Ronald, I like that you do some different types of things. It gets boring watching bowl, bowl, bowl, being turned. I've been turning for a few years now, but I've learnt a lot recently from your videos, I enjoy how you explain things, and have fun with it, and your interaction with Lies.

How you cut your logs is pretty much what I do as well, then just buck them to length after milling. Only I have a Bandsaw Mill from Woodlands Mill, only it's manual, so I have to load and roll the logs by hand, but I load them with my Tractor that has a loader. Also, my mill doesn't have wheel's, it stays in place. Still, it's always good to see how others do things.

I do, it's been great so far. I like that I can do Veneers down to 2mm thickness. I was looking at the Lucas Mill (Australian made), but as it uses a blade like a circular saw, it can't do slabs, or cut veneer, and was much more costly than most Bandsaw Mills on the market. From the looks of the Mill in your video, mine doesn't logs as long as standard, but I got some angle iron and extended the tracks myself, so I can cut logs up to 3mtre's in length by 660mm wide. I also got the upgraded motor (14HP), and hardened blades, as a lot of Australian timbers are quite hard, like Iron Bark (not that I've had the chance to turn any yet), Tasmanian Blackwood, once it's seasoned can be quite hard, so far the Saw cuts through it easily. Mine is the older model of this woodlandmills.com.au/product/hm126/ it's max width works great for my Lathe (Laguna 24/36). I'm about to be moving location (January), and be in a better workshop, but I've been thinking of doing a video on how I do blank Prep, as I have about 3 tonne's of Figured Macrocarpa Pine to process once I move.

Always love seeing a mill in action although never in real life. Just amazed by the beautiful raw products it produces and the endless possibilities for the future. Was wondering does the blade on the saw works harder if the wood is left on the log after each cut rather than removing the top cut plank each time a cut or pass is made.

This is one of the few videos I've seen about this essential phase of blank preparation. Much appreciated and well done (also the camerawork and editing). Are you planning a sequel showing subsequent steps in blank preparation?
