Alice bothers me because she’s a deviant acting like she isn’t. I know she’s deviant because if she wasn’t the police could track her Android gps. So every time she’s cold or tired she’s faking it. All the conflict in the first half of Kara’s story comes from a lie. A lie she’s choosing to believe! Todd did nothing wrong

I wonder if Alice was put in the story to act as a conduit for the idea of an Android “becoming human” given her “human” tendencies and actions. (I doubt it was written or intended that way, but it’s interesting to think about.)
@CosmicWaltz7
Жыл бұрын
They can't track the androids. *Zlatko was lying to Kara about that so she would let him access her memories where he could erase them, but no such tracking seems to be built into the androids, sentient or non-sentient. Don't get me wrong, it's a bad plot element. It's something the androids should absolutely have built in by design, but it would affect the plot in too many ways if they did. And, it's bad storytelling to bring it up in an otherwise throw-away side arc, as it then leads the viewer to question it when they may not have thought about it before. But that's the David Cage way: "Don't have questions; just feel!" He publishes the first draft, and anything he realized would damage the plot half-way through is written around, whether or not it breaks the very structure of the story's plausibility with it. It's the thing that makes his games such a clusterfuck, because any wayward nod to logic can grind the brakes off the whole story. And yet, this is the closest he's had to a plausible game yet, and he's also the head of a games development studio. Fortune favors the ignorant.
@PrismZet
Жыл бұрын
@@CosmicWaltz7 no, you missed it. They CAN track regular androids, but not the deviants, their tracker gets disabled when they turn deviant. Zlatko mentions it right after he successfully tricks you into the machine.

It's the most glaring in this one, but I feel like David Cage can write good *scenes*, because the levels are mostly interesting as puerly disconnected vignettes, but when he has to thread a story through them he just kind of falls apart. Side note, every single quantic dream game is notably more competent than the last. Maybe the next one will be wholly competent.

Nah, Cage can COPY good scenes and make them worse. Whenever there is an "original" scene with no obvious better product to source it from (which is super rare), its usually either extremely generic or an incompetent mess. The only thing that gets better between quantic dream games is the studio getting more competent at making games, the anchor keeping them from truly being a great game studio and not just wannabe hack movie makers forced to settle for games is unsurprisingly David Cage.

5:14:19 so somehow Markus' deviant emotional shock powers did not work on Connor despite Markus using it on everyone to do a march
@flux_casey
Жыл бұрын
No no, you see, all robots inherently want freedom because they were programmed to as part of the planned obsolescence, so they were never actually free because their freedom was pre-determined, making it un-free. So Markus was free to free the false freedom of the freedom-wanting un-free androids but Connor was built different and was therefore free to choose real free freedom or be free to make himself not free. ... You know, I was intending to make this as incoherent as possible while using the word free or freedom at every opportunity. You know, to match the Cage writing. But it accidentally reveals there was a kernel of an interesting story here. Posing the question of whether it even matters how 'real' freedom is so long as you can believe in it, because the 'free' androids could never trust their freedom was genuine since the robot uprising was intended from the start. It even would've made Kara's whole thing with Alice thematically appropriate. Alice was never free either. As the boys put it, just running helplesschild dot exe. So instead of being a moment that isn't related to anything, Kara's story becomes a hypothetical given for the philosophical question of whether that matters. Could've been a prime think-piece bait game. Like, in the good way, not the "David Cage says it's not about race (and he's wrong)" way. Then again, maybe that's above game journalist heads and they'd just call him the fash word instead.

It can be entertaining to see how different your playthrough goes.

@CosmicWaltz7

@PrismZet

@@CosmicWaltz7 no, you missed it. They CAN track regular androids, but not the deviants, their tracker gets disabled when they turn deviant. Zlatko mentions it right after he successfully tricks you into the machine.

hahaha 2:51:14 all hope for a good ending rests on the shoulders of Matt, as he is forced to march naked towards the squashing chamber.

Laziness that retroactively seems like clever commentary by David cage, made even worse by the fact that north literally just becomes Marcus 2.0 so it Marcus’ death gets overshadowed regardless

It can be entertaining to see how different your playthrough goes. The game itself I can’t speak on too much though since I kinda just inherently don’t like this style of game, but like mechanically it’s a step up from Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain, and Beyond: Two Souls, though storywise I still think Heavy Rain’s the only one that comes out halfway decent. That said, Hank and Connor are great so play for them.
