we run . I was a mechanic for halliburton and I would have to do work on these 5.4 3vs and 2v trucks. Timing chains and tensioners is mainly all I did. But our trucks had over 500k on our travel trucks for employees who work on frac sites. Blew my mind on how reliable these engines are

I believe it. I've got an 07 F-150 with 201,000 miles, never had any problems whatsoever with it. I've always used Mobil 1 and switched to Schaeffer Oil this year and can already tell a difference with how much cleaner it is when I change it and how much quieter it is. Great product.

(part 2 of 2) "The engine was a 4.6 liter Ford engine and the van was used to transport prisoners around the country. From what I understand, with certain types of prisoners that they drive straight through to the destination only stopping to switch drivers. We are not sure about the brand of filter, but they did not have any extra filtration on the engine."

I use Schaeffer in everything I have. A 02 4runner with 247000 on it. A 98 Electra Glide Harley now with a 107 S&S engine with 22000 miles on the S&S. About to change a new Road Glide over to it as well. I was convinced of Schaeffer oil when I had a friend who was riding atv's with several of us one day after a big rainstorm. He sank the atv in a muddy creek. After cleaning plugs and spinning it over, it started. It had creek water in the oil from when it died and pulled it in from the exhaust. He rode it back out and did not change that oil till he made it back home. He still has that atv today. Still runs.

I have an 92 FLHTC . I used to run AMS oil 20w50, the engine was always noisy. Then 3 years ago they did something to the oil. After an hour of highway driving oil pressure dropped to practically zero at an idle. It never did that before. Since then I have talked with 5 other people who had the same oil pressure problem, I switched to VR1 and it was better. Now I am running 7000 20w50 and a Hubb reusable oil filter. I have gained 5 psi on the highway and the engine is a lot quitter . Just about 2500 rpm the only sound I hear is the exhaust.

Just because it has a million miles on it doesn't mean it hasn't had major engine or transmission work. They never discuss the maintenance records or what was done over the years. Everything looks new inside because it probably is new. Im sure Schaeffer oil is good. Most oil is good. If you change your oil regularly, the engine will last longer, but to try and sell this as though nothing has been done to this engine because it's "always had Schaeffer oil" seems like a stretch. I'd like to hear you talk about the documented maintenance to back your claims. Just my two cents

This is kind of surprising I grew up in a family who did nothing but run forwards and I have the say the 5.4 3 valve is a piece of Krapp engine. I know my truck person has gone in for the timing chain replacement 3 times at a spout do for 4th and I've only had the truck forward 2 years I'm kind of interests to see what this oil will do if it is as good as they talk about as you know the 2006 model F150 uses the oil for its timing chain tension er's and once the oil starts to lose tension as starts to lose its ability to keep the chains tight and I'll be intrested see how this does with that situation

Glenn Conner We had a 2006 Silverado at my work the service techs used to travel store to store for machine repairs. In 5 years they racked up 320,000 miles on it. Not counting Sundays that truck averaged 213 miles a day. It can be done. It was replaced in 2011 and that Silverado has 185,000 on it so far.

+Glenn Conner consider fleet vehicles do not have a single driver. if a vehicle is ran around the clock, those miles are actually low. some of ours get 180 city miles in a 12 hour shift. we run them for 2 shifts. so easy 300 miles in 24 hours. there is some downtime so its not every day, but in 2-3 years, the vehicle is trashed and replaced

Someone below has stated that schaeffer is recommending their 9000 series oil (which is full synthetic) to be changed every 9000 miles. So my question is, Amsoil is recommending their signature series to be replaced every 25,000 miles. How is schaeffer better or equivalent to amsoil then? By the way, im not an amsoil fan. Im on the fence deciding which oil to use on my new car (either schaeffer 9k or amsoil signature series) and plan to run each 10k miles (city drive) and have each one tested by blackstone labs, and then compare the results and be convinced by the numbers instead of “people’s OPINIONS”

25k miles between oil changes just seems excessive. I'm sure that the synthetic oil itself will remain effective for even longer, but the issue is contaminants from the engine. And even the cleanest burning engine will dirty up engine oil far before 25k miles. I personally wouldn't go past 10k miles- max, on any oil change. And that seems like its pushing it. My 2 pesos. Cheers

