Today I was in the car and I was saying my prayers and just having a little quiet time to talk to God. I asked him if he could have the next song on the radio be what he wants for me. This is the song that came on. I literally almost broke into tears because, the truth is that I have been struggeling to speak up for myself. I get shy and have a hard time standing up to people. So, to all who believe in God, maybe that will let you look at this song a little differently. To me it means that God knows I can have courage and he is going to be with me. (Please no hater responses to this. This incident was very important to me and I wanted to share it.)

My friend died a couple of years ago from her second bought of cancer. I remember she was in the hospital when she found out it was terminal. She stated "I know I'm dying, but before I go I want to tell people how they've meant to me. I want to ask forgiveness for the hurts I've caused. I want to speak the truths I've held inside". I brought her a notebook to start her journey. Her mind quickly deteriorated as did her voice, but in her time that she had left she touched many hearts. Her only regret was that she wish she had done this while she was healthy, but because of fear, it held her back. After her funeral her sister came up to me and handed me a note. In my friends last handwriting it was a note of love. She apologized for not telling me, but she knew we'd see each other again 💓

You should believe in yourself so much that no one can stop you should believe in yourself so much that a dream will become reality. I've always felt a connection with this song. I've never ever been confident my entire life. Never had much friends. Dad left my Mum and me when I was 14. Was horrible at studies and suffered from depression. But whenever I hear this song (and I don't know why) it gives me renewed hope to be positive and to fight and to never give up. My favorite John Mayer song.

The line “It’s better to say too much than never to say what you need to say” was my senior quote. I’ve always been really bubbly and talkative, ever since I was a little kid, and that unfortunately led to me essentially being branded as “annoying” in school. I would always feel so self conscious talking to my friends, because the whole time I’d be wondering if I was bothering them. In those moments, I would always think of this song. It’s gotten me through all the ups and downs of my life, and that line always puts a smile on my face. If I have something to say, I’ll make myself heard.

I heard this from The Karate Kid, featuring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. Also from an assembly, we wrote down all of our past troubles, what's been bothering us, etc. After we did that and the lights in the auditorium turned on, I broke down and leaned towards my friends who were also crying. This song was playing in the background, past friends have learned from their mistakes and have become my friends once again. I am grateful for that, but I have never felt so broken and lost. I will be 18 in a few weeks, life is just beginning. I know things will get better, I just can't lose faith in myself..
