I'm a Scentsy rep in Canada, just started selling last fall because I love their scents! I have about 6 warmers and I love them all....BUT, I did purchase a Wal-Mart Scent Sationals warmer last week in order to do a comparison. The old Wal-Mart warmer I had used a halogen type bulb that got really hot! I noticed the newer Scent Sationals warmers used the same wattage/types of bulbs as Scentsy. I have been using both brands daily for a week now, running them for the same time and using the same Scentsy wax scent in each. Have to say, the Scent Sationals is performing just as well as the Scentsy warmer. BUT, here's the tipping point...in Canada the Nova warmer from Scentsy is $66 Plus tax AND shipping. The Scent Sationals warmer that is exactly the same shape but smokey black/grey in design (same wattage bulb) was only $22.97 plus tax NO shipping. So...I could buy 3 from Wal-Mart for less than the cost of 1 Scentsy. Which is why I have a hard time selling warmers to customers. The price of the Scentsy warmers is just too high. I still love their wax, haven't found a better quality or scent selection for wax yet...plus I do love Scentsy's other lines, especially laundry! So I will continue to be a Scentsy lover/user but will only buy warmers that go on sale at a decent discount.

Glad to see a different kind of review! My husband is an industrial electrician and he gives thumbs up to Scentsy warmers. He decided to take a few warmers apart. He basically thinks Walmart warmers are a pos...maybe like buying a 100 pc tool set for $9.99 🙂. I spend more but I know where it’s made, how it’s made & I support that. Peace of mind. ❤️

I am a recent Scentsy and wax convert, having always been a traditional candle fan. It wasn’t until we redid some rooms in our house that I saw what a mess the candles were making. Unfortunately, I started on the lower end of the wax spectrum and was about to throw in the towel until I discovered Scentsy. This video really does prove you get what you pay for. I’ve always been about quality over quantity so I’ve bought Scentsy warmers that can be out all year long vs. the more seasonal ones to start out and can slowly add to my collection. The wax has convinced me I’m not “settling” by letting go of my candles and my freshly painted (clean) walls are grateful too! The only other wax I still use is from Goose Creek Candles - just under Scentsy quality with some really unique scents. Thanks Lisa for the always informative videos especially when you’re new to the world of wax.

Thank you for the update! Your information was fair and relevant. Seems it’s pretty simply a matter of getting what you pay for, right? I remember back in the day we used a votive candle to heat the wax and it was an ongoing and annoying process. But as usual, you’ve come across clear and concise! Thanks for doing the legwork on something most of us are curious about!

Lisa Rowberry, your viewers are obviously Scentsy lovers like I since it’s the season they watch your videos, a lot also buy Walmart for the reason of it being affordable, not everyone can afford to buy only Scentsy warmers and wax with it being 3 times the price plus shipping, it’s insensitive to make a comparison when they can see for them selves the quality and performance....Walmart warmers and wax work just fine why compare?

I buy Scentsy mostly for the scents and I have a good friend that sells it and I like to support her. But it is pricey! Especially for the warmers! $50 and up is NOT in my budget for a warmer. If I want a cute seasonal warmer, I tend to get those from Walmart because of the price. If they end up not working or breaking for whatever reason, at least I only spent $15. The Walmart wax is cheap and I don't really care because they have some good scents. The Farm Apple Pumpkin is a dupe for Scentsy's Cider Mill, it's two dollars. Though honestly, I buy both every fall. I also love the hot plate style warmers from Candle Warmers when I don't want light from my warmer at night. Those are about $20, good quality and work with any wax that I put in them, Scentsy, indie vendor, and Walmart wax. I never leave any warmers on when I'm not home, even the one Scentsy one I do have (the Alex's Lemonade Stand one) and It just rubs me the wrong way when a Scentsy consultant tells you that a Walmart warmer is a fire hazard. Well, so is your toaster, hair dryer, and anything else you plug in. Just my two cents. I will continue to support my friend and buy Scentsy from her, but no one is going to convince me to use Scentsy wax and warmers exclusively when there are good quality, less expensive options out there!

