Scarlatti Sonata in C major K.95 - P. Barton, piano
Музыка
⬇READ MORE BELOW⬇ In this recording I used the resonance position of the 4th harmonic pedal invented by Denis de La Rochefordière. I choose to play the left hand in staccato as the resonance position of the harmonic pedal allows controllable sympathetic resonance on staccato notes for the first time in the piano's evolution. The traditional damper pedal can cause blurring and as a result many pianists feel the new clear sound of sympathetic resonance made possible by the new harmonic pedal is the long-awaited musical solution for baroque keyboard music interpreted on the modern piano.

This afternoon I was thinking about a lovely short piece to learn by Scarlatti and here this piece shows up into my life!
I played this for Certificate Of Merit last week (level 5), and I got into the honors recital :)

@The Moonella the people who get invited to the Honor's Recital are the people who, according to their judge, played exceptionally well for their Certificate of Merit evaluation. And also score over 90% on the written portion. I could be wrong, but I remember hearing that only about 15-30 people in my county (not sure if it applies to every county) are chosen to perform in that recital, so it takes exceptional playing and knowledge on theory. If you google "certificate of merit for piano," you can find more information from there. 🙂

Bravíssimo ! Bela execução ... Abraço ...
What a fabulous performance. It's like being present at an autopsy. So that's how it was done!
Beautiful trills!

Yes, it'll sound like a lullaby if you add pedals to it and play it a little slower.
Very nice. Scarlatti Sonatas are amazing music, thank you Paul for posting this. I'd like to make a request. Do you play Villa Lobos? If so, can you make a video playing it?? Thanks :)
Would you please make tutorial video on Clement Doucet's Chopinata ?
I’m learning this piece. I’m having trouble with the b flat trill using my 2nd and 3rd finger. I have no trouble with any other trills. Are you using different fingering? It’s so fast on the video I can’t discern it.

relax that wrist. Took a lot of effort from me. Do it in super slow motion with a super relaxed wrist. I used to struggle with it, but nail it every time now.
That works very well indeed - great sound form the 'Harmonic Pedal. I wonder which other pieces from the Baroque would make ideal demonstrations?
Brava
just good :-]
this is so cute❤
Gooood JOb!!! very good! please the link is empty , please possible send ,me the pfd? all the best
When performing this piece, I play the repeats without the hands crossing over; with the right and left hands alternating on the accompaniment. After all, why play it the same way twice?
Hey Paul! This edition you have seems to be completely different than mine (same OP. number). I like how your edition adds the additional notes before the trill. Do you think that was some clever editing or Scarlatti's original intent? I'm wondering if I should modify how I'm playing mine (using more simple trill/turn)
Amazing! Nice view too (with sheetmusic). How long did you master this piece if you don't mind?

Scarlatti did give more than most to classical music, so in a sense that's where Mozart perhaps gained it.

Albérto Einstein yes omgggg😂
One of his most unusual sonatas. I can barely hear the Scarlatti vibe in this sonata.
This reminds me of magic flute-
handel - chaconne in G major please :)
There are at least two places in this sonata performance where your playing does not match the text. You play a GE chord at 0:37 and then in the text at 0:42 you play again GE but the text is written as "EC". At 1:08, the written note is a "C" but you play it as a "B". I assume that you made these corrections because the text you followed is incorrect. These changes of course are repeated in the replaying of the two parts --Is that right?

That is right according to the second (or third) published editions. He is playing a mix of both the first and second editions, playing according to the first edition in those spots. The cross-handed C at 1:08 would sound a bit dissonant with the broken diminished B/D chord, so he plays the B to accommodate it. I hope I answered your question.
I'm giddy!

Did Mozart know Scarlatti? Papageno's singing... Or just a coincidence? It's strange enough.

There is barely any evidence that says that Mozart knew Scarlatti, and in this case, it sure is a coincidence. We do, however, know that Chopin admired Scarlatti strongly and played some of his sonatas.
Non è da mozart una citazione di scarlatti:è una copiatura bella e buona.il resto è solo variazione
