Distant lands is exactly what i wanted it to be. They didn't try and bring in some huge new conflict after we've already said goodbye to the series. They did everything cartoon network wouldn't let them in this and it just feels like something of a victory lap for the series. They just gave us something that feels good.

I WANT A ENTIRE SERIES OF PB AND MARCELINE BEING ADORABLE AND BADASS, *AND I WANT IT NOW*

If lightning strikes in a desert, it leaves a chunk of glass where it struck because the heat instantly melts the sand in to glass. And I'm guessing that the wasteland has sand in it, so that explains the kingdom being formed by a magical thunder bolt.

Death said that he would die after he stops using the crown but his GF crown wish was to keep Simon save I think a by product of her wish was not only the fusion but also making him immortal.

idk simon might be immortal since he hasn't seemed to age since he reverted unlike finn but when he was dying it was because the crown lost the magic needed to sustain his ice king form which made his body dependant on its magic over the 1000 or so years which also is entirely different from him being reversed to normal through golb's stomach that reverts all things to their original state so maybe he didn't die because of how golb reversed him to his original state and didn't drain something vital to him?

The dragon that let out the "glassassassins" is a mother. The dragon was living in a furnace that the glass people were using to fix themselves so I think the dragon fussed with the glass, and that is also the reason why it is stretchy. You can also see this by the babies hatching when the mother does as well. And the dude said that he used his children as a food source and he is still alive....

Honestly, I sided with PB a bit more in this special. She was just trying to help these glass people, and Marceline literally said to let them shatter.

@@privatehere3324 Exactly. Everyone is always like, "Oh Marceline is the best!" And I love Marcy but PB is so underdeveloped. In fact, one of my favorite episodes was Varmints, and who gets the development there? Bonnie Bubblegum herself. I rest my case.

I'm disappointed everyone feels the need to argue the validity of their origin when it's literally just a reference to NEPTR's origin just with sand to make glass people.

In answer to simons age: Betty-golb. Her last wish was to keep Simon safe, and there was an episode where they literally had to run away from death. She’s using all that dank chaos energy to keep him around. Makes me wonder if he’s as immortal as PB and Marcy

Magic lightning hitting the wasteland the wasteland is made of sand right yea. Sand melts into glass. Lightning is hot. So I’m guessing the lightning hit the wasteland turning it into glass and because it’s magic it effected the glass and created the structure that is the glass kingdom Idk maby

Mabey the "Magic Lightning" is actaly just radiation of the nucular bomb making it hot and radiating the glass making it alive

I would like to see a video on how obsidian addresses trauma.

He can streatch beacaus he is made out of LAVA! And after he gets out of the shell he can't anymore.

Here is my theory about the Larvo “stretching power”. Due to the fact Larvo lived in the volcano, and his surroundings is full with lava. I think he could have absorb all of those lava in order to stretch out his limbs Like in SU, when Lapis was surrounded with water like the ocean or a small pond, she would absorbed it to make her stronger. (Edit): Except she gave the water back to where it belong

No,since Moto Larvo is made of glass and has been heated it is made of molten glass (hence his name,Moto Larvo)whichis very malleable which is worked into glass pieces and such.

I chose to think Simon will live forever because of the wish Betty made to keep him safe

Why is the video mirrored? Also most people think that since Betty is golb now she might be keeping Simon alive

Obsidian was the best special ever. It really had development in Marceline. We looked deeper into her past and the relationship with her mother. She wanted to keep Marceline safe and after what happen with the Wolf monster Elise worried that Marceline will react the same way. I think this relates Marceline to Rick Sanchez. Rick also suffered the loss of his wife Diane. He didn't really talk about as much as Marcy did. Bubblegum had some moments as well. We learned that she tries both royal and scientific ways to prove to the Glass Kingdom that she can be helpful to them as much as Marcy was a long time ago. Marceline and Princess Bubblegum's relationship was really held strong the song Monster was really heartwarming. This special reminds me why Marceline is my favorite character on the show.

Simon’s girlfriend’s wish with the crown before she was going to die was to do anything to keep Simon alive. Maybe she wants Simon to live as long as she will.