I have both and use both but they are no way on the same level, My walmart one gets so hot it burns me within a short time on my scebtsy one can be on all day and stays warm not hot, my scentsy one I bought SEVEN years ago and is still perfect even with the same 7 year old light bulb, I use my walmart one and enjoy it but its not anywhere near as nice as my scentsy one. Walmart waxes are not my cup of tea if anything I could go by and use a walmart warmer but will always use scentsy waxes for sure.

I prefer Scentsy but I will buy other wax locally on occasion purely for the ease of access and cost. Even though the quality may not be there, sometimes it is just nice to be able to shop and have it in my home in one day instead of having to guess if I'll like a fragrance and then have to wait a week to get it and pay for shipping.

Awesome comparison. I am also a Scentsy consultant. I have owned many different fragrance type items. Scentsy is my preference as well. All about personal choice. I have a couple small, wall style Walmart warmers that were given to me as gifts. I also have a few yankee warmers. They are all nice, however, Scentsy warmers are so well made and there are so many choices. And I like the fact the wax is food grade. Love your videos! Your energy is amazing!

Another great video Lisa! A HUGE part of why I like Scentsy more than mass brand store warmers and wax is the REMOVAL of the wax. With Scentsy, it's so easy. It comes out in one solid puck and is so easy to get out of your warmer. Have you ever tried to remove the wax from another brand's warmers? It's a nightmare. You simply cannot get them out cold and hot is a huge mission too. Also, the temperature of the warmers and the wax is a dealbreaker for me because if theyre getting that hot, theyre just scorching the fragrance inside. I think I have tried every brand on the planet. Scentsy just outperforms all others and I'm not a consultant. Just a diehard.

It is unattractive when lit and so bright like florescent light. I gave it away. I love scentsy but I try all types of warmers and I don't think they're the best out there. The wax is what keeps me coming back. I really love your videos I've seen everyone but this one is my least favorite. But I'm a fan. Just being honest. Happy New Year 😁

It is a toss up for me on who wins on wax vs warmers. For Scentsy, if you only use Scentsy wax, then it works since it's tested for that. But I use mostly vendor wax, and Scentsy warmers rarely performs well with those. Which is why Scentsy warmers have a bad rap in the vendor wax community. Nonetheless, I appreciate the craftmanship & out of the box uniqueness with Scentsy warmers. An outstanding Scentsy warmer is the Accord hot plate. That one performs as good as my favorite wax warmer brands - Candle Warmers, Etc. and Pink Zebra. An equally outstanding Walmart warmer is the Scentsationals Mosaic Royal Plume warmer. Stunning, petite, and throws like a champ! Try Pink Sugar Berry or Orange Buttercream wax melts...I think it's by BHGardens. Thanks for the updated views:)

They need a hotter plate/ warmer... which also makes the wax more of a danger, along with the warmer being that they will obviously both get warmer to the touch. Does that mean they aren't good? Of course not. Depending on your circumstances at home (kids, pets, e.t.c), that's a big deal.

Oh thank heaven I'm not the only one who feels the same about Walmart wax!! I tried it for shits and giggles😊 I got about 2 hours out of the Walmart wax,it's throw was non existent and the clean up was aweful! I use the cotton ball method to change out my scentsy wax ...I tried it with Walmart wax,it didn't absorb the wax...I'm used to my scentsy wax being sucked up like a sponge quick, easy clean up,pop in more wax ,done...the Walmart wax was a lot more labor intensive... I also dislike getting Walmart wax all over my manicure which doesn't happen with Scentsy wax using the cotton ball method ....I also store my Scentsy warmers back in their original boxes in big clear Rubbermaid tubs ...when I'm looking for a warmer all I need to do is slide one of my warmer tubs off the shelf and scan through it to find the one I'm looking for ,the picture of the warmer on the scentsy box makes it easy to find and the original box with the packaging keeps them safe... the most important part is I come from a long line of professional firefighters and police officers in my family ....they don't approve of fire hazards...when they come to visit they will point things out ...like my curtains are to long ,they're to close to your electric heat, your couch is to close to the wall / heat source, they even ask if my propane is shut off on my gass grill ( it always is, I turn the tank off while the grill is still on to burn the gas out of the line as well,)They check to see if I have smoke detectors in every room and ask when I did my last battery change (I change my batteries with every time change spring/ fall)candles are a big no no and so are Walmart warmers but they are okay with my mass amounts of Scentsy warmers all over my home...to have my fire fighter families approval on scentsy warmers speaks volumes..,they do this out of love, they want to make sure I'm safe ....even though I'm usually on top of things they will never stop checking my house for fire safety ...I'm ok with that especially on the off chance that they catch something I missed ..they've seen a lot of people loose everything they own over the smallest things that could have been avoided....like a burning candle left unattended...I love my family,I love my scentsy..... I'm a Scentsy customer for life!

