Last season, Liam Lawson got some experience in Formula 1. During the race weekend at Zandvoort, Daniel Ricciardo broke his metacarpal, stopping him from racing for a few events. The New Zealander then stepped in for Ricciardo and impressed by scoring points for AlphaTauri.
Ricciardo recovered by the Miami Grand Prix, but his season hadn't been great up to that point. This led to rumors that Ricciardo had been given an ultimatum and might be replaced by Lawson before the Imola Grand Prix.

No mention that Tsunoda was and still is smashing Ricciardo. Seems based on events a month or two old. Incidentally it is not known who provided that report in the newspaper apart from the name of the reporter. Piles of rubbish are posted from a huge range of media sources all around the world. This is another pile of rubbish, however in this case it could be closer to the truth than most. Would be such a major shame if Liam did not get his shot. Daniel has lost his edge and is easily the second driver in RB. Sounds more like a paid advert for Daniel Ricciardo than factual reporting!
Liam must be patient, he is a damn good driver but he needs to bide his time with RB, he has time on his side. It is good that Yuki has been improving, as it means there is more of a chance that Honda will put Yuki into Aston Martin next year, assuming that Lance continues his lack of points compared to Alonso. Lance will be pushed out despite Daddy's ownership, and Honda will move quickly to look after their Japanese driver, which would be a good move of Yuki, so Liam will get that second RB seat with Ricciardo.
It's not about who's the better driver, it's about who can bring money to the team with sponsorship.
I was as impressed as anyone with Lawson, and I hope he hasn't ruined his chances at RB. As much as I like Ricciardo, I'm not seeing any of the Honey Badger in his interviews, or track radio. Certainly not in his driving. Maturity and caution are good things, of course, but I think he's lost his edge. Hope he proves me wrong.

Please release Daniel because he was never a brilliant driver so why do people think he will get any better when he was at his peak years ago. Drop him now and give Lawson a chance to show his skills in that car.
At least pronounce his name right. He’s Australian not Italian. He pronounces his name the same way as commentators (ricardo) not the Italian (Richiardo) way.
