    Wouldn't the combined mass/gravity of asteroids act like a planet?

  • @terrabuilder

    @terrabuilder

    2 жыл бұрын

    It is plausible that the asteroid belt was a planet, and somehow broke up slowly somewhat over the time it took to orbit the sun. Some of its mass was lost over time due to collisions, and became rogues, scattered about in different directions, and threatening other planets. All which means it would rather difficult to estimate what it’s mass was before the breakup. We can only conjecture the time of its breakup as well as its lost mass.

    So Space Facts that will do what to me? I try to stay on top of space news and to my knowledge, planet 9 is still a theory and NOT a fact. If the space community had found it,, the news would be going crazy. September 23, 1846 was the last time a planet was discovered. The name.of the planet is Neptune. Pluto could have had this title in February 18, 1930. But considering that its not classified as a planet, Neptune hold that record.