Room size, open concept vs bedroom/office can make a huge difference as well. I prefer Scentsy but I think they are so pricey that lots of people won’t even consider them. Also, let’s be honest, some Scentsy consultants drive people insane with their “sales pitch”. I’m sure you aren’t that way but there are a lot of pushy sales people out there. I love your videos and watch every one of them.

I know exactly what you are talking about with the whole sales pitch thing when dealing with a consultant so I can absolutely see why some people may prefer walking into a store to purchase their wax and warmers so they don’t have to deal with that exact thing. I am a lover of all things home fragrance and thought this would be a fun video to do. I find comparison videos to be entertaining so I hope that’s how this is taken and not taken the wrong way. I have 4 scentsy warmers they are all full sized and I also have a couple of Walmart warmers that are element warmers. Haven’t tried the regular warmer from Walmart but I can say this. The element warmer from Walmart is far cheaper and works a lot better. It doesn’t matter how cold your room is like it dose when using scentsy warmers. And there are a lot of different wax you can use because it’s not a low temp warmer like scentsy. So.. that being said if you like smooth light scent and some pretty cool looking warmers go with scentsy. If you like a good solid scent going at a low price go with a element warmer for about 15$ I like them both so it’s just an honest opinion.

In all wax groups, all the posts about their warmers smoking or charring or turning black where the cords connect are the cheaper Walmart warmers, I’ve never seen a Scentsy warmer do that. The scents from the stores dont last as long also a small variety/ the scents are pretty basic I feel. I have a mix of warmers, Scentsy, Yankee Scenterpiece and Walmart. I use all. I melt all wax cubes in my Scenterpiece & Scentsy warmers, but I have to use Walmart warmers for my vendor wax. A hotter warmer is needed, so it's a positive Walmart has hotter warmers. I do like Scentsy scents and buy monthly, but Walmart and vendor wax definitely have far more selection and better price. Walmart has many scents, but vendors win with selection over everyone. Some vendors have like 700 scents for sale year round. i only buy from vendors who sell constantly though. I can't handle the restock rush some vendors require to buy from them. Strength, I like it strong, but I change wax very frequently so don't mind changing it every day.

great review. I only have better homes and garden warmers personally. I have a scentsy mini hoot and a couple scentsy holiday warmers in the large/standard size. I prefer the element warmers from better homes and gardens bc my hubs doesn't turn those off & they also double as a candle warmer. I did just replace my sons lighthouse warmer with a better homes & garden warmer with a timer. I am looking forward to any new scentsy element warmers in 2023/2023 year. I get good throw out of the better homes and gardens. Gonna look to see if you have a comparison video with BHG. The wax generally always end up smelling funky at some point. So I no longer by the walmart wax very often. It is my personal opinion as a consumer that scentsy wax is far superior to other products available that I have found in wax. The warmers themselves are also great but one could be just fine without a scentsy warmer. One should NOT live without the wax though. When you find a wax you love make sure you put it in your club!!!! don't have a club make sure to create one.

Hi Lisa, I have had both Scentsy & Walmart warmers/wax and never really thought that they were much difference, I noticed the refill bulbs at Walmart are the same wattage as Scentsy, so never really understood Scentsy's claim with how they don't get as hot. I know there are many factors in place though. I find many Walmart scents great & super reasonable but they don't last more than a day. However, I recently bought Twinkle from Scentsy and had Happy Birthday going (my favorite). In the other room, I had a hot plate warmer going with Walmart wax. When I went to clean them both up a couple days later, I noticed I could touch the Scentsy warmer and my finger got into the wax. No burn at all. I burnt myself of the hot plate one. I could barely stand to just grab the wax soaked cotton balls, I know light bulb vs hot plate isn't apples too apples but both 25 watts. I have kitties and if they got any wax spilled on the,, I would cry if it burned them. I don't think you came across bias. U stated pros/cons of each. Thanks for the video. I don't always want to spend $50 on a warmer and sometimes Walmart wax is readily available plus cheap but I am learning.

