Scarpa Trek GTX Boots | Long Term Review

A long term look at my Scarpa Trek GTX leather hiking boots.
this video was filmed a year ago but I had misplaced the footage.
Everything said in this video still holds true. I still wear the boots all the time and they are still going strong, they are around 2 years old now and I love them.
But as stated in the video , go and get your feet measured at the shop and get the right fit for your type of foot. I bought mine at Cotswold outdoors and the level of service was excellent.
it was money well spent.

Hey guys, I found this film on an old hard drive. I forgot I’d filmed it.. latest update, it’s been another 6 months and I still love my boots!! 😁

I have these same boots and can’t imagine how a boot could be any better for what its suited for. It’s like wearing two cushions around your feet surrounded by a protective shell. I feel more rugged and comfy, wonderful boot.

Excellent quality review of an excellent quality boot. I have been wearing Scarpa boots for about 30 years and are my mainstay of trekking boot. I have broad feet and find with the right size choice they are total comfort. I bought a pair of mid-weights last week, a pair of Cyrus Mid GTX and have done just wearing in 10 miles or so. You look after your boots very well, showing me up! Your boots looked good out in the Brecons the other week :) Good video, thanks for sharing. W :)

I did clean and dubbin them the day before we went, just for added waterproofing.. usually I go months between cleaning them up sessions. I was hesitant about shelling out £200 for boots but I absolutely love them!

I recently bought the ranger version, done about 30+ miles in them and not broke in yet, still uncomfy despite fitting fine. I'm sure they will give in eventually! In the mean time I'm wearing my Scarpa Mistral's, instantly comfy out of the box 😁

Thanks for that. I've been thinking about these boots. My current boots are the Lowa renegade GTX, which are great, but have stretched a lot and I now need an insole with them.

I didn't go to buy any particular type, I just let the guy in the shop advise me, he brought me 3 pairs that suited my feet. I forget the other brands now, but these were the most comfortable and I've not regretted it since.

My first ever hiking boot was a pair of Scarpa circa 1978. I've had to cut the toes off now because child size twelve doesn't match adult size twelve so they do leak... To be honest I was sad to grow out of them they were probably the best boots I've ever owned.

Those boots are magnificent. They remind me of an astronaut's suit, completely self-contained. I have a story:: in 1975 I bought a pair of expensive Danner leather boots, much like the Scarpas, but without the rubber oversole. I immediately treated the leather with SnoSeal, which is a beeswax treatment. They never leaked, never, after many rough miles. Believe it or not, I tossed them out in 2012, after a bout with cancer where I forgot about them and they were immersed completely in water for months, causing irreversible rot to the leather inners. I had them re-soled with the original Vibram in 1995. So, moral of the story...I recommend SnoSeal. LOL...I still go on short hikes now, but I wear US Army Goretex combat boots, which are terrific, too. I wish you many miles and dry socks to you in these! :)

'Buy once -cry once' They're a quality boot, if you spend decent coin, you get a decent product. Lookin' cool & saving pennies is fine until you've got wet feet....again! Top tip with the 2 pairs of socks😎👍, anyone who's Para or RMC will say the same, '2 sock combo to avoid the blisters'👍

Dan👍👍 Nice selection the Scarpa boots, never tried a pair myself but understand they're quality. I've used Vasque boots over the years for most of my outdoor needs, but they're not what they used to be. Seems like the major boot manufacturers have seen fit to copy Nike's thinkology..."make em look cool and people will buy them". Glad your boots are holding up. I'm in the market for a new pair, now which cool looking boots should I buy?

This review is helpful and persuades me that I'm looking at the right boot. But I'm in France and you cannot get the ordinary leather version - just the one with the suede finish. Is there any significant difference in the permeability of suede finish versus smooth leather? Intuitively it feels like a suede finish is going to soak more easily.

  • @CampLifeBushcraft

    @CampLifeBushcraft

    Жыл бұрын

I'm not 100% but it seems to me the suede would need more regular treatment as the very least.
