Scandinavian Canoe Adventure - 2 Brutal Days
The final 2 days of our Canoe trip through Norway were more brutal than we could imagine, kilometer portaging and rapids.

For the minor worries, those slightly darker berries are black crowberries, empetrum nigrum. They're okay to eat and can taste quite nice, but they have hard and large seeds within so you'll end up with something resembling coffee grounds in your mouth. So they're mostly used for cordials, wines and jellies. You can have taste, though. I'll say they're somewhere between sweet, juicy and bitter. You're right about cabins in national parks, as building cabins out in the wilderness is otherwise something of a business and it disturbs both the landscape and the local wildlife. And those crackers are traditional Swedish hardbread, just in a modern version. The traditional ones are made from whole grain rye and quite rough, but good if you get used to them and great for storage. The polar breads are a newer invention, they came when freezers became popular. The trick with them is they handle freezing and thawing well, so the shops can keep a stock of them in a freezer in the back room, only to take out a certain amount to be "fresh" for the day. Great when distances can often be an issue with those fresh baked breads. Thanks for sharing your experience through, I've wanted to do this myself and it's great to see how it is. Biggest change is, I'd give it another week and bring my fishing kit.
What a gruelling trip. But the joy on your face when you made it to the jetty said it all. Well done to both of you. A few misshaps but you survived. Job well done guys.
Total respect for andy and Simon for this video ..dam..so proud of you both to stick with it ..on and on like Duracell
You guys are both my heroes! Injuries, heartaches and challenges...but the brotherhood survives!!! Late love (as I was on my own adventure!) from the US. 💛
Probably the most action I've ever seen on any of your videos Andy! You and Simon were hurting on this trip. Some adventures are just tougher than others. Just think of all the stories you'll get out of this trip.
The look of joy, when you accomplish something meaningful and fulfilling. Well done men....
It would have been tiring enough with all the paddling you needed to do but all those portages well that makes it all the more difficult. Well done to the two of you Andy and Simon for completing what you set out to do. As hard and as trying as this trip has been once you get home and look back on it you'll be amazed at the beautiful sights and see just how far you went. WOW what an adventure. You will recover from the aches and pains and that is when you can sit back and enjoy the memories. 🙂
❤ I watched Simon’s version first…then couldn’t resist. So much respect for your honesty and sense of humour through it all. Still giggling at that shot of your canoe floating away. Thank YOU for filming and posting.

They are awesome for doing this trip!
Damn nature is brutal! Glad you guys survived! We love you guys! Thank you so much for doing this trip!❤️💯🤘🍻
Sorry your trip didn't go as planned. Hopefully the next trip is better. Glad you boys made it back in one piece.
1/29/24. Oh my goodness, the trial and tribulations of wilderness camping. Thank God , you all survived. Those rough times certainly makes you grateful when all goes well ❤️
Well done lads, definitely one of those trips that makes you work for the memories….
This is the true definition of an adventure...ie: Someone else in deep sh*t, far away!...That makes you an Action-Adventure Hero! Congratulations!!!...Really... sorry for all the problems you suffered, but you handled them in them in the best style possible...Respect!!! Keep going! We will be here!
Respect to you both Andy. That trip was brutal.
What a trek this was. Sometimes, shit happens, but you guys tried to make the best of it regardless & enjoyed the scenery while you were there. You didn't let the hardships get to you or sour your experience. That's what counts, I think. Well done to you both!
Well done Andy, sometimes you just got to get through one step at a time. Stay positive mate your vids are great 👍
Hi Kent, I love your video from rogen/femundsmarka... lower parts of Røa is hard to padle with kano, thats why I like to use packraft in this area... bye the way im the guy you met in the upper part of the Røa in packraft...