Sorry to be responding to a 3-year-old post but I just wanted to clarify something about wattage versus heat. Yes in general as the wattage goes up you would expect the heat of a bulb to go up (it does) and therefore you would assume that if they are the same wattage they would give off the same heat but this simply is not always true. The wattage = how much power you need to power the bulb; but the design and the efficiency of the filament, material/opacity of the bulb itself, and the design the electrical portion of the warmer are all going to have an effect on its efficiency. Whatever wattage that is not being used to convert to light (lumens) is left over wattage and that converts to heat. The Scentsy design is better, making their bulbs simply more efficient and uses more of the wattage for light. Therefore there is less wattage left over to convert to heat, and the unit stays cooler. It makes you wonder about the other warmers when they show the wattage and they get so hot they're actually less efficient and only using some of that wattage for light. I bet you they have a lower lumens output since there's so much converted to heat

Have you tried scentsy wax in your Walmart warmer? I bet the scent will vanish just as fast. I noticed it with my glade hot plate. It gave a good throw then the scent vanished. I think the heat from the warmers kill the scent

When they burn hotter, they definitely go through the oils in the wax faster. So you're correct, even a wax in the same class as Scentsy, with typically 40% more oils in the wax, will fizzle out faster when warming at a higher temperature.

I buy some Scentsy warmers for night lights only because they don't throw worth a darn. 😄 Yes, they are pretty but I need warmers that perform and have a great throw, so my go-to⁰ warmers for that are my Candle Warmers. My Candle Warmers blow Scentsy out of the water! Now, my prettiest warmer is the Sensationals Lemonade warmer and it performs like a champ. Also, I've tried plenty of Scentsy wax and to me it smells cheap and is weak. I like Walmart wax but my favorite wax is by far vendor wax. If I had to spend my money on either Scentsy or Walmart wax I would always choose Walmart because you get 3 times more for your money and better performance. And as far as needing a consultant for instructions on what to do with my warmer I feel that's a weak arguement because what instruction do you actually need other then plug your warmer in and place the wax in the dish.🤣 Also, I've never had a Walmart warmer break on me but I have recently purchased the "Frosty" warmer from Scentsy and it arrived defective. Now I have to wait on a replacement where as if it were a Walmart warmer I would have a replacement by now with just a quick drive to the store. 🤷‍♀️

I have the classic in matte black and the wax doesn't pool completely and it doesn't warm the wax enough to get a decent throw, so I've never bought another one. With that being said I 100% agree that you can't compare the wax. I'm in a FB group where they talk about switching their scents out 2 to 3 times a day and I was baffled until I bought a few bars from walmart and then it all made sense. I would say that even if you go with the more economical warmers, the wax is hands down also more economical when you consider how often you have to change the wax out.... and seriously, whose trying to change wax multiple times a day? I hate doing it 1-2 times a week with Scentsy lol

The things that scentsy has over BH&G are a greater varity of more complex and unique scents and the ability to unify a scent through multiple products. Thank you for the video. I am a total Scentsy user, to me there is a definite difference. Scentsy is more money up front, but in the long haul-it's really not. My wax lasts 5 days or longer, depending on the fragrance, it burns for 12-14 hours each day. With the less expensive waxes they lose the fragrance a lot quicker and I smell that "old wax" smell..I hate changing wax on ANY warmer. The Walmart warmer just looked cheap in quality (not design) it had such thin flawed glass, the Scentsy warmers glass looked much more substantial/thicker. As soon as you lit the Walmart warmer you could see all the defects in the glass. I am super picky-no matter what amount of money I spend-I want the product in pristine condition. A comparison is showing the DIFFERENCES of the subject matter. I really like comparison videos because they are educational or they just reconfirm what I already know. I was less then 4 minutes into this video and my first impression of the Walmart warmer was: Cheap and fugly. I don't think I would have even have spent the $18 for it. I am a Scentsy Snob. Sorry, not sorry. It's like the saying goes, "You get what you pay for."
