Saying the Right Thing When your Child Misbehaves - Amber Lia and Wendy Speake Part 2

You can respond calmly and biblically when your child misbehaves! On this two day Focus on the Family broadcast, Jim Daly & John Fuller talk with Amber Lia and Wendy Speake about their book, Parenting Scripts. You can find their book here: bit.ly/2xNRviD
They discuss why parents need “scripts” (pre-thought out responses) to the common situations they face with their children such as: sibling rivalry, bedtime battles, sin, when their tone is angry, rude or whiny, and how moms can combat their own negative self-talk with scriptural truths.

I’ve heard this saying that I like to remember: “When children misbehave we need to share our calm not join in their chaos”

That has really helped me too. Just thinking “okay, me being calm is the parenting lesson. Not going in and being negative and yelling. Lead and teach them with calm.”

“I hate this”....I thought I was the only mom. This was so powerful to hear...the enemy tries to isolate us moms.

I have been blessed by this video. It is so encouraging to know not only that others have the exact same experience I have been having, but that there is hope. Praise the Lord for inspiring you into this ministry. Bless you both and this radio station to seek out people like you to bless hungry souls. -Answered prayers.

This is a video that gives me “bite size” pieces of info I can actually use and remember! Thanks ladies for keeping it profound, yet somehow simple!

As a parent with grown kids I can tell you that raising them is not about anaylizing whether Christ's death for us and our repentance can affect their behavior. When they are misbehaving, let them know and no, you don't wait until they're done screaming at each other. When I was growing up and misbehaved, my mother wasn't having an inner female struggle about what to say to me. Correction was swift and effective.

I really don’t like when people say “babies aren’t born with manuals.” Well, no. BUT we do have the generations before us who have a lot of wisdom!