I had a 1979 Datsun 210 coupe it had regular Penzoil put in it, by a mechanic when there was AMSOIL in there that had only 2,000 miles on it. Well up in Nevada in a small town called CALIENTE we had snow and during the morning when I went to go start it up, it would take 5 cranks before it started. Now 1 month later I go and get ASMOIL in the engine. There is still snow on the ground, it has been a week since I put oil in it, so I go to start the engine and it cranks over once and starts I was like wait a minute WTH so I shut it down and start it up one crank boom starts so that is when I became a fan of AMSOIL. I have never heard of a Million mile engine not rebuilt looking new and having very little wear on the engine just amazing 😲

You can call BS like other folks and keep replacing engine parts. I myself was a skeptic but I tried it ends up its cheaper in the long run as you can safely run 7000 miles on there blend oil without sending it into the oil lab and on there full syn you can go 9000 miles. I run it in everything but wet clutch atv it will make the wet clutches slip. I have a 4.6L triton and never had the engine apart for anything and it runs like new no valve noise or timing chain noise this oil is in a class all of its own and I will never run anything else for one its cheaper as you don't have to change it every few thousand mile and most engines show a increase in fuel milage so that saves you money the oil pays for its self and the engine not wearing out is just an added bonus and no I'm not paid by schaeffer's. Note if you are running a sludge builder oil I won't mention the names but this oil cleans that sludge out and you may have to change your filter and even oil sooner on your 1st change if the oil turn black it needs changed. This oil runs clean my truck even after the oil has been in there 5k miles is still green in color as it is when you pour it out of the bottle and clear enough that you can see the writing on the dipstick threw the oil. This oil even stays clean in diesels for a long time. Most folks that sell this oil also have sample packs to send your oil into the lab to see how long you can run it in your engine some folks are running it 12-15k i personally like to just change it at the 7k so it stays clean and that gets the filter changed as well. I have seen the normal price of the blend from $6.50- $15 per quart even lower if the person it just trying to sell volume of the oil at or near cost. That figures out on the low end price to $3.25 per quart if you only doubled you oil change miles compared to your off the box store shelf oil so I don't know about you but I would not run off the shelf oil that cost $3.25 /qt in any engine even if I hated the engine LOL !

***** we shall see :) I know my ICE car has done pretty well over the last spirited 100,000 miles, but it's required a lot of maintenance, including a timing belt change, a water pump replacement, a rotor replacement, injector cleaning, injector o-ring replacement, cracked headers, oxygen sensor replacement, catalytic converter replacement, exhaust welding for leaks (despite being made of 300 series stainless steel), numerous oil and filter changes, and air filter maintenance. I'm sure that vacuum cleaner sealed bearings are relatively cheap compared to what an automotive company might produce. And a 500 mile Li Ion battery pack, assuming no cell failures, will maintain a 300 mile range over a period of about a million miles. Battery costs are falling at a rate of about 10% per year. If that continues, then a 500 mile battery pack (on a heavy, large tesla, mind you) would cost 5K in less than 25 years. Couple that with reduced 'fuel' costs, and I think we might be seeing electric vehicles be the cheap, smart choice in two decades. Tesla has stated quite firmly that their goal is a 1,000,000 mile power train, btw

Electric vehicles are going to require more expertise to diagnose and fix. Not to mention they'll be impossible to source affordable parts. (especially as used parts will be nearly non existent) there is no real upside other than less demand for hydrocarbons & the motive for all of it is not global warming. Just an FYI.

This van would have never been parked, and been on the road all the time. Its just to clean inside. I'm pretty sure Ford themselves would like to see this. How did they keep it from blowing out plugs in that million miles. This oil is hard as all hell to find.

It wouldn't even make it 200k without rebuild. If your fine with A to B car, go right head pick engine like that. If your counting weight to power ratio and want make the most power. There no oil that going to stop engine from breaking down from heat and wear. Foxler of Furry Fandom and Porsche Club of America
