I cannot thank you enough. I love doing in the hoop projects, such as key fobs, etc. But, I HATE cutting them out. My hands and scissors don't work well together anymore, so this is just the answer for me. I just discovered your video this week and I'm as excited as you are about this great feature. So cool to see how far back the Innov-Is support goes for their sewing / embroidery and scan n cut machines. The way they promote their DX cutters I thought it was totally new concept for them. Looking over your sewing machine it appears to have much of the same features and user interface as the XP2 Luminaire with the Connection hardware upgrade their 2022 scan n cut slight upgrade offers.

This can be done with any Brother or Babylock machine that has the Embroidery Edit feature allowing you to change the thread colors. I have used it on my Ellisimo and on my Ellegante ever since the update 1.31 was issued for the Scan N Cut. This is only for the blue SnC machines, sold my dealers.

Amy, is there any work around when you need to enlarge the seam allowance on only 1 or 2 sides to 1/2", as in many of the Anita Goodesign appliques and then cut the applique piece including the seam allowance? I have tried everything I know to do, but have not found a solution to that issue. Thanks!

Hello, Loved your video, but I have the old Quattro 6000D here in Australia, and a snc do you know if I could get an update for my Quattro to do the Applique function. Love both my machines an now as a pensioner truly can't afford another sewing machine but am paying of a new DX1200. Thank you.

as far as i am aware in the uk you need the cm900 scan n cut to read embroidery files, the other uk scan n cut models wint read the files

I have the snc cm900 and it wont read them either unless they have been sorted out in design program.

Love my scan n cut. I just went to the sewing expo in Fredericksburg VA and the Brother person there who explained Scan n Cut didn't get what you're saying. Even though I did. She needs to see this video. It would sell either machine big time. (She was kind of arrogant and not a good listener, honestly, which is a lousy feature for an instructor.)

Interesting. I just saw another video that shows how the Dream Machine itself can be used to scan in an applique design and then it automatically creates a stitch file. Is this the Dream Machine 1 or 2? Brother has a way of calling several versions of a model/machine by the same name so it gets very confusing. I also just saw a view for a new Scan N Cut coming out this Fall that will create a stitch file for any applique design that you scan with it but I thought the Scan N Cut 2, quilter's edition could already do that. So confusing!

Hi - I have just received an email from Brother UK regarding the Scan n Cut not reading the files. I am gutted to learn that my CM600 does not support the function and its less than a year old. I wish they would produce firmware to read such files.

Great video, thanks. Can this work the other way around? I'd like to scan an outline in the Scan N Cut, and then transfer it to my machine. Is there a way to save the scanned outline to the USB stick. Would my Innovis machine then be able to read it?

You can scan a image, save it as a jpg, the if you have the dream machine you can use my perfect stitch function to create stitches.

Amy, I tried your tutorial on my Ellismo using a Sweet Pea applique design. Owl and Girl potholder applique. I saved it into my memory pocket, transferred it to my USB stick, but the Scan n' Cut 550 does not see it. Any ideas on what is wrong. I was in embroidery edit when I did all this. Is it the design or my older 2008 Ellisimo that is the problem? Thanks for any advice

my scan n cut isn't reading by flash drive from my embroidery machine where i saved it to the b-pocket. can you please tell me why? Thanks in advance for your response.

You increased the size of the phc file, and showed the stitching along the applique just barely catching the applique fabric. Why was the phc file enlarged for the design in the machine. If you enlarged too much the applique stitch would not tack down the fabric. In that case would you enlarge the embroidery file as well?

I love this machine sadly I can't afford to buy it thats makes me vary sad

So am I able to create my own designs in a software like photoshop and convert into something the machine is able to embroider?

Brother's embroidery machines only speaks .PES files so you will need the software from Brother to convert any graphic file into a .PES file

Put a light line of Fray Check on the back of the stitches, sold at JoAnns.

Make sure you have updated your scan n cut. If not, it will not read the pes files

How do I k now if myScan n Cut needs to be updated. I ha e had it for about a year.

I got every thing working . But until I try to size it up 2 clicks it will not get bigger HELP PLEASE

....and no uk scan n cut machines support reading .PHC files and there are NO plans to support this feature. I am truly gutted and emailed Brother uk to tell them.

I lost my Quattro 3. It died. No fix to it. I wish I could get another one but my money goes to cancer treatment. How would someone go about getting someone to donate a machine to me? I know it can be done. I just don’t know the avenues to go about asking

The 550 cm is the one you can update, the newest model the 650 is being shipped this week.

+sewinformed ahhhhh..... thanks for clearing that up. I thought the 650 was an UPGRADE. The definition of an update is changing the Operating System of an existing piece of equipment/program. I do not think the 550 can be updated, which is sad.... as I already own the 550CM. What a waste of money to have to purchase a whole new machine to get what they should have originally included in the 550CM. :-( I was hoping that you meant that we could update our 550CMs.

Patti Pruuel The Elissimo is a Babylock machine, not a brother machine. It is virtually identical to a brother machine though, so it would work the same.

Hi - thank you for your video. I have both these machines featured in your video although I have the UK version of the dream machine and my scan n cut is model CM600 which has been updated to version 1.32 On my XV8500 machine, on tapping the little orange scissor icon, I do NOT get the "APPLIQUE MATERIAL" but I do get the thread colour with a dotted line and a scissors icon- I am assuming this is the same thing?? I then follow the rest of your video but my scan n cut does not see the files:( I have checked that they are there on my iMac and can find the files with extension .PHC in a bPocket folder on my USB stick. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be lovely:)