Hi, Lars. Good advice, I think.
Kudos for pushing on through a tough run, and sharing that with us. Really enjoyed this series seeing the trip covered from yours and Simon's perspective. Hope we get to see more adventures like this, i'm sure the next one will go much smoother! Keep up the great work!
Just wow. Sending much respect from America to you both ...for this undertaking.
I hope you & your equipment made it out alright Andy!! Hopefully you’re going to be relaxing at home soon! That first nights sleep in your own bed is like heaven! Thank you for doing this trip & taking us along, it was amazing to watch ! ❤
Never good to see someone going in like that, but luckily just wet and only some scrapes and bruises 🤞🏻💪🏻. Gutted about the camera, but replaceable as bad as it is. Hopefully you still look back with fond memories now and recovered after being back home and got some good sleeps in you?
Kent I think you and Simon did an excellent job. You shared the vid and the surroundings look on the bright side. You're still able to make more vids. You live and learn as we go in life.
TWO MIDDLE-AGED ADVENTURERS discover a beautiful part of Sweden...and they discover that they are Two Middle-aged Fellas as well. I've been beyond that discovery phase! Best Regards!
we did 40 years of canoeing and portaging. it was great fun. we always did 2 person canoe. more stable and faster. the trips were Canadian wilderness. we also did a lot of rapids. lining or running when safe portaging when there was no choice. i really enjoyed your film. i am sorry about the problems you had. live and learn
Simon is an absolute unit.
A trip that life long stories are made of. Hats off to ya!
Great series. Probably the last time you'll ever go in a canoe. I know I'd never get in one again after all of that.
I’ve read Shackleton and other polar explorers for a few years now. Watching you overcome your struggles just makes me in awe of all exploration and adventuring. Bless you Andy every trip you ever take from now on will be heaven. What a personal challenge you will treasure when you are warm in your bed.

I feel like I’ve read and listened to everything about Shackleton! I wish there was more. Scott Franklin and Amundsen were all absolutely mind blowing to read about and listen to documentaries on. So glad someone else takes a fascination. I’m terrible in the cold but get lost in these polar explorers!
What an entertaining video . Thank you Andy and Simon . ATB Gail from Worcester Massachusetts USA 🇺🇸
Very sorry you had a rough experience on those rapids. Reminds me of the canoe trips my parents and I used to take, back in the 70s and 80s. Really enjoyed the scenery. Thanks for the video. :)
Glad you weren't seriously hurt when you took your spill. Sorry for any loses or damages to equipment but them's the breaks lol At least you had the experience which is more than I'll ever have. I live vicariously through my brave youtubers :) Thanks for all the great videos.
So sorry to hear about the camera. You’re both safe , time to go home. Have a good laugh, a drink and start planning for next year.
Glad to see you guys out in actual wilderness. It’s OK to fall into the drink when canoeing usually happens everybody. It’s how you pick yourself up afterwards that counts. Please don’t stop trying to canoe you’re only gonna get better.
This excursion Would be entirely too much for me. You have braved it well. This is number 3 video of yours that I've watched and I really really have enjoyed them 😊
Some brutal trip in many ways Andy! I’m not sure if you ever come back to Sweden after this but if you do I think you really deserve some easier adventure. More of the bushcraff style camping closer to a car with supplies, great food and the warmth of a fire. There is still much to experience here and it doesn’t need to be such a struggle as your previous stays. Well done anyway with your achievement! I hope your gear could be saved!
That looked incredibly hard. Big well done to both of you 👏
Brilliant Andy and Simon. Fantastic achievement and superb memories. Huge respect and gratitude for filming and sharing. ATVB2U Scott Somerset
Andy amazing flip. Cool your using a hammock. The feast looks good, and it's cool to see Simon from another view. His Friends. Cheers.
I cap sized once while white water rafting while in Quebec, Canada. We were going over one of the more crazier rock dips or whatever they're called and sitting at the back I flipped over my foot got caught by a rock. The under tow threatened to pull me down but eventually I got myself out by remaining calm as possible. It was maybe two minutes but felt like 20. Terrified lol. Amazing videos. Sorry the trip wasn't as great as it should've been. Both you and Simon have been putting out brilliant content. Thank you.
What a breathtaking place! Itd be wonderful just to spend a few days camping and fishing and taking a dip in the water! So relaxing! ❤️❤️
Amazing adventure of Andy and Simon. Thank you guys.
I laugh as much as I learn 😂 Found you individually, love your joint adventures! Greetings from New Orleans ⚜️💜
Andy, My husband and I have been glued to your adventures. It was epic! I hope when you look back you’ll remember the good times and be built up by what you learned from the bad. You and Simon make a good team and it was great viewing.
Thanks Andy for your honesty and brilliant video
You could see the relief on both your faces when you reached the ferry pier…looked like a gruelling trip…
What a fantastic arduous journey. Way to persevere....Simon's a beast also.
Cheers to you guys. I love doing all the things you guys are doing, just on a much less grueling scale. Those portages look brutal💪
Still looked an immense trip, a joy to watch, unlucky hitting that rock and losing some gear. All memories you'll never forget, atb👍🏕👌
Well that was quite something, glad you made it to the ferry , I was exhausted just watching it , I bet you sleep for a week, when you get home . Well done Andy and Simon , quite an adventure.
Wow, what a trip! Every time something went wrong I was saying nooooo. So sorry that it was such a difficult trip! I enjoyed the video! Looking forward to your next adventure, maybe stay on land in the future! Blessings Andy and Simon.
Loved the vid! Being in the outdoors means from time to time things will go wrong, you handled it well and kept going so well done. It’s the stories and memories we leave the bush with that makes a trip successful.
Thanks for sharing the video. Most certainly one of your best. Sorry for the loss that you had. Cudos to your buddy. You gys make a great team.
Well done Andy watched you and Simon for years love your dedication you given me loads of viewing time x thankyoue xxx

