It would, but only for non-creature spells. Gerry would be looking to cast mostly creatures if he got his Omniscience in play (i.e. Emrakul and Griselbrand). PS. I know this response was a bit late.

Game two, why didn't he just block Griselbrand with his Emrakul?? If he does his opponent does not get an extra look at seven cards. And it's not like his opponent is playing combat tricks on his deck :D

I meant around 9:50 when Gerry attacks with griselbrand, the Emrakul could have blocked. Seemed like a pretty save block.

  • @Mentir42

He would gain 7 life, yes, but griselbrand would die due to state based action, so Gerry could not use it to draw more cards, despite having gained the live.

+ben northfield Gerry is playing a deck that has the goal of cheating incredibly good creatures into play via two cards: Show and Tell and Hypergenesis. Show and Tell is a three mana sorcery that allows each player to put one creature, artifact, enchantment, or land into play. Hypergenesis is a card that allows players to put any number or creatures, lands, arifacts, or enchantments into play until both players have no cards to play, or simply want to stop playing cards. Hypergenesis has no mana cost, and is typically only cast with it's suspend cost. However, the card Violent Outburst, which has cascade and costs three mana, can cascade into the Hypergenesis, which remember has no mana cost, and therefore has 0 CMC. The first match Gerry successfully cheated in Emrakul, and Andrew had no way to answer it, and conceded. Andrew sideboarded in his own Emrakul, exclusively for the purpose of cheating it into play when Gerry casts a card like Show and Tell or Hypergenesis. The second game Andrew kept a hand with one land because it contained Emrakul, which was really all he needed to win. So Gerry used Hypergenesis, cheated out Griselbrand, but then Andrew cheated out Emrakul along with some other creatures and an artifact, but Emrakul was what really won him that game, so Gerry conceded. The same thing happened in game three, except both Gerry and Andrew mulliganed until they had a hand they wanted. Gerry had his Show and Tell and Emrakul. Andrew had his Emrakul. Gerry casts Show and Tell, cheating out Emrakul, and Andrew also cheats out Emrakul. However, since Andrew would go second, his Emrakul no longer had summoning sickness, and could swing in. Gerry played out the match for a minute more, seeing if he could draw some sort of answer, but there was almost nothing he could draw, conceded, and that was the match. One great example of how sometimes Magic doesn't even need to be played to win.

I don't get it, what happened here? Why did he get to put his whole hand into play? Shouldn't the fact that Gerrry didn't put anythng into play finish the Hypergenesis effect?
