SCARED DOG WON'T WALK- IMMEDIATE BREAKTHROUGH

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This dog is so scared on the leash, she has a complete meltdown before we can even take a few steps.
She isn't used to wearing a slip lead, and she also isn't used to someone else being in the "drivers seat".
For dogs that are nervous, insecure, anxious, etc, allowing them to pull, sniff, lunge, is a massive disservice to the dog, only making the behaviors worse. Dog's that are insecure need the leash handler to LEAD the way.
In one appointment this sweet girl makes a full turn around, and can finally relax on a walk

I love that the entire process was done without treats, I rescued a Belgian Malinois and he is shy in the leash and not treat motivated, going to try this !!

Thank you! My puppy has some fear over leash pressure. The only thing that has worked is very light bumps and food rewards with obedience commands on walks. This makes me feel not alone with his fear.

I have a 6yr rescue border collie who use to walk but now won’t even leave the house except for the backyard! It started in May with all the massive thunderstorms here in Colorado! Poppa was arrested on 6/28/23 for second degree assault strangulation DV and has been absent per restraint order for two months. She misses him so much! He saved her life! I also have a two ur golden doodle we had gotten for the border collie to play with two years ago. The 4 of us use to go on walks but now only Oliver, the GD, and I go. Letty, the border collie really needs more exercise! My heart is broken! Help?

Hello from México. I have three female Tenneessee breeds almost since a year ago. I live in the heart of a small town so there are always to much activity out there, the enviroment is to noisy. One of them learned to cool from my elderly female labrador but the oher two do everything well except walking relax. Some times both has the same behavior of the one on the video. Thank you so much because your advices and techniques.

We have a rescue that we can not take on walks on the side of the road, or on the sidewalk...She was hit by a car and refuses to go anywhere near a street. This makes walking very difficult if not impossible. My husband has to carry her from the parking lot to the park or the beach; once we are there she is very hard to handle on the leash. This video is a good insight on how to take that next step.

FixLeashReactivity.com - I won’t be making a video with a dog that wants to go back home, but you can learn what you’re doing wrong and how to properly communicate with your dog, so you can walk her, thru my course.

What about when they fight the leash like throwing the arm over the leash or complete avoidance and won’t even Dave the direction we need to move to. And continue to pull to go back home

Do you have MORE advice for my fearful shutdown foster dog? He doesn't want anything to do with me. He does have a history of aggression towards men. I haven't had men over to see it yet. I just want him to have a personality & feel joy. He lays around wanting nothing to do with me. He doesn't seem to enjoy being pet or being brushed. He follows me around....always out of reach. He's an Australian Kelpie.

What if the dog is so fearful she won’t even look forward, let alone walk forward? When we leave our home for a walk, our one year old rescue’s tail goes right between the legs and is so laser focused on getting back to the front door that she refuses to do anything other than go back to it. She pulls HARD and in a constant direction towards the door. She deadweights the instant you try to move forward. She’s also impossible to communicate with. She makes no eye contact and is constantly looking for threats (this is a quiet suburban neighborhood). We spent three months letting her go at her own pace with treats but could never get her beyond the driveway. She’s also on a heavy general anxiety medication regimen with no improvement outdoors. She’s a high energy 50-lb dog and her behavior is getting worse without the exercise. Our trainer suggested that she is mentally unwell and that it would be kinder to put her down then try to put her back in the shelter.

Your trainer is a fucking idiot. Cut him loose, and build her confidence. Stop trying to walk her and work her brain. Do all the protocols in this course. FixLeashReactivity.com

Your dog isn’t impossible to communicate with, you haven’t taught her how to communicate. You can’t put her in the middle of what she deems a war zone and then ask her to pay attention to you. Just because it’s non threatening to your suburban lifestyle doesn’t mean it’s non threatening to her. Get her out of the streets, stop trying to force her to do something she’s clearly WILDLY uncomfortable with, and put in the work in your home, with no distractions. If you don’t teach her eye contact and build her confidence in your home, with her smells, and the place she most comfortable, she’s not going to just magically get it one day, out in the middle of a walk. I can not emphasize enough what an uneducated, inexperienced, pu$$ your trainer is. If you need or want someone to hold your hand and walk you thru everything, head over to Tulsapackathletics.com, Jerry owns the company and your situation is right up her alley.

My rescued dog was same, wound up at dog pound! I adopted him, just put collar on, ignored his terrible pulling yelping and shutting down. Just kept walking, as soon as walk forward gave good boy, no treats. Took 2 days, then boom he would go anywhere I asked him. He was so happy to have a leader that leads in in calm way.

@@KocoGarciaUnfortunately the dog’s vet and behaviorist have since agreed with the trainer. Despite months of spending 1-2 hours training her each day (on top of professional training and heavy medication) she still becomes incredibly fearful outdoors (won’t even get out of the car at the park) and reactive of people/dogs/etc from >300 feet away. They believe it’s due to her being born/raised in the wild during a harsh summer before getting placed in a shelter for the six months prior to adoption.

But in less than a week she's already going out back on her own! Now leash training. Then service dog training! My 12 year old g.s. Aussie shepherd lab mix is ready to retire.

I had my dog in a cheaper pinch collar. I'm not sure what happened, but it popped off and she went after a man's dog. His dog was old but not on a leash and he fell and my dog was standing over him. I was able to grab her tail after restraining my other dog who was trying to help her. I pulled her away from the other dog and neither one of them were hurt Thank God. The point is, get the HS collar Koko recommended. They don't ever pop off.