You are probably laughing about it now, but it was indeed a slog and challenge, with a sprinkle of bad luck Andy. Glad to see you smiling at the end. Can't wait for the next collaboration.
Still watching but just wanted to say hope you're doing well and I'm loving this adventure so far ☺🏞🏕🛶
Great video from you both ..just goes to show that not every trip can go without hitches but you both managed it and kept us on edge whilst doing it ..looking forward to your next adventure
WOW. What an adventure. Learning some new words: "portage", etc. Glad to hear your ok and hope you both don't have any long term injuries. Take care. Looking forward to your next adventure. Take care.
It's been a while mate, glad to see you're still pushing the boat out 😜 not gonna lie I watched you capsizing about 4 times, then called the Mrs to see 🤣 all the best dude 👍 Skye.

A truly remarkable and exciting journey Andy. You certainly covered a lot of ground; both in miles paddled and walked, and also in personal growth too I suspect. Great video series of y’all’s trip ! I feel for you Andy, you truly had a rough couple of days. Great accomplishment with all the hiking with canoes & barrels 🍺

Andy! Well done!!! The adventure of a lifetime, that is, until next time. 😉 Good on you and Simon - truly enjoyed watching. Get some rest! 🙂
No words other than impressive determination. May I say I'm glad you didn't get seriously hurt. Those rocks in the water were treacherous at best. Hope you can get access your video on your camera that went in the water. Nerves of steel there. Well done to finish that trek.
Great series of your trip with Simon. Scenery was so peaceful and very beautiful 😍. I'm just glad that your ok. And that you both made to the point until your next adventure. ✨️❤️

Enjoying this series Andy, the landscapes are stunning, those pancakes looked the bizzo, can't beat avocado with any food 👍You don't have much luck on these abroad trips do ya mate 😥 I'm glad you didn't drown at least.
Cracking trip, I bet the route looked easier on paper but hats off for getting it done. The bit when your canoe started to drift away was hilarious 😂. Shame about the spill but it happens, you recovered well and got on with it. I’m already looking forward to next years canoe trip! Atb, Ben.