I doubt larvo is related to jake tho. He is not a "fire dragon", but rather some sort of mutant salamander. They spawn and pass through methamorphosis just like other amphibians like frogs, but salamanders are also commonly associated with lava and magma in media and storytelling, and often they are found to literally be made of lava. Larvo becomes obsidian at the end, wich is also a magmatic rock. It is safe to assume his stretching is a result of the fluidity of his body, made (if not all, at least in parts) of magma.

Yo that idea about parvo being a descendant of that alien...didn't even think of that. Love it. Also the only issue I had about this episode was the fact they brought up the volcano fixing cracks but didn't bother using it later like no one needed to know that if you weren't gonna use it. Glass boy could've had another reason to enter the cave.

Largo is also like the glasstles unwarranted version of neddie in the belly of the candy kingdom. However my first thought was that he reminded me of the fudge spitting giant banana sloth that uncle Gumbald made with candy tech. I hadn't thought of the Jake resemblance, but that's a good string to tac up there too!

About the lightening bolt thing, I have a feeling that it’s probably a reference to the crazy formations of super heated sand that can be left behind by lightening strikes in deserts.

I really enjoyed seeing flashbacks of Marcy and her mom. I just wish we could know how Elise met Hudson Abadeer and made a baby. I wonder if she even fully realized he was a demon? Or maybe she made a deal with him for some reason and accidentally got pregnant? I'd love to watch theories on that. Also, I loved seeing Simon return. His story slowly being revealed and his relationship with Marcy was one of the main engagement points for me and I was super excited when he retained his memories in the finale. Seeing him coping and living life moved on from Betty was heartwarming and heqrtwrenching. Good to see he and Marceline seemed to have kept a good relationship after all that time too. I love Obsidian. A must watch for any fan of this amazing cartoon.

Bepis Pepsi Well, to be fair, if they did that to SU, they would probably wait another 2 years. Adventure Time ended in 2018, and Distant Lands was in 2020. I would assume if they did that to SU it would be 2022, considering it ended in 2020.

Ik this is late but i think betty glob is protecting simon from dying or aging which basically means he cant die, of course he can still feel pain and isnt super powerful

The magic lightning bolt isn’t that far fetched when you think about fulgurites, which is what occurs when lightning hits sand. If the sand that was hit had some of that mushroom bomb ooze in it, that might’ve caused the first glass people to form

I am very late to this comment section, but my theory as to why Simon hasn’t aged is that Betty’s wish for the power to “keep Simon safe” which fused her with Golb (AKA the embodiment of discord and entropy) allowing her to do exactly what she wanted. Betty is keeping her powers from effecting Simon in any way, keeping him as safe has he can possibly be. (p.s. During your first distant lands video you said that you don’t think it’s likely that the moon next to Mars was just hidden on the other side of the planet, but in concept art for the episode “astral plane” you can see that the moon is hidden behind Mars)

Take this as a negative or positive comment or however you view it, I stopped watching adventure time after a certain group of people kept on harassing and influencing the creators same group of people that did it to the legend of Korra. So I don't really watch it anymore along with a lot of other old fans, whomever this show is appealing to now statically the ratings are not as good as what they were doing before and I hope studios and creators understand this, but hey maybe they have those people inside the workroom too, either way, they have plenty of time to work its old magic again. Or maybe it will flop and burn due to poor viewer rates. I liked the show, I didn't like some of the directions or choices. I leave this comment as a critique using no profanty for which I loved where the show was at before ending and hated where this show went.

@@privatehere3324 That's a bit harsh. There was a lot going on behind the scenes, and the higher-ups messed with the story a lot. They kept telling her to add filler episodes so they could re-air them without needing to do it in order. In fact, in a DVD commentary, she said that she had a whole space adventure planned that would have ended in a huge reveal... then the executives said no, so she had to quickly give stevonnie the vision at the end of lars of the stars. So seeing Rebecca's story without interference would actually fix said problems. Though I agree on being burned out, if anything, I would just worry that HBO would screw her over in some other way.
